All great tips. I have a 1994 Emmitt Smith authentic and I only wash it occasionally, inside out and with cold water. I also air dry it. These jerseys are expensive and it’s important to take care of them to ensure they last for years to come.
For white jerseys & sneakers I use clorox bleach pens and cold water. Put cold water first on the stain and then run the bleach pen on the stain. Let it air dry and most of the time the stains come off instantly
If the jersey numbers gets wrinkled, I usually use parchment paper to get the wrinkles out. I place it on top of the number and then apply heat from the iron. I’ve only tried this on swing man jerseys.
One should definitely use cold water for washing jersey whenever possible, but it is actually okay to use warm water on jerseys as long as it’s not over 100 degrees; some of the older baseball jerseys even had instructions to use warm water actually, as long as it’s made with good quality twill it shouldn’t bleed at that temperature. I only bring this up for people that may suffer from allergies and/or really dirtied up their jerseys badly, as allergens and bad stains are much better broken down in warmer water and makes the detergent more effective. But do stick with cold water otherwise to be safe. KL’s first point is a real underrated one IMO; I’ve seen people being way too liberal with jersey washing and no matter how carefully one does it, each wash will cause wear to the jerseys... though it’ll be minuscule it will add up over time if it’s done too often. And this especially goes for heat pressed jerseys that are less durable to begin with. So try to limit your washes and perhaps just designate a single jersey if you want to use it for actual activity use (playing ball, working out) separately from your collection pieces.
I just cold wash em inside out. I use Shout to get out the pit stains or deodorant stains. Spray it on and let it sit for a little minute. Add a little detergent and softener. Then I just do a short wash. Then I let it flat dry. Always one jersey at a time.
I have a tip and it’s that when you wear your jersey do not use perspirant deodorant whichs the 1 everybody uses . Use the aluminum free deodorant instead because this 1 doesn’t stain since it has no no aluminum but the only bad thing is that doesn’t last as long as the regular deodorant so what I do it’s I have 1 in my car or bring a small 1 with me .
I always hand wash my jersey in a clean sink or a separate large tub. I use very little whitening detergent if it's a white jersey and or a color brighter detergent if it's a colored jersey. I also add a dash of vinegar to help rejuvenate the colors on the jersey and brighten the whiteness... Depending on the dirty ness and or stains I'm working on I'll leave it soaking for 10 minutes to an hour. An hour for stained pieces and everything usually comes out. 10 minutes with some gentle swishing with my hands for regular jersey washing. Then I roll the jersey with a towel and hang dry.
@@plunger8343 so lay your jersey on a dry clean towel and gently roll it up. or just lay the wet jersey on the Towel for a couple minutes which will take out excess water
I have a few soccer jerseys & I follow the tag honestly when I need to wash. Some will say "Machine Wash Cold Water handwash delicate setting" something like that & usually wash them solo. Depends what the tag says & for smaller stains on the fabric I tend to use like a Scout/Oxi Clean stain remover spray and most of the time I eventually get the stains out. Also, I always turn the jerseys inside out when machine washing to help with sweat stains and also protect the club crest, manufacture logo & shirt sponsor as well the best I can. I hang dry them after they're done too. I try to get multiple wears out of them before washing too as well & am cautious when eating too to avoid the risk of staining
