My daughter was a PA on the show. She said Richard Schiff was very strict about non essential people on the set. She sometimes had to deliver items to the soundstage and was very careful not to linger. Because once the buzzer sounds you have to be gone. On the last day, as everyone was leaving, Richard Schiff noticed my daughter, addressed her by name and thanked her. He is a real gentleman.

I met Joshua Malina almost 20 years ago at a casino (I believe The palm) in Las Vegas. He was there shooting "Celebrity Poker Showdown" for charity. He was the producer I think. He was the warmest most kind gentleman. I was just some nobody who happened to recognize him and his friend Timothy Busfield that day. They treated me like a VIP and invited me to the taping of the show. It was a great experience. I'm sure he has no memory of this but it's still fresh in my mind. Just wanted to tell this story because he is the type of person that treats a complete stranger/nobody with so much kindness and respect. It tells a lot about the character of the person.

This is one of the best shows I’ve ever watched and it made me appreciate how elegant American politics and government could be. This was just a show, but what we are going through now with this circus of an administration, it feels beyond fiction.
But West Wing is a refuge. I watch it over and over again hoping that people in government will once again, hopefully soon, come in service with a sense of duty and not for self indulgence or just to play political games.

As someone who does not watch TV, I must confess I have not seen West Wing as it played weekly. With the current state of the US political affairs, I thought the show could offer a little insight and a refresher course of the workings of our government, along with offering a little entertainment . I must say I was taken aback, the show was more than I could have ask for. It was rich in content, writing was like a master piece along with character development. It was an amazing show, I binged watched, just completed the series, and now, next day started once again at Season1, Episode 1. Thank you for the work you do!!! PS John Spencer was my favorite character, but loved you all....way to go Donna...there til the end!!!!

@@stephenconway2468 there's another show in the likes of West Wing, but relating to the news division: The Newsroom. It's basically how news should be, in this time filled with fake news. And there's always Band of Brothers, which I know it's a miniseries, not a show, but I always find myself watching all 10 episode in one day when I want to enjoy them again. These 3 shows I can always re-watch and enjoy just like the first time. I can never see too much of Sam getting smashed on live TV on his first encounter with Ainsley, I can watch over and over again Will McAvoy answering a student why American is no longer the greatest country in the world and I still get the chills when I see the opening title of 'Bastogne' and prepare for a winter hell to unleash in WWII Ardennes.

The greatest scene, for me, was towards the end of the season 2 finale, right when Dire Straits 'Brothers in Arms’ started playing…Man, I got goosebumps. One of my favourite songs of all time being featured on my favourite tv show. That moment sums up the tumultuous road ahead, where the world is waiting to hear President Bartlet’s decision on whether he is running for a 2nd term or not. Simply mesmerising and marvellously done. I love it!

I bought season 1 as a teenager thinking I’d like it. great cast, great reviews I expected something like “A few good men” with some 24 meets house md. ‘A few good men’ was my favourite movie at the time. (Still is)
I was disappointed, I expected all talk and little/zero action but I didn’t expect the talk would be impossible for me to follow.
I got three episodes in and gave up.
Years later watching Steve jobs, I couldn’t put my finger on why I liked this movie. Eventually I realised it was the dialogue and writing. I looked up the writer and saw it was the dude that did ‘a few good men’ and ‘social network’ which I liked so I watched his other movies. Loved every one for the same reason I loved jobs and AFGM so decided to give The West wing another try since I was older, smarter and more mature than last time. I also had an interest in politics that I didn’t have before.
I loved it so much I watched it all in under two weeks, thought it declined a bit at the end but immediately went back to the Pilot and started again (but this time it was just seasons 1-4 since I learned that Sorkin left and that explained the drop in quality)
I’ve actually been rewatching it in a near constant loop since then. When I’m bored, depressed, stressed or craving some intellectual weight lifting… I just put on west wing.
Also love Studio 60 and newsroom. Haven’t watched all Sports night because I wanna save something in case he dies/quits unexpectedly and there’s no new sorkin work coming, that way when I watch a sorkin work for the first time, for the last time……I’ll know I’m eating an endangered species and can properly appreciate and savour it.
His work has actually equal parts inspired/scared me to become a writer. I wanna be a writer to do what he does….inspired.
I know however I’ll never be that good so why bother….scarred.
    Joke but true.
It’s interesting to me that the creative work of one person can alter the course of somebody else’s life and make him wanna do nothing but that.

I fell soo hard for this show the first season. There was much to recommend and it was really well done. The show and it's broad reaching effects (is it affects?) are good reasons to deny the broad paintbrush used to white-wash people who go into politics. This is what we hope for in the White House. This is the erudition, the intelligence and sensitivity we all wish existed in government at every level.
Along with Parks And Rec, we might just have some sterling examples of how things should be these days.
