There was a time when Gypsy's had a strong 6th sense. My grandmother had great respect and a little fear of them. She always bought their lucky heather or whatever they were selling for fear of being cursed. I believe the story you told us. Over 40 years ago a Gypsy ,told me I would be traveling over a lot of water. I told her yes I'm going to cross a river on my way to town. Long story short I ended up crossing the Atlantic ocean to live in USA. I hope you got warm and dry very quickly Sue. You have beautiful eyes. lots of love to you and yours 💖💖💐💐
My hometown ❤ many memories growing up here. I played sports in that old church as it was later used as a centre. When we were young we were told priests are buried under the floors of the church. The new church in the distance is the church I received my communion and confirmation 😊. Welcome to Galway sue its always raining😅 😂
For all the noise outside, the inside of the mausoleum must be totally silent. Thank you Sue for braving bad weather for us. Please take care of yourself! It’s 2024 and I wish you good health, wealth and happiness!!!
Lovely story I was brought up to have a healthy respect for gypies especially the older 1s the true traveller.Thanku God love you for braving the weather.❤
Great video to start the year. Thanks for your travels and videos. You and GV are the BEST around. Wishing you all peace, love, joy and happiness in the coming year. Much love from auntie
It's a very nice story and hopefully, maybe next time we can see that cemetery when it's dry. Thank you so much for sharing, and hopefully you didn't get sick.
I felt bad for ya getting all wet in that storm. You do such a great job. Ive been watching you for about 2 years now. Thank You So Much. Always very interesting and educational.
Great way to start 2024. Unfortunate that the weather would not cooperate. Beautiful graveyard, and mausoleum. It does look to be in good condition, except for the ivy. Someone is keeping the grounds up. Thank you very much for braving the weather Sue, you look like you almost got blown away. This is a great video. Take care. 😊
You did, you did a great job getting the story. Was that the only way in? Thank you very much for getting back to me Sue. Perhaps you can visit this graveyard again, this summer ☀️ when the weather is more cooperative. Please take GV with you. 😊
Agreed, no graveyard, or cemetery should be locked up. Unless, there has been trouble with vandalism, then I can halfway understand it. But I saw no signs of vandalism here, Unless you saw something that I did not. Thank you very much again, for getting back to me. I hope you are all safe at home, with something hot to eat.
@@SerenitySueGraveyards drowned rat is normal in the US I was just so afraid when I saw the caption the ground gave way do to the rain and you had to get out I'm just excited that it was rain.
Ahh no, I'm grand but the rain that's fallen has roads and fiels under a lot of water here, makes driving very dangerous. I don't mind getting wet to be honest
Great short video sue you had me worried there when you put you nearly drowned we love looking at and reading headstones but we aren't ready to read yours yet love for many many years don't be risking life and limb take care and stay safe 👍🙏
God love you Sue for braving the weather to bring us that charming story.I think Irish people have a healthy respect for the real travellers who flitted around the country.Definitely something in it .💙
Yep, next time remember to watch the weather report and grab the umbrella, 😊. Hope you got dried out after that. Love the story. Tc and stay safe always and warm. ❤ the video.
Bless your heart for braving the cold rain to bring us this video. That cemetery is incredible. I would love someday to be able to afford to visit there and look for some of my ancestors resting places. But Texas is a far way rrom there, and I'm over 60 and not getting any younger.
My Grandfather's last name was Miller, there are also Cunningham's and Smith's in my Family Heritage. Thank You for the Information Sue. May God Bless You!!!
Hello from Amity, Oregon USA. I haven't popped in to say hi or anything lately. But I'm still tagging along with you. Right before Christmas I was diagnosed with two types of breast cancer. Been going through a barage of biopsies and will get my surgery date on the 10th. I will be laid up for awhile so I'm looking forward to your videos. I'm only 46 so please remember to keep up on those mammograms.❤🇺🇸
I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this..in Ireland we don't get a mammogram until we are 50, which is terrible as I know younger women who have had breast cancer. I wish you well for surgery and please keep in touch after. I'll send some Irish blessings over to you. All my love x x
When I was a kid and complain that I got caught in the rain, my mother would tell me "You wont melt because you're not made of sugar." I would answer "Maybe I will melt because I'm made of salt." Yes, I was sent to my room for the night. Keep dry and stay well Sue.
Hello Sue , Happy New Year , Love the story sorry you were getting wet but it does add to the video over grown old church yard , the family vault is lovely nice stone work and all the ivy growing over the door way. Thank you Sue .
Hope you warmed and dried up after this Sue. The things you guys do for us!! Wonder if there is any truth behind this beautiful story, love the architecture of the mausoleum. Thank you! Deb of Oz XXX
There's a website I've linked below called duchas.ie it was stories locals wrote in different counties, not only is it handwritten but also typed for easier reading. Lots of folklore. GV grew up knowing this story so it's definitely a story with some truth....
Ah Galway again, would love to see more of this area 😁 thank you for not drowning out there lol fantastic cemetery the church looks like it's leaning, or is it near water and the ground is washing away from underneath? Take care, Happy New Year to you and GV🎉❤
That story reminds of Isabel Arundel, who married Sir Richard Burton. When quite young, she met a family of gypsies - the Burtons - and had her fortune told. At timestamp 1:15 I was hoping that you would stop at the grave of the white sculpture of a man standing on the headstone of the grave. It looked interesting so I wondered why you ignored him as you passed. I wondered why he had such an elaborate statue on his grave.
Great video sorry you have to get wet and cold, the bush with the berries looks like missiletow they have white berries until Christmas and turn red over night to hang a sprig of it in a doorway or room is supposed to bring very good luck to a couple that steals a kiss under it.
What is wrong with these people? they go to the pub tie one on and vandalize old abandoned churches and crypts I think it all starts in the home raise your kids right If i got out of line i got the belt no discipline anymore we were better for it we respected authority on the other hand my brother was a challenge
Oh I'd of got the spoon, the Bush or whatever was close to hand. In fact I'd of never done such a thing. It's definitely about being thought respect, then again some children are just bold, no matter what
