  • In this video, we dive into the world of Brutalist architecture, a style known for its raw concrete forms, bold geometric shapes, and functional design. Often misunderstood, Brutalism emerged in the mid-20th century as a response to the post-war need for affordable housing and public buildings. In this video, we explore the origins, key characteristics, and iconic structures of Brutalism around the world, as well as the controversies and renewed appreciation surrounding this architectural movement. Join us as we uncover the powerful impact of Brutalism on urban landscapes and its lasting influence on modern design!

I’ve always found Brutalist buildings to be both calming and stimulating, like very large and very good sculptures.

For some reason this reminds me Tiawanaku in South America. Except they did it better back then. Thanks. Interesting video.

I think brutalism would be nice in smaller dimensions like furniture, bur for buildings i totally understand that it is out of trend. But it shows beautifully the experimental aspect of the art of architecture.

Characterised by minimalist construction that showcase the bare building materials and structure elements over decorative design.

Some beautiful pictures, thanks. When Brutalism works, it’s a triumph - and the opposite is true; its failures are beyond belief in how ugly they can be.
Surprised you didn’t include London’s Barbican, as well as the magnificent National Theatre.
