    I used to be quite fluent 25 years ago but did not speak Cantonese after leaving HK. This brought back a lot I have forgotten, along with material I don’t recall ever knowing. Great teaching!

    Do dze saai! This is brilliantly done. Almost no such quality material anywhere else on this particular topic.
    As I've commented before, your strength is in being able to teach the difficult natural conversation parts of Cantonese to non speakers. 👏

    thank you teacher, very useful...for 'but' when would you use 但係 daan6 hai6 and when would you use 不過 bat1 gwo3? are they interchangeable? 唔該!

    • @DopeCantonese
      @DopeCantonese  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      good question, Mostly they could interchange.
      But 但係 has a stronger tone than 不过. and 不过 is similar to however or nevertheless.
      eg. 你可以食蛋糕,不过唔可以食咁多
      You can eat cakes. However, you couldn't eat too much
      你可以食蛋糕,但係唔可以食咁多more strict)
      You can eat cakes but you can't eat too much.

    This is a great video! What does 嘅話 mean? I'm not sure what meaning this adds to conditional sentences.

    • @DopeCantonese
      @DopeCantonese  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      good question, actually 嘅话 is like a particle for 如果, it makes the sentences sound better. It could be omitted but it sounds weird while it is correct grammatically
