Earlier this year we took a look at the awesome demo for SCP Secret Files and today the game finally launched! Join me on a crazy adventure as we start our first day on the job at the SCP Facility. Our job consists of archiving several events involving various SCP anomalies and revisiting those memories to find out what really happened. The cool thing is that this game is more of a anthology telling and thus each chapter or story has a drastically different playstyle and sometimes even art style. Nevertheless there is always a sinister mystery present and the urge to find out what comes next is always present. I am a bit worried that the average SCP fan will not like this as much since the game is not as much focused on horror as one might expect. The average SCP experience often has chase sequences and monsters in them and some of the stories do not offer this. I think this can be a step in a different direction and widen the world and lore of SCPs. Even I had still the most fun with the more traditional horror stories in this game but it felt nice to have an SCP game that felt a bit more ambitious in terms of scale and visual presentation. I'm still waiting for that Triple A SCP Containment Breach experience which we will hopefully see one day.

Funny that Raymond Hamm said to run if you encounter an anomaly, knowing that in the scp lore, he was killed by SCP-049 (the plague doctor) during the morning routine inteview of the plague doctor.

All y'all talking about dragon when no one is talking about toasters because the dragons aren't that sad because we can't confirm whether or not they actually died so the must be alive and they'll come back and that's a healthy way of thinking ,shut up please.
It gets worse if you interpret the story in the game as a prequel to the actual SCP.

I love these SCP games! I like the variety in gameplay styles even though I’m a huge fan of Containment Breach. This is more of a game that explores the lore of SCP which I find fascinating.
SCP-701 is also called the Hanged Kings Play. It’s a anomalous play that involves a Hamlet like story except everyone murders each other in a bloody murder bath. It’s a Cognitohazard and memetic hazard. Once people have viewed it, the stage turns into the play resulting in a large brawl and then a bloody massacre. There’s also a humanoid figure called SCP-701-A which stays on the shadows and doesn’t show itself on the audience.
The SCP 701 story was my favorite, I love that scp and to see it given a well done spotlight in a beautiful game was amazing this game is wonderful

Dragons were very touching, and I didn´t even knew this was about SCP!
Not to mention the visualisation how brutal foundation can be (and I will be probably affraid of toasters)

That was so epic. The Hang King was the scariest story I've ever been and hopefully it wont cause me nightmare. I love SCP lore so much.

Goddamit i literally cried from the Here be Dragons story
So did I. I loved the story. I cried after I looked into it and read all the things about those SCPs on the wiki. However, I am choosing to believe that they did not die out like the Wiki implies they did, I am instead choosing to believe that they fled somewhere else and have reappeared in a different, undisclosed cardboard box and the child they encountered there kept the box and passed it down through their family when the child grew-up and had a child of their own, and so on for the rest of eternity. I literally cannot think about it any other way without bursting into a sobbing fit. So, the Dragons are okay, the Dragons are safe and alive playing with and protecting people, in a large mansion with a whole wing of the mansion dedicated to them with all sorts of little toys for the Dragons to play with.
That is what I am going with, it is my headcanon (or is it "headcannon"?) because the other option is way too sad and Depressing to think about.

i must admit i was expecting 049 even though the whole game has been amazing that they will use 049 in the trailer and then he doesn't show up... i don't know it feels like i'm missing something
I think more parts are coming.
They are making a scp 049 dlc.
scp-049 is the cause of most of the game that's why in the trailer it shows the scp-049 causes damage to the world and in the next part of the game will be why and what happened
From what I have seen, 049 will not be in SCP Secret Files due to the separation of the developer team

There's a screenshot on the Steam page of the toaster in 3D and first person so maybe they would have killed the main character by observing the actual toaster. ; )

So the tragedy of the hanged king is about a king who was wrongly accused for a imposter but the preiset just wanted to be king making the real king look bad so hid followers would kill him this is the way the scp died the scp us a script but it is also the hanged king wanting revenge on anyone who reinacts the play its just reminding him of his death he manifest and makes them all go crazy and there in the place of the peasants and he makes them sacrifice themselves for him like his other followers who tougt they were sacrificing the kings blood to the "dead king"
So long story short he's making the people who he thinks are his old subjects actually sacrifice themselves for him cause they sacrificeed him and is pissed
I found this by accident so glad I did.

@@mitskiluvr i have realized his weird behaviour in the theatre room (or whatever it is called) he runs unbelievably fast on straight paths until he encounters with another direction, then he slowens himself, this is why at the start we get caught so we wont have any time anyway unless we find another bug to evade it

I had a feeling that the Scarlet King created those extremely hostile reality bending creatures or give reality-based powers and immortality and mind control and corruption to random ass people form an army to rule over the universe and earth I think the plot that Scarlet King has Accidentlly given full access to time based and reality bending powers to D-9341 if 9341 uses those powers either the good use or evil. Depending our choices in the ending

There is a collectible of his in the Tragedy of the Hanged King act and Dr. Hamm appears in the conference, so they may be saving him for the near future.

They’re getting wild with the “retro” settings in games. The game takes place in 2012. The computer has a CRT monitor and 5.25” floppy drives. There’s a tape recorder behind it.
Listen kids, we had high speed internet, laptops, video chat, WiFi, digital recorders, etc. 20 years ago. Flat screen monitors became the norm within a couple years.
By 2012, smartphones were commonplace.
At this rate, by 2032, games set in 2002 will feature people using electric typewriters and mainframes with madly whirling tape drives. 😆
Given the setting, retrofitted technology makes a lot of sense. A huge amount of SCP-class phenomena are electronic or informatic in nature, and would probably be able to spread better through a sophisticated network. Ruggedization is prioritized over general advancement as a result.
Government institutions and corporations (so huge, "old" places operating on legacy systems) are notoriously behind in technology. International banks still employ COBOL programmers - go ahead and look through job listings in IT for positions in such workplaces and you'll see for yourself how ancient the required tech background is (the pay is fabulous tho). The bigger the "onboard" systems and the more critical maintaining their continuous operations are, the more money and time it costs to upgrade them to newest technology, so it usually simply doesn't get done. And honestly I can't see the SCP Foundation switching to cloud, that's a recipe for disaster xd

I still say Control did it better it just needed a little less Psychology lore and more Devil May Cry fighting and Sci-Fi Lore.
Control would've been perfect if there was less tedious (and overall just less) combat. I didn't finish the game because it was so boring, and every, even minor, excursion ended in a huge fight. Everything else was great.

It looks like a fun game, and thank you for the video. However, I got a bit of a chuckle from the assignment to enter data. So, you're character is from MIT, and you're doing - secretarial dictation with recordings. I get they can't make this too hard, but it was a bit humorous. ;) Thank you again.
I'm also "that guy" and can't help but notice the long walk into the hydro electric dam. So, there are no roads to the dam? They just carry in all supplies and such on foot? I'm sorry, I just can't look past these things.
You're highly overestimating the job readiness of a university graduate, even with the "best" quality of education. They're mostly useless. Believe me, I've worked with them in IT. What they do know is how to make connections with management (kiss their behinds and humiliate themselves in front of senior staff in the process), but not much that could be applied to completing any actual tasks. Graduates of "worse" universities actually have a better chance at kickstarting their career quickly in their first workplace, because they have some humility, so they're much more willing to learn the work skills required of them. That's my experience anyway.

I didn't like the dragon story, and 239 was kinda messed up, they threatened a kid with incredible power. It was kinda sad, since the kid never asked for any of it. The phone one I tried to find on the wiki but it isn't there
@Bill Kennedy the dragon one wasn't interesting to me. But 239 showed us something about her. How she was treated, and a little bit of her powers
Those two are my top two favorite stories in this game
SCP-1762 backstory in this game is really good. Also, it shows us that not everything is SCP is scary or threatening.
And 239 shows us how bad the SCP Foundation can be even with a child if they need to experiment.

SCP-7457 (the phone one) wasn't an official SCP entry on the Wiki site yet when this game was made, so the phone one was all made-up before an official story took over. Don't know why they'd leave it in the game if it wasn't an official SCP. Then again, I'd see discussions from the site admins about how "everything isn't canon", or something. The official story for SCP-7457 now is just a collection of Neanderthalic wall paintings that inspired the whole Live, Laugh, Love signs where anyone viewing them will have their brain structures temporarily become Neanderthal-like.

the first 2 stories were great but I really didn't like the 3rd or the "comedic" parts. Didn't really find them funny and ruined the aesthetic of the game.

Some of these vignettes are such clear indictments of our (the U.S. workers') internalized capitalism, that they give me hope that we will one day overcome that violent, oppressive system.

Imo, found the game quite amazing.
I do agree that this game is short because I felt really empty when it suddenly ended and rolled the credits. But the devs are making DLCs such as 049's and you can check your scp cards in the main menu, where there're some empty slots for other stories. All in all, not a bad deal.
so its a small mega game with holy cringe voice acting and child level horror and in this genre every fever dream can be a script wo polishing or decoration. in conclusion it belongs in garbage can. i dont get it those idie devs, you aint able to make a actual game just go make mods stop egoing then embarassing urself omegalul

You're probably the type of person who likes to play those games that companies pump out which plays the exact same as the previous dozen games they released while you're here criticizing indie devs for creating something unique with the limited budget they have.

I would disagree, this game is great. However tho, the game does leave a lot to be desired mainly in content since the game is extremely short. This isn't really a bad thing as it sets everything up for sequels. Also it's spelled "indie". If you're going to start a career in constructed criticism, learn how to do it properly and not be dogshit in half-assed tangents.
Prime example of a worthless basement dwelling keyboard warrior right here, go back to discord modding instead of criticisms.
