Dextrous skills between the singing and the playing! And the end effect is just beautiful. Buiochas le Dia that the wind off the Atlantic has died enough for me to hold my iPad.
Incredible. Instrument as well as voice and love the cadence of your voice. Visually the background puts everything into relief. Always surprised the other side of the north sea version of the same song Harpa is so rarely referenced in the same breath ... der bodde en bonde ved ei strand, harpa tuner var og fin (folque norwegian 1970's and bergtatt also).
I have been a musician and poet for years. I love your sound and honesty to the antiquey of the music. With your permission I would like to have your music played at my wake. I plan to be around for a while, but one never knows. 🙂
And here I thought I was was alone in my adoration of Pentangle. I urge you to reach out to Jacqui. You might find her receptive, because I have no doubt that she will recognize your talent, and I promise that she's more committed to keeping folk alive than she is of her own ego.
please add in description as played on octave mandolin or octave mandolin cover coz i've been searching for covers made on octave mandolin but couldn't find anything better...Thanks to the Weber website as i was browsing through "artists" page and found you. I'm so happy that now my search has stopped... I love texture of your voice... keep singing..
I’ve only just discovered you and your wonderful music thanks to Instagram. Such a beautiful voice and inspirational playing. Thank you for sharing this with us all ❤️
I thought your listeners might be interested in learning a little of the (rather complex) history of this song... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Twa_Sisters

Wow I got the chills listening to this. Your voice is haunting, the mandola is just wonderful, and your control over light and shade is masterful. It's so unfair I can only give this one up vote.
wow.we have this song in california called 'Oh the Wind and Rain ' by Jerry Garcia .we don't really know where he got the song if he made it up or it was something fro American folk music . Interesting that song is about a violin and this seems to be about a harp . I like your instrumental part too very much . Pentagle is cool .
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Twa_Sisters Appears that its very old, much like a lot of folk songs that ended up in America. Presumably taken over with the migrants and evolved over the generations
@@LadyMoonCries Lady Moon I am flattered... I admire your Music, your Vocal skills, how you can play your Instrument so very well and of course the Octave Mandolin. Keep up the Good Work Cheers ! Erin Go Brah Dave from Boston USA
@@MichaelLevine-n6y Yeah I know, that’s just what i found when I looked the term up. I mean, lot of folk songs have constantly repeating chorus lines and often times those lines don’t have much to do with what the song is about so maybe it’s something like that?
lay the ben to the bonny broom ... refers to the murky origins of the song but originally a murder ballad involving two brothers (the sibling part is preserved but the younger brother kills the older instead of the older sister killing the younger). 'ben' for bone and 'bonny broom' referring to a plant (broom), where the bones are laid, usually next to a bridge.
Skipped a verse. Just after being pushed in, the younger sister asks the elder to save her, promising anything she wants. Elder says no, "Your own true love that I'll have and more." Don't remember all the words but that's the basics. It's like listening to Marty Robins' El Paso when they leave out the part about the cowboy being "Shocked by the foul, evil deed he had done, He had but one chance and that was to run." The broad strokes are there but you're missing some nuance about the main character.
There is usually 5 other people that make THE MUSIC... then the words are added by 1 person to put thier stain on what the others CREATION... MUSIC IS ABOUT THE VIBRATION N FLOW !!! NOT WORDS!!! SORRY TO DISAPPOINT YOUR DISTORTED VIEW😢😢😢...
I had the urge to jump up and applaud, then realized I was sitting at home alone.
Hummm. Don't let that stop your enthusiasm.
This woman can PLAY!
Thank you for the kind words 🕊️
Lovely !! Such a haunting song ,,, great performance :-)
That's a cover of Pentangle's cover of a Child ballad, one of the earliest. I think Child 10, originally "The Twa Sisters"
Oddly enough, it’s actually two child ballads combined! 🕊️🕊️
Wow! Just Wow!
thank you for keeping alive this indangered kind of music
So hauntingly beautiful 😍
Thank you love! ❤️
Fabulous, Eva. ❤
Wow!
This is an amazing performance of the song! ❤

You've inspired me to get an octave mandolin. Unfortunately I can't sing worth a darn, but my cats don't seem to mind.

I heard the Pentangle recording. Bert Jansch was a great guitarist! I like your version of this! It sounds nice with the Mandolin.
Dextrous skills between the singing and the playing! And the end effect is just beautiful. Buiochas le Dia that the wind off the Atlantic has died enough for me to hold my iPad.

Is that a bouzouki I see.?

What does "lay the bend..." mean? Seems ominous.
Apparently to an old timey saying for a type of dance.
@@NA-AN In context of the lyrics it seems darker than a dance reference.
