To everyone asking about: - Value of coins: about $2-$3 each for the older silver ones, in their shown condition and based on recent eBay sales. Proof coin is about $4-$5. - Where to sell any coins you have: eBay, other online auction sites specializing in coins, reputable local coin shops/dealers. - Where to get rolled coin boxes: order from your bank where you have an account or possibly other banks not requiring an account. You can also just ask for any available rolled coin from a bank teller. Box prices range from $25-$500 - they are not free - and coins are exchangeable for face value after searching them. - Why search coin boxes: for the occasional old coin finds, rare ones if you can get them, but mostly as a HOBBY and not necessarily a money-making opportunity. You're welcome...
Seeing this video for the first time. I know I already told you in a recent livestream but I found a 1917 Merc in a roll of pennies last week. Still buzzing from it! Wish I could put that roll back together and open it again. lol. It was a very old roll. Five Indians (one of which was the oldest I've ever found), a steel, the dime, and the rest were wheats.
I picked up a 1942 Mercury from a car boot sale here in the uk for 10 pence, a 1941 quarter for 2 pounds, a 1943 p war nickel for 2 pounds, and a very warm buffalo nickel for 50 pence, it was an absolute steal
Hi 'Digging Dave'. I've been watching your videos for a few yers now. I really appreciate you sharing your findings with us. I'm from Brazil, but I live in Vancouver, BC. I do coin roll hunting as well, it's really hard to find silver.
My grandmother would put her dimes from the change in a Rail Road Lanter Bank from a Bloomington IN Bank; First National maybe, and in Third Grade she took $10 out for my payment to attend Camp Bradford Woods in the Spring of 1964. I love dimes.
Common circulated dated silver dimes are only worth about 2 dollars each. So don't expect to find any silver in rolled up coins in today;s market. They make Billions of clad dimes each year now.
A customer paid with it. Also last year, a customer came in and wanted to know if I could buy rolls of quarters and dimes his grandfather had . He just wanted cash for them. He had over ten rolls of quarters, all dated 1940-43 and 5 rolls of dimes from the same years. I gave him face value for them, not knowing what he had. The following day, he came back with that many more. I encouraged him to take them to a local coin shop in the area and even offered to sell back the previous ones to which he politely refused. So I have these coins still. I have never researched them or anything.
Interesting fact: The reverse of Mercury dimes depicts a (Fasces) which is an image of a axe bound with wooden sticks. The basic symbolism meaning is Strength Through Unity. The origins of the Fasces predate the Roman Empire. The story of the Fasces is said to be told by Aesop, a slave and story teller believed to have lived in Ancient Greece between 620 and 564 BCE. The fable is called An old man and his sons. The story goes...An old man has a number of sons who constantly quarrel with each other. As he nears death he calls them to him and gives them an object lesson in the need for unity. Having bound a bundle of sticks together (or in other accounts either spears or arrows), he asks his sons to break them. When they fail, he undoes the bundle and either breaks each stick singly or gets his sons to do so. In the same way, he teaches them, though each can be overcome alone, they are invincible combined.
marlene mcmillan there are serious crazy collectors out there who would want these things for their collection. You'd be surprised. Just finding these old coins in circulation is pretty cool too, if you're into that sort of thing lol
I work for a hotel and take care of all the deposits and getting change for the safe. I have to say finding silver dimes is near impossible. Plenty of quarters and war time nickles but I have only ever found one dime. Buffalo nickle once and a Indian head penny from 1893. But dimes are rough.
Right around the 7:20 mark i thought exactly what u said at that moment about going back to that bank.Man,when you bust out of a slump Dave you don't mess around. Awesome CRH,take it easy.
Hi guys, I am a newbie to collecting coins. Why are silver dimes so special and do they have any worth? I would appreciate any info you could pass my way. TIA
kevin joseph you could always do it by hand, but you can get electronic coin rollers on amazon for pretty cheap. I imagine anyone who does a lot of coin roll hunting has already invested in one.
Looking at my coins the other night and lost a mercury dime in my couch. Flipped it over searched up and down and couldn’t find it. So whoever buys my couch when I sell it gets a free mercury dime. BTW it was a 1924 D which makes it suck that much more.
I have inherited a massive amount of old coins mint condition and varieties of collector State coins where do I find someone to tell me how much these are worth?
I’m a toss up from jealousy to good for you to hate you. Lol awesome box man. I count tills at night and I’m up to 3 mercury dimes and a couple dozen roses. Think I’m gonna start doing this. Also have a 2002 silver dime I found. Someone must have specially ordered it and accidentally spent it. New subscriber awesome work.
So what's 6 silver dimes worth? About $10 or so. How much time will you invest in that one box? Time to go to the banks, plus the cost of gas, Time to open all those rolls, time to repack them in new wrappers, time to drive the repacked rolls back to the bank and time to drive back home. Has to be at least an hour of time there so you made $10 for your hour' of work, and that's a good haul. Not to mention that those dimes are dirty, probably have a zillion germs on them, and you're handling them, touching your fingers to your mouth and nose, catching who knows how many colds and flu bugs from the dirty coins. I'm glad if you're happy spending your time like that, but to me, it would not be worth it.
Cool video man. I work at a Taco Bell and I'm always finding old coins. Mostly old pennies and nickles and a few quarters. I have one of those liberty dimes or dated 1939. When I found it it I was happier than a kid in a toy store . Lol.
John Thario yeah John what does v mercs and proof there that you found in the dimes what were they worth I mean don't you say what they're worth over the the internet or I mean what did you get for those I mean you showed us all the stuff that you don't tell us what they're worth I mean you know for the proofs in the Mercury's especially the dates on them I mean I got a bunch of them I like to get rid of I mean how much you buying for I need to tell people if you buy them or were you take them and get that kind of money anyways you have a blessed day
I work in retail and recently came across an entire 5 dollar roll of Mercury dimes all dated 1942-44. I was ecstatic!
Wow! Where did it come from?
Wow 6 silver dimes and a proof. That is amazing. Congrats on all of your finds.
Nice dimes
That was definitely a collection dump there. Im sure there was more in another dime box. Great finds. You got some good luck 👍
Congrats on your silver dimes
I’ve worked retail for 5 years & I’ve only found six silver dimes that whole time. But two of those were worn Mercs from the 1940’s.

Nice video!

great vid i never find any silver in boxes or change any advice on how to do it
where do you get the coin mat at?
The only reason people dislike it’s because they’re jealous of your silver luck
I trained all my employees to spot out silver dimes and quarters. So everytime we get one in the register, everyone knows to give it to me.
Common circulated dated silver dimes are only worth about 2 dollars each. So don't expect to find any silver in rolled up coins in today;s market.
They make Billions of clad dimes each year now.
Crazy hunt! Congrats!!
Sweet finds.

The 1997 S proof dime is 90% silver. Awesome find!!!
I have four of the 1944 Mercury dimes.
A customer paid with it. Also last year, a customer came in and wanted to know if I could buy rolls of quarters and dimes his grandfather had . He just wanted cash for them.
