    This game is the Bears version of Michael Jordan scoring 63, and the Bulls still loose in Overtime.
    Payton accounted for 21 of the Bears 31 points, and the Bears still loose in overtime. Walter Payton was the position of Running Back. Payton was the Chicago Bears offense. Payton was the best their ever was, at Running Back.

    No one in history ever ran the ball the way Walter did! Or block, or catch, or pass!!! The greatest football player these eyes have ever seen!!

      Football player being the key term. With Payton on the roster, you had more than just an outstanding running back.

    *I've been a loyal Chicago 🐻 Bears fan since 1961; those were some pretty damn painful decades for loyal Bears fans too! But, win or lose, a true Fan supports their team even when they lose more games than anyone thought possible! It's hard to believe that it was just 2 years after this '83 - 8 & 8 season that these Chicago 🐻 Bears turned their losing ways around! Being lead by the AWESOME talents of 'The Punky QB' Jim McMahon; 'McMahon', which translates to "Son of the Bear", and the truly devastating Defensive Players with their 46-Defence, would come to this very same stadium to utterly destroy the New England Patriots and a couple of their Quarterbacks, with an appropriate '46' to 10 victory! With a devastating 7 sacks lead by the viciously talented Richard Dent; earning him the well-deserved Super Bowl XX MVP Award! The Bears scored in every way possible, even scoring a 'salt in the wound' Safety! Then, a few years later, 'Iron' Mike 'Hissy-Fit' Ditka would go on to almost coach the Saints; proving that he really wasn't the reason for the Bears Super Bowl XX win; but the awesomely talented Bears 🐻 Players themselves along with Coach Buddy Ryan's '46-Defence' which were the real reasons for the overwhelming Chicago 🐻 Bears victory!*

      I have had it with the bears losing. I went through all the bad times like you. But what I cannot forgive is the fans that turned on active players and fans like they did this year.

    Probably the most entertaining game of the Bum Phillips era. Stabler getting it done at age 37. Payton was incredible in this game.

    I forgot that the Bears didn't unleash their navy blue pants until next season in '84 and from there that would become their Super Bowl winning uniform in the same venue.

      he was top 3 Jim brown , Barry Sanders Walter Payton, I'm a packer fan but he was great player he could bust thru the line and take off or jump over line like he had springs on his feet , what made him great he didn't run out the sidelines he would go for more yards every time

    Did Tim Ryan ever fill in for Pat Summeral (when he was on his golf or USTA tennis open duties) and work with John Madden?

    • @daboys1215
      @daboys1215 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, but he sometimes filled in for the guy who did. Verne Lundquist or Gary Bender. That was rare though.

    • @ryanstrnad8442
      @ryanstrnad8442 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I saw a picture the other day of Tim Ryan and John Madden looking like they were working together (couldn't tell the sport). I know from the mid 80's until CBS lost NFC rights to Fox, Verne Lundquist was the designated "fill in guy" to work with John. Tim Ryan also did USTA coverage, did the late night highlights show. One time Dick Stockton as an emergency sub worked with John (after Dick did a Saturday game) and had to explain to the whole country why Summeral wasn't there (he was on leave for an alcohol incident, he got sick). I know Im getting carried away with this, enjoy the game today.

      @daniel anderson, Yea I heard about the Dan Rather walking out situation. Then a few weeks later, Rather got into it with George HW Bush on an interview on his newscast (I later saw the whole thing on TH-cam) Bush actually was giving him a hard time for that walkout in the process. I have never seen the elder Bush get that angry before, ever. I asked about Ryan working with Madden because on a FB page of him, there was an old pic of those to together looking like it was taken in the mid-80's. Now, they both are retired and both are living in norther California last time I checked.

    If the Bears win this game as well as the game the next week in Baltimore [also an overtime losses that they should've won], the make the playoffs that year. Their opponent? San Francisco.
