@amber Davis. . We as humans haven't ever been afforded the comfort in having people like us.. we're lucky as kids we go to school so we have more than enough interaction with others but as adults if you don't keep up good relations with people we can't just expect some government agency that supplies someone to stroke our deflated ego's!

@@mg6192 Crazy is killing 17 people out of a paranoid delusion, He's not crazy, he's cold, calculated and evil. He should have gotten the death penalty, even better he should have been crucified.
If you recall his interview with the detective after his arrest, he was begging to see a psychologist for “the demon voices”. Well, he got his wish and is seeing the man who will help keep him in prison for life and explain in very clear detail exactly how not crazy he really is. This forensic psychologist is great! I was so impressed with his testimony too.
You are correct on that. On February 14, 2018 in the evening and February 15, 2018 in the early morning he was asking to see a psychologist and then on March 1, 2021 in the afternoon and March 2, 2021 in the afternoon he finally had the chance to see a psychologist. I can tell by watching the video above.
Hearing him go into detail about his victims is just so disgusting. Saying one's head blew up like a water balloon. And saying "they gave me a nasty look, so I shot em"... uh, of course they're going to give you a "nasty" look. You're coming at them with a gun. That look was fear, though. Maybe he doesn't know how to recognize fear.
Lmfao that wasn't fear. Fear doesn't register in the face like that. That was disgust. Don't speak unless you know what you're talking about. Period. 🙄✋

Asking him to read the bit about a cheetah was a bit too on the nose. The psychiatrist's intent with that part was absolutely to push the jury towards the death penalty. With these people, everything they do is done with intent.

He seems so alert, engaged & intelligent. Crazy how the defense gave him colored pencils to make him seem childlike. I mean…I know it was a tactic, but the way he presents himself here is the complete opposite.
@Queren hapuque he's either going to be put to death or not leave until death he doesn't need a physics degree and the tax payers of Florida shouldn't pay for that
They did that because at the time he was suffering from major anxiety and depression. You can tell he was sickly skinny and was freaking out in court. Reality had settled in for him on what he did and the consequences I'm sure.
@@anelsatxlife I still don't see the point of financing a scholarship for him it doesn't have anything to do with the issues of anxiety and depression. Judging by his testimony it sounds like he's speaking with numerous mental health professionals and those feelings are normal
Sad thing is nobody took his threats serious , he was all over social media talking about his plans for the massacre, i think someone even saw his post and they contacted the FBI sadly it fell on deaf ears.
his FREAKING family knew from the age of 3 that something was wrong he freaking killed animals multiple times they just turned away and ignored it instead of getting him help from a young age on! the sad thing is since his family is that way there was NO way to get him help or any chance to prevent this from happening which just makes my Blood boil and just breaks my heart because his family didnt give a SH.. alot of innocent people had their lives taken away by him
Police and the FBI go with what they know- and what they know is filling out reports and putting up hazard tape. They ain't got no time for heroics or crime prevention.
So deeply unsettling to hear this young man talk about the murders he committed, the way he sinks his head in his arm while reliving the moment almost with some sort of guilty pride if that makes sense, the way he describes the chat he had with the other boy at McDonal’s who’s sister was laying dead back at Douglas, it’s just heart breaking, I remember that day I was driving down I-95 towards downtown Miami when the breaking news started and I said to my self, my heart goes out to all of the victims families who are about to start a journey of pain and sorrow just because a disturbed kid could buy a gun and use it against innocent children, will this ever stop, will we find a way to prevent this from ever happening again? I don’t know.
This psychologist is amazing.. he definitely knew going into this nikolas was self inflated about jrotc being one of the best ones. he knew given the opportunity, nikolas would keep talking and he got to so many good topics. Leadership question was fkn gold. I mean he got him to say he fully understands that you dont pick a fight with someone and that you help someone who is in need…brilliant.
I seriously doubt ANYONE was giving a man who'd just massacred multiple people in front of them, a "dirty" look. He is totally paranoid. The expressions of every single one of those poor kids had to be abject terror.
The most common theme that seems to run through almost all psychopaths is torturing animals at a young age. This has to be potentially one of the biggest red flags that your child is on a very dangerous path. If I caught my child doing something like that they would be getting a full factory reset to their way of thinking.
Yes me too, but unfortunately psychopathy often runs through families. Meaning, their parents just find it funny or don't even notice because they are busy being selfish narcissists themselves.
The fact that he had him read about the cheeta chasing down his prey and having him read it in detail. Not even realizing he was testing him to see how he would react to it as it could be related to what he did.
Noticed the same thing, great way to start the interview, it kind of described the exact thing he did to the students. Even reading out loud it still didn’t resonate with him.
I haven't heard him talk at length before. His mind is very sharp; quick thinking, good understanding, articulate, can compute info well, can retain it/good memory. It's just his emotional intelligence that is completely lacking. He doesn't get at all that the psych. is not on his side, that all the detail he's giving will prove his premeditation, capacity and intention. Such a huge discrepancy. Such a waste of lives - his victims and his own.
He couldn't even answer what a water molecule was made up of despite knowing it was H2O... You think he came across as sharp? I thought the opposite. He learned the basics about rifles... That's not an impressive feat.
@@WandaBrown54 I meant to respond to somebody else's query, but responded to wrong person. That's why there wasn't any context. Getting old and eyes are bad. Watching this after watching his first interrogation is completely different! He acted like he was crazy and started hyperventilating.. said he couldn’t even remember what his roommates name was after living with him for four months.. all the sudden he knows psychology..
Psychopaths can't help themselves. Given an opportunity to talk, they'll do it. If I was ever arrested, the only person I'm talking to is my lawyer. You can see how excited Nik is, wanting to believe this man is interested in him rather than simply the psychology of a mass murderer. No matter how high or low the intelligence, he's still unable to see himself through the eyes of others.
That’s a symptom of narcissism, as I like to say, it causes the individual to have “blinders” on. Meaning, the individual cannot see outside of themselves.
@@almondeyez_80 There is no official diagnosis of a 'psychopath'. It is often used colloquially or synonymously for those with ASPD as I am doing here. If you are still unsure, you may look it up as well, thank you.

Might as well as never happened as far as he cares. This has been his life for 4 years, He’s gotten more attention in those 4 years than he got his entire life. This is exactly what he wanted, and the inly reason he plead guilty was to miss the death penalty.
Thank you to the psychiatrist for doing his job. It is such a hard skill especially when Nicholas is triggered by facial expressions. I hope the psychiatrist did a lot of self-care after this interview.
What on earth? And why are you thanking the psychiatrist for doing his job? It's his job. And exactly what kind of "self care" should he be doing? Since this is his job, he is used to dealing in a forensic environment. I used to work with arrested adolescents. I worked with Eric Smith for a year. He violently sodemized and murdered a 4yr old at age 13. My son was also 4 at the time . He tried to test me by telling me in detail what he did to see what my reaction would be. You just have to distance yourself and try not to bring it home or you will have nightmares. Listening to him calmly discuss how lizards would react when he skinned them alive and set them on fire at age 4. He appears to be anxious to talk about it, enjoying the memory of it, and quite proud of himself. Believe me, he is reveling in this whole process with the psychiatrist .
He's a very thoughtful and orderly planning. Packed his bags night before, plenty of preparation, sited the rifle, deliberate actions. Cold calculating killer. Heartless - cruel - evil - gripped by crazy evil intentions. He has very very accurate recall of what he did. Permanent Jail - isn't really the solution. It's too bad that the police on site - weren't able to neutralize this threat at the school. He's smart - but he's evil and sadistic too.
Yeah, this interview was freaky in that he is so bright, but incredibly sociopathic. We're lucky he didn't kill more people... that we know of I guess. Totally without remorse.
"so bright", because he can speak in full sentences? I mean he's not the complete potatoe his defence team tried to make him look like but he is far from eloquent.
This guy has got "lack of attention" problems (between many others)... He thinks his life has no value, and no one gives attention to him (you can see how excited he is, to be explainning details to someone)... He feels useless, so he planned something that no one will forget! And the crazy part is, it actually worked! Here I am, in Portugal, following every step of this trial. Someone who never had attention from anyone, has got the entire world's attention now! And I bet my entire salary, there are many sick people who will admire what this guy did! We live in a crazy world
15:00 a mass murderer admits that he got inspired by documentaries and visual material about mass shootings, massacres and war. He didn't mention games, he mentioned videos and youtube. Sadly, this video may be an inspiration for the next mass shooter. 16:45 a mass murderer stresses that "THE POLICE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING" in previous mass murders and that was important to his decision to follow through with his "idea". Let that sink in.
i've never heard this guy speak before, and before clicking on this vid i fully expected he would sound at the very least a bit sheepish or timid or coy, a bit of regret or remorse in his voice from thinking about the crime he committed but tf no. he's fully engaged, interested in the conversation. he literally does not and has not comprehended the severity of his actions. truly unbelievable
I don't get what you or most people are shocked by this or - the first thing people say, with people like this, is 'omg no remorse'... like, yeah, he has no empathy, obviously, or he wouldn't be able to do that in the first place. I don't know why people are expecting to see people like this suddenly develop empathy overnight. Ofc he doesn't care, hence being able to do that in the first place.

Pretty sure the father of the victim, Alex, added into his speech in court that the parkland murderer had been receiving mental health resources for like a decade
NC literally fakes intelligence. However, notice how the psychologist tries to have him explain things…showing he is not insane and literally destroying his defense.
Very fluid Very invested in showing off his intelligence Very dismissive of his own current circumstances Very adapt on trying to Tick the Boxes on Insanity Behaviours The Psychiatrist established his speech patterns, got him to believe he's interested in him, then towards the end asked the shooting questions.....no difference whatsoever.
I would not be able to stop myself asking him so tell me, what do you think was the effect of you killing those people? Could he really not understand not only dying and death, terror and pain, but also family loss, grief, rage and community devastation?
Of course he understands. Look at how he revels in the attention from the psychiatrist. Notice how he tries to tailor his answers to be insane, but acceptable, because he is insane. Look up an interview with somebody who is really psychotic, it's completely different.
You know really someone like him must take comfort in having all this attention brought on him. He was probably relatively unknown in school and it’s a shame that he had to do this to get the attention.
No, he was pretty well known in the school and some students said that before the shooting everybody knew if something like that were to happen it would most certaintly end up being him.

It's also unfathomable how someone with so many red flags was allowed to legally buy a gun. I am not excusing his actions in any shape or form. It's scary when he says things like, "It's sad his sister didn't survive" when he's talking about the boy he talked to at McDonald's. If that statement was coming from a normal individual, they'd be experiencing some true emotions and guilt about what happened. However, coming from him, a psychopath, there is no emotion experienced, and even if there is, it's only for himself.

What a piece of trash. He got turned down by a girl he loved and took revenge on others. What a scumbag. And he will get to breathe while others never wake up again. Disgrace. I hope that juror gets her. She will deserve it
It’s like he’s talking about something someone else did “the sad part is she died” no, you MURDERED her. He’s a psychopath, no remorse he completely disconnects himself from the crime
Not really. Not much different than describing a car. A guy with a truck in Nice France killed more people in a minute than any mass shooter in history
Psychopaths never understand that they're being played by men like this doctor. All they know is someone is interested in what they have to say and are indulging their egos.
It's an important lesson: People can make you feel sorry for them like this video. Out of context it would appear like a regular kid. It shows that you can't let emotion get in the way of facts. You almost have to override your own emotion (not talking about you personally of course).
This feels uncomfortable to watch because in some parts of the interview he almost sounds like he’s a decent person (I AM NOT SAYING HE IS), is it an act? Was he sick or just evil? It’s an uncomfortable thought, I don’t envy the jurors who have to essentially decide that
He’s very ill, which led him to be evil. The lifelong dark thoughts, the things he did, the chance of him being able to reverse that completely is sim. Treatment would more than likely help him, but for him to be apart of society would more than likely never happen. His coping skills are so delayed. The flip side is he doesn’t want to die. But anyone who studies crime/killers can tell he thrives and loves the attention on him. It’s what he wanted and he got it. I think if he wouldn’t have flipped he would’ve calculated an escape. He planned on continuing. Not stopping. He didn’t plan to far ahead on escaping/alibi’s which means he’s also impulsive. His childhood/mental issues without being addressed is what led to his darkness. Just like Dahmer, the night stalker, Gacey, etc. Ones who I believe were just born evil are people like Bundy and Manson.
@@kayell930 exactly. He wanted attention cause he never had anything in his life. He had a good life with his mom and brother, but he was full of darkness inside of him, and he never got the love/attention/help he needed. This could have been avoided in so many levels. He is wrong on what he did, but society failed on him.
He appears to be suffering from various mental disorders as well as behavioral ones. This is what it looks like when you build rapport and the patient starts to trust you. They opening up and show cooperation. At that point you can try and steer the conversation in a direction that is beneficial to them (typically). They open up and you get a chance to see the real them. Word salads, false associations, delusions..etc. I would have patients show me diaries they had been working on for days only to be given a book full of rainbows and lyrics for songs. This is why there's a psychiatrist doing the assesment. They're trying to determine his mental state before, during, after the incident. He's guilty AF but the law is explicit about how we treat mentally ill in criminal cases. He's displaying a lot ant-social behaviors and his reasons are not very well thought out, his statements about Putin are slightly delusional and his ability to associate logical conclusions seems off. I'm in healthcare but I'm not specialized in mental health. There are very high functioning people with mental disorders walking around, running businesses etc. They say CEO's of major companies often exhibit many of the criteria needed for psychopathy and other anti-social behaviors.
It’s just so creepy how he easily talks about that fateful 2018 day in such a casual way. That is pure narcissism and evil. It’s also unbelievable how someone like him could purchase any firearm and ammunition, and the fact that the Snead family could allow him into their home, fully knowing that he owned several weapons. Mr Snead even mentioned that he thought he himself had the only key to the safe where the weapons were kept.
Absolutely horrible what he did to those poor lizards at only 4 years old, if you could skin anything alive you don't have a heart or a conscience and that never changed for him. He was a definite danger to society and should have never been in it.
he was in shock i think-if you ever seen anyone go through something life altering they often have panic attacks and cant speak well immediately following..
It sucks that the only time people receive this much interest from others, it’s usually too late. Imagine if we all had our behavior analyzed so deeply? We’d probably learn a lot. Sad it’s wasted on a person like him… why can’t we do this type of evaluation on every child’s 18th birthday?? Imagine how many red flags could be caught. Idk maybe that’s just the teacher in me wanting to believe that intervention can help people like this.. he knows what to say “it was all for attention” he’s heard people make excuses for his behavior for years and now he’s grasping at anything he can.
I think if he or anyone like him would have been interviewd this way outside of jail there's no way they would have been that honest, Unless they wanted to help prevent what they had done in the end
Only trouble here is, what constitutes a 'red flag', who defines it, who determines the threat level, and what do you do about it? I don't think you really want the dystopian 'Minority Report' style system you seem to be implying. Either the system just psychoanalyses everyone and does nothing, which is pointless, or it denies people rights based on perceived, not actual, threats. It's one thing if they make a bona-fide threat, but an entirely different thing to claim you know what someone's unspoken intentions are.
I 100% agree about making these kinds of psychological evaluations routine. I think we should also do psychological and personality evaluations before issuing driver's licenses.
@@spearamintwolf6225 I think certain clues, like when someone has zero close friendships and displays a lack of empathy in other more common ways or exhibits signs of narcissism, would be sufficient intel to know the person may need further evaluation, treatment, or supervision. You can sometimes get a feel for the types of things someone thinks about (stuff like looping thought patterns, cognitive distortions, obsessive tendencies, paranoia, irrationality, victim or superiority complexes, toxic beliefs) simply by asking them to talk about themselves or someone else for a period of time. A lot of times, psychopaths or narcissists can't help but brag about the things which they feel make them superior to others. Nikolas clearly seems to take pride in his "superior" knowledge about guns and strategic warfare and he might have blurted some of that out in a normal conversational setting with a therapist before this happened. Based on his family history and foster status, he probably should have been in therapy even if he were an otherwise normal kid, because he has obviously endured various traumas. But I think he's the type of psychopath that already had a missing capacity for remorse before any of that. In that kind of case, behaviors like "duping delight" also have physical tells in body language. A talented body language expert can pinpoint potential red flags pretty easily. It might not help catch everything to get every kid into psychotherapy, but it would definitely help to get people recommended for further psychological care by a certain age, which would cut down on a lot of the world's mot tragic dysfunctions, imo. I think every single person should have a therapist, for their entire lives. That will be how things are someday in the future I bet, but probably not within this century because our culture is too ignorant to see it as a worthwhile solution, and it will probably require a socialized healthcare system to be in place.
@@EverAppl14 So someone doesn't have enough friends and you think we should humiliate them with psych evaluations, mandatory ones? That's not going to get them bullied by their peers at school. Then you bring body language into it? These terms like narcissism, supply, etc. are extremely complex concepts and I see people with no psych background throwing them around on social media 24 hours a day. It's between a kid and his parents if therapy of some kind is needed, and for those over 18, it's between them and themselves. We're not instituting it socially. Of course you'd throw in socialized healthcare: I can tell you're on the side of trade liberty for security. But don't pretend you're not. Just come out and say it directly; no matter what it costs for personal freedom and independence, for personal privacy, if it helps even 1 percent stop these shooters, you're all for it. You don't have a right to force people to take therapy, much less tabulate their personal traits and interests in some government database to analyze and track them for potential threats, and that is absolutely what you would have to do to curb this issue. The kind of society you describe is one that neutralizes the individual and sort of flattens everyone out into the same kind of guy. It helps foster a world where everyone is the same. It stigmatizes traits you think are somehow correlated with becoming a mass murder that, in reality, don't mean a thing. A lot of what passes for psychology and therapy today will be treated as pseudoscience in a century: that's the actual future.

If your cruel to animals you’ll be cruel to humans 🐾
He talked about doing this for years, planned it, dressed to fit in, shot kids multiple times as he maser multiple passes and pretended not to know who or where he was during arrest. How anyone disagreed with the death penalty is beyond me. Florida should reconsider all other cases now since this one didn’t apply
What would the death penalty accomplish? It would just satisfy your selfish biblical need for revenge. Mr. Cruz needs mental health support, not further punishment for the things he couldn't control.
He said he's going to kill 20 people , yet he killed 17 people. He failed. Now he's in there. He will be in there for the rest of his life.
Makes my blood run cold that he said he loves animals. Dude had a history of killing animals for no reason. Always ALWAYS pay attention to a behavior like that. Killing defenseless animals is just a first step to killing people, just like he did.

Because he is a good person schools failed him and everyone bullying in schools is a bad problem and kids that get bullied want revenge
@@kayell930 exactly. He wanted attention cause he never had anything in his life.
