@@freebird.v of course there are safe and dangerous areas. But to put the homicide rate into perspective, during the entire Vietnam war the Americans lost around 50,000 soldiers during couple of decades of fighting.

I just don’t want the people to believe that if they go to Brazil they stopped to this number that you are showing and think that this is all Brazil. Brazil is huge and yes you have really dangerous cities that are probably making most of this number that you are showing and other city really quiet.
Regarding security you're right and you're wrong. Most places are reasonably safe. But Brazil, like hardly any other country, has areas where if you accidently got in it, 90% of the time you won't get out alive. But under normal circumstances you don't get into these areas..
