I'd like a podcast where Lauri reads aloud some tales or short stories in Finnish. I don't even understand Finnish but like the language and Laurie's soothing voice so I'd listen to it every day.
Simple rule, if it's an "Ä", the "A" with 2 dots on top, it is always pronounced as the "a" in words like "and", "stand", "land", "fan", "Stan". If it's an "Ö", the "O" with dots, it is always pronounced like the vowels in words like the vowels in words like "birth", "dirt", "burn", "turn", "birch" etc, only shorter. "O" is always pronounced as it is pronounced in "Tom" or "fodder" and "A" like the last two, shorter vowels, in "Barbara". If you want to write a long vowel, you have to write two vowels in a row, like in the word "kaava" (blueprint, plan, schematic etc). If you want to make the "ou" sound, like in the word "coal", or "omen", you write the letters "o" and "u". If you want the vowel sound you make in words "fool" and "tool", you write two "U's", like in the word "tuuli" ("the wind", divided into syllables: tuu-li). Every letter counts. Every letter is pronounced the same way, in every word. There are hardly any exceptions. Practically every word is written strictly following the rules unless it's a foreign name, or a foreign word that is yet not fully adapted into Finnish language. Emphasis on the first syllable and you're good to go. Pronouncing Finnish, that's the easy part. Now, learning the grammar... Have you got a lifetime? :D
So basically you just gotta embrace your inner Christian Bale: "Then why the ---- are you walking right through? jäätelötöttörö, like this in the background." got it
@@TheJutka1 EXCUSE ME? I can tell that people who speak english like you are literal idiots themselves for saying that for no reason.
