Considering their rep the researcher would probably be forced to run island to island as well meaning the World Government would likely want those destroyed too.

Only, mountain bandits distracted Shanks & his crew long enough for Luffy to eat that random fruit sitting on the counter. I dunno -- just letting my wheels spin.

JUST A THEORY I HEARD ITS NOT FACTS, so people believe that rouge had the gum gum fruit and was able to some how keep ace in for longer and SOMEHOW shanks (since he was on rogers ship) knew so that why he had the fruit back in the day.
It turned out Jerry was secretly running a drug empire. Cocaine to be exact. He recently got caught due to an informant the police had. Last I heard it’s getting complicated because he was running shit down south and they want him extradited so we’ll just have to wait and see.
