  • Who makes up your family? Where do you see your place in history? And how do you record your ancestors’ memories, share their stories, and honor their legacies? After nearly two centuries, a Read family dining table has returned to the Read House & Gardens in New Castle, Delaware, as an example of how each generation leaves its mark on an object. Once two separate tables owned by George Read I, it was transformed and also documented over the years as a piece of family history. To learn more about the Read dining table, plan your visit to the Read House & Gardens!

Yes! William Thompson Read, grandson of George Read I, lived in a house on Harmony Street, where this table was located for years before finally coming to the Read House & Gardens on the Strand.
