Ive been racing with a 65" 4k TV 120fps for 2 years and Im happy, one crucial super important thing you need to do, is a "custom resolution", AMD adrenalin software has that option, in my case I made a resolution of 3440 x 1440, aspect ratio of 21/9, this put black bars on the top and botttom, reducing the vertical view just a little (like you say on ACC yo need to see huds) and the tv feels like a giant ultrawide screen.
This is a good option, one which I’ve experimented with before. Another benefit is it’s not rendering the nearly useless dark pixels above or below the windscreen, giving you more FPS or a more stable frame rate. I used to race with a Sony 55” 4K TV and tried running it at 3840x1080 once, the same aspect as a super ultra wide. It was on my TV stand, so too far away to make it viable, but definitely worth doing on a 65” screen mounted much closer to you.
Samsung tvs have ultrawide mode available from the menu - does exactly the same without hassle. Just not sure why would I prefer black bars to the cars roof or sky (in case of mx5 iracing :)
Have 4K120hz 48 inch Oled tv as my main monitor for last two years and yes, use it for simracing as well. Simply love it and think there is no turning back now.
Nope no mistake. I've been using a 65" for the last 4 years, but my reasons are different, I need to have the TV around 2 metres from me to avoid eyestrain. So I only get the same FOV as a circa 30" monitor mounted on my rig.
Win for TVs, I got a cheap 43" from Walmart, only use it at 60fps, and 1080, but it looks good enough and as no latency issues, so it does the job perfectly in my budget rig.
Depends on the person right? It's okay to use simracing as a study in order to become a real life racing driver, but at the same time it is okay to just have some good old fun, even if that means doing things that are unrealistic. But I agree that a lot of people take things a little too serious and can use a reminder to chillax and to not forget that they and others got into this to have fun.
I did this a year and a half ago, bought a 55" 120hz tv and I'm happy. Hope to do triples with it soon, so I would have 180º and full immersion ... I believe that on of the great gains is that you see more in the bottom part of the car, you can align the steering wheel with the dashboard, make it fit inside the wheel and the position you drive become much more natural, in small screens you need to put the dash above the wheel and you are always looking to the ceiling ...
I went the reverse, from a 55" to a 49" ultra. For some reason, the 55" so close to my face gave me headaches, so I had it further than optimal. The 49" ultra is much more comfortable, I love it. However I agree about the immersion- getting wrapped up in shaving seconds and upgrading tech we forget to enjoy our hobby sometimes. And AC is the best for that, offering any type of cruising or driving you can enjoy (except maybe crazy offroad), with the amount of mods. So forget what the FOV police or sim racing elites tell you, bottom line is have fun. Your setup looks the bomb btw, for a compact.
I went through a similar change from a 21:9 38inch 3840x1600 to 16:9 48 inch 4K LG OLED monitor. Similar findings of increased immersion. I was initially worried the higher screen was just a waste of pixels, but the extra car interior visible now helps to "feel" the car moving around. 138Hz and VRR is enough IMO and the rapid pixel response and OLED blacks are great. I did change away from static overlays etc for burn in reasons and now run a small dash behing the wheel for all the info I need. Overall very happy and wouldnt go back! Keep up the great content.
@@aaron0288 Clever idea though. I've been looking at wiring my home theater into my network, might see if I can make that work and what cables work for the distance
@@TheMash84 yeah, by forcing the black bars you're going to wear on the part showing the game, and the built in auto shift protection will just make it so it has some fade. Maybe using a neutral color instead of black for the bars would limit the difference
in my opinion just buy a better gpu to run 4k. Getting this setup and then destroying it with bad resolution isnt the smartest thing to do. a 4090 is worth it and should be bought if you got money for simracing in a good rig
@@lazycrate71 A 4090 is not worth it. 2 grand for a gpu is not worth it for anyone who would just be playing on one screen. If you can afford a 4090, you probably can afford a better setup that a single tv.
For absolute the same reasons as you mentioned I have a 55” with the same FOV as you have. I wanted to have a wide screen monitor but thought “hey!” I already have a “big” screen and I can make the same widescreen view but with extra screen at the top and on the bottom. And it works so well with the immersion 🏎️🏁
Weird, I feel totally different. I first had a 55” tv mounted behind the rig like you have now. Then I switched to an ultrawide monitor, it’s the 57” Samsung odyssey G9 Neo and mounted it directly behind the steering wheel, in front of the wheelbase. It also has a 1000mm radius, which means its curvature is pretty extreme. I feel so much more immersed with the monitor that’s very near to my face.
Same here, although mine is the older 49 inch version and the screen is about 40mm from my paddle shifters. Frequently also use TrackIR but with a fairly large deadzone in the center then a quick transition to the passenger side mirror. With the 57 I imagine you see the full passenger A pillar in most cars but not the mirror, is that correct?
30€ for a wall mount that is extensible by 410mm which is enough to cover the distance between wall and wheel base Just gotta get your height right from the beginning since it wont be heigh-adjustable
I live in an apartment with only 1 room, so the tv is the ONLY option for me... :) Of course, my 4 years old Samsung QLED's input lag is bad, and it's only 60Hz in 4K, but ACC looks amazing in 4K on a good tv even with game mode on. And if i turn off game mode for another games (adventure, horror, etc.), they look much-much-much better with a QLED TV's size, brightness and colors, than on 99% of the monitors.
Agree, got the samsung g95c and run it 120 hz (240 is possible too) VRR and g sync and with nvidia colors on 10 bit and in new nvidia beta app rtx hdr on for all games. Looks amazing on 1000 nits screen.

Whats really strange is if you use curved screens for a while , then use flat screens the flat screen looks like its bending the other way LOL , I think you mention it in the video as well. There is no way I can use a flat screen that big as close as you have it to your rig lol my eyes would explode , i think this sort of setup looks good in videos though.
This reminds me of the good old Gran Turismo back in the day. When the first time we switched from a CRT TV to a flat panel. Everything looks weird, concavely weird.
I have a 65" 4K 120Hz TV in my living room, had it since 2020, and I've repurposed it for my newly-assembled aluminum profile rig. Still waiting to get the seat(a Mitsubishi Eclipse one my friends raved about), but the TV is on a separate stand with wheels that can get way up close to my rig and then wheel right back to its original position in less than a minute. Haven't raced with it so far, but I'll have higher FOV than the 45" 32:9 5210x1440 monitor I was really tempted to get. The superwide was $550, stand was $120. I think I made the right choice, and my 4080 has no problem playing ACC, AC1 or Dirt Rally 2.0 at 4K 120FPS with headroom, so I should be set!
Big W. I use a 55 Hisense U7K 4k @144Hz. Absolutely perfect in iRacing for me. I sit 42 inches from the tv. I don't want it close cause I don't want to feel the heat coming off of it. Mount it on the wall and forget it. Hope you enjoy your tv!
Looks very immersive. I use a 46 inch panel, but I got up and did everything I could to get it as close to my rig as possible after watching this because of how cool yours looked. Need to get a VESA stand.
I think that whatever suits you best is a win. I myself am struggling to decide between single ultra wide, VR headset or triples, I don't have the space for triples, and the ultra wide costs as much as the Quest 3, VR is much more demanding and hardware dependant, but costing the same as an ultra wide, at least it opens up the opportunity to play other titles in VR, while the ultra wide would be way easier to run but it would only be used for sim racing as I have one monitor that I would use for gaming and general use. There's also the issue that I have no idea if I would get motion sick from VR, but if I pay 500 bucks on it, I'll force myself to use it anyway
Sure it has its ups and downs, but still a good upgrade imo. Like the portion hidden behind the wheel. I find even on smaller screens when I do this to get a little annoyed at what I can't see in menus and replays etc, but during the race its actually great as it adds that immersion and doesn't feel like there is just a cutoff point in front of you. Feels more like you are in a cockpit. So yeah overall a Win I would say.
As always, great video! Thank you! As for me, I've been using a 34 in ultra wide for about three years. It's been really fun and emersive. I added IR Tracker as a relatively low cost , and space effective alternative, to triple screens. I was considering buying a new, full size (55in) TV/monitor, for my rig, but decided to try a quest 3 instead. The Quest 3 has been an amazing and positive upgrade, definitely adding to my sense of realism. With some minor aftermarket upgrades, I have improved mask ventilation and added prescription modded lenses. I'm feeling pretty good with this setup. To make the larger TV/ monitor work, I 'll need to modify my rig a bit. But still might be worth it for when VR and my body just aren't getting along.
nice video ! i play iracing and ATS on a 55" i think it works great on those two tittles mainly because of moving FOV and seating position on screen . i get lost for hours driving and seeing the dials on my truck reacting to inputs. my tv sits about a foot behind my DD base
I recently set up my 55 inch LG C1 Oled on my rig and it’s amazing. Should have done it a long time ago. Running at 4K, 120HZ is just so good. The clarity and smoothness is night and day compared to the old LCD 4K 60HZ I was using before. The screen just pops
I’ve had a 43 on my rig since I first built it 5 years ago, the Playseat Sensation Pro has a built in mount. Running at 4K60 since I drive on Xbox though I’ve used it for work too (also 4K). For my needs it’s almost perfect, though I do have to tilt it down ever so slightly to get the view I needed. Another downside is that the bottom middle of the screen is obscured by the wheelbase and my dash, so for games like WRC which have menus down there I need to peer around. A big plus for console players is that it’s a 16x9 display with the feel of an Ultrawide, as Ultrawide isn’t supported on console hardware. If I was to do this again I would probably go for a 39 or a 40 (with 120fps or OLED), but I definitely agree with you that it’s a good solution for specific needs.
LG C3 is a good choice, 120hz and has almost zero input delay. I use the 42inch version for my PC and its been a very good PC monitor for me the past 4 months.
Heck even a used B9. It's what I got and it's just as good for simracing. Don't go any older though, else you lose 120Hz and HDMI 2.1. You'll have display compression and no VRR.
I have 55" oled, on a furniture. Triples would be better for the race, you see more, you can avoid crashes better (especially with iRacing with no radar). But with the big screen its more immersive imo.
I just received my csl dd. But already have my cockpit. Before watching this video I wasn't sure witch screen size to get. But like you said couldve gone triples, or ultrawide, but like your own logic and thought process I thought it would be best to do a 120hz gaming TV. So tomorrow I'm picking up a qled 120hz 4k TV. This video made me more sure this is the size I truly want!
I’m playing on 55’ inch TV, from the moment I switched to TV I didn’t regret for a second! I don’t know about triple screen setup all depends of the size of your room. Apparently 3x40’ inches will do the job. Enjoy your new purchase! 🍀
@13:07 is one of the most important parts of this video. The entire video is great, but that part is something we need to continue to remind ourselves about! Thanks for the reminder RC!
I had triple 24" 1080p monitors on my rig. Then I changed to triple 43" TVs but those took up WAY too much space. So now I'm using a single 43" 4k HDR flat monitor. Next I'm gonna do triple 32" TVs on the rig. Hopefully these fit the small space better...
I use triple 32s and of course I see the excitement in one giant tall screen. I primarily focus on the main screen anyways. For content creation you did the right thing.
I have a setup that is very similar to yours and I love it. I do have the space for two more LG C1, but I think I need to upgrade my pc first. In fact, I have a list of upgrades that I would make before buying two more 55 in monitors.
Have you tried using trackIR with this screen? That would be my main motivation for switching to a TV sized screen on my rig. I have a 32 inch ultrawide, which is pretty small in comparison. I love the idea of proper head movement to compensate for not having triples, but 32 isn't big enough for it to feel right.
I use a 65" 4KUHD TV mounted on the wall but I can pull it away from the wall quite a bit with the mount I used, the main problem with it is the reflections off the screen, not a problem at night with the room lights off but in the day it can be horrendous, that really is my only gripe with it vs. a dedicated monitor that has the anti-reflective screen.
It's great that TVs are finally getting the anti-reflective screens but I'll keep using this until it stops working, it really is the only negative thing about using a huge screen@@giogamer4825
Ahh man this video is 2 months too late for me! I bought a 77 not realising the sim would not scale the view, so controls on the dash were too big and with the correct FOV i didn't see my rear view and car door mirror any better. Switched to Quest3, amazing for sims!
I switched from a 34” ultrawide to a 50” 120hz TV and I don’t regret it. For me it is a perfect balance between immersion and competitiveness. If I want more peripheral vision I just increase the FOV a little bit when I’m competing, but the immersion and pleasure of pure driving, never is accomplished with an even bigger ultrawide monitor.
I would have mounted it a little higher so I could see the gauges better. Also if your rig can't run 4K I highly recommend upgrading. Gaming in 4K is soo nice!
This was a fun watch. I've been racing on my living room oled tv for 4 years now. I'm using the bonnet cam, because it pretty much makes sense for my pov. I considered moving my rig in another room and maybe buying a monitor for it, but it's just never gonna be worth it. The tv beats any sort of monitor easily, except maybe the super large super high end stuff which I can't afford anyway
Getting old, really hit me. Enjoy the immersive!! BTW, wheelbase blocking the dash is the only downside, but it's critical, getting an extension tube and put the base behind the TV maybe better?
without changing hardware, not possible. unless you go for a wider virtual fov, then there are other problems and distortions. physically, I had the UW screen pretty much at the top of the wheel shaft to the point I had to move it back so my fingers wouldnt snag it while shifting.
@@randomcallsign your talking about physical gov I'm talking about changing fov in the game. There was nothing stopping you setting the gov wider so that you can see as wide as you can see on the TV. You can get 38" , 40" and 45" ultra wide monitors too which are a much better option.
@@Steve30x a 55" 16:9 screen has virtually the same hFOV as a 49" ultrawide (32:9) screen. A 55" TV is pretty close to 2x 49" ultrawides placed on top of each other. A 55" TV gets you the same hFOV as a 49" ultrawide plus gives you a load of extra vFOV which helps with immersion.
Actual racers don’t use stationary tv mounts or rigs for sim racing, the monitor and rig needs to rotate to simulate actual vehicle moving. VR would be a great alternative instead of a triple monitor setup. Also, I couldn’t imagine looking at a screen that big, that close, fora long time. Holy eye pain.
What about projector? I have a flat white wall I can use and that would save me the cost of a monitor stand (and a good projector is still cheaper than a 4k TV)
Great idea if projectors had good input lag but they don't. You would have to get an industrial model and it's not worth the money. Actually many real racing teams simulators use projectors, but they don't have our budget. For the money, it's not a good idea, but technically it's the best solution out there.
Looks like you made a good decision. I'm curious about the 57" G9. I currently use a 43" 4k 144hz flat monitor. Space is tight for a triple set up and I'm considering going ultra wide. My GPU is a Radeon RX 7900 XTX and currently have no FPS issues on iRacing etc but would like more FOV. I cap FPS at 140 and it seems to stay there even on quite high graphics settings, however the 57" G9 would be a lot more pixels......oh and it's over £2k...
I use a 55" LG OLED, so W :) edit: and yes exactly, I got this for the immersion. for me simracing is all about peak immersion (for which realism is important, but not everything)
For certain reasons I had to switch to using a 4K Toshiba tv as a monitor for a couple of days. First off it was detected as a Generic pnp monitor by windows in device manager. Secondly the desktop seemed to be to big for the resolution (which was detected correctly as 3840 x 2160 @60hz) I couldn't see the windows start button and the part on the taskbar where you type stuff in the were off screen also I couldn't see the title bar on any program I ran they were also off screen. Next normally the Nvidia control panel would load and put and icon for the control panel in the notification area that didn't happen. Normally I would access the Nvidia control panel or display setting by right clicking on the desktop and selecting the option from the menu, but that didn't work either, what you happen is the desktop would momentarily turn blue and the go back to the desktop no right click menu would show up. Thankfully I'm back to using a proper monitor now but using the tv was just awful.
Ok nvm that's amazing, W. Don't forget to use the BFI mode if the TV has it. Few people knows about this but TVs with a such a display mode have a huge advantage of motion clarity over gaming monitor. Black frame insertion specifically, NOT motion smoothing as that will increase lag and looks terrible anyway, black frame insertion has next to no downsides so use it.
I would love to get a similar setup screenwise but I'm concerned about input lag. I've became used to 32" AOC 0,5ms response time. Even on some event rig they had tripple 27" 0,5ms. I saw the PD49" ultrawide with 0.3ms and became quite interested. I think input lag is the main reason for monitors vs TVs.
I have been using triple 55s. To save space you can mount the side screens using a tripod in a 90 degree format. You'll need a good gpu to keep up with the fps though.
Is burn in not an issue? Also, would it not make more sense to just use the TV like a 49" monitor? The width is virtually identical, so why not ditch the pixels at the top and bottom and just render a letterbox in the middle of the screen that would give you more of the side windows?
Burn in its not an issue. No, it wouldn't make more sense. Removing top and bottom, would do just that. The eyes fov is still the same and at the end the result sideways is the same, minus the top and bottom pixels and the lack of curvature.
Big screens are great for sim racing. Putting wheels on the rig to be able to switch between triple monitors and my large monitor setups in a flash was game changing
@@iseslc No windows does an excellent job of saving your monitor layout when switching as long as you have it selected to do so. Just change which monitor is the main monitor and you can switch back and forth with ease!
@@iseslc When it comes to in game like iRacing you do have to reconfigure your graphics but I play iRacing, RF2, and le mans Ult exclusively on triples so I don't have to change the settings. Then when I want to play other titles that don't have native triple support like F1, Forza, Dirt etc. I roll my rig over to my big tv setup
I still need to put my wheels on my rig... it's currently too low in comparison to my TV, plus it makes it easier to pull in front of the TV (and back into the corner when I'm done)
Are you running 1440p native? When I was running a 4k display on ACC I set resolution to 4k and then set resolution scale to something like 80%, means UI elements remain sharp and output resolution is crisp, but to be fair I didn't try 1440p native to compare
I'll add I'm thinking of doing something similar, I bought myself a 42" OLED that I use for normal gaming but my sim-rig is on a different floor, I'm moving countries this year so am thinking of building a gaming space with a movable stand for the TV that I can wheel my sim-rig under and out of the way for other games, depends on the house we end up buying as well, and I too have a 34" ultrawide that I currently sim-race with
For the ACC graphics try cranking sharpening up in the video settings and lower post processing. You can also try the sharpen Nvidia filter. Not saying they will fix it but worth a shot!
@@mattspeed I'm using a 55" too, and I agree. Don't go smaller, and in the future maybe we have curved displays this large so that larger could be an option :)

I totally agree with you, maybe because I'm getting older too 😂. Truly, I never understood people arguing that "triple 27" is the unique real size choice". Since early 90's with Microprose GP in a Samsung SyncMaster3 I made the entire travel using any kind of monitors and finally feel better using a single 50" tv. For me, If you want more: there is VR, if you want less there is the space limitations.
I loved using an old 60" led tv for a year but it was only 60hz so this 55 OLED would be a great option outside of a widescreen, the only small thing was the pixel size was more noticeable but not a major issue, I do prefer my triple 32" 1440s
@randomcallsign thanks for doing this! I wanted to know what it would be like to go from my 43” down to a 32” or 34” ultrawide right behind the wheel. Any chance you would like to try some kind of shaft extension to be able to to your Ultrawide right behind the wheel rim to see if the immersion is similar or better without loosing visibility of some of the gauges? 😂
Still use triple BenQ XR3501 with 180 degrees AoV. Not the highest resolution, but man those screens are good for simracing. Color accurate and high refresh rate. But I see the advantages of one huge OLED screen.
I have a 48" gigabyte aorus monitor, absolutely love it, problem is I keep my eyes out for some cheap 48" oled tvs to mount on the sides, turns out it's a really odd size for oleds, and the new ones are all more expensive than just buying 2 more of the gigabyte screens lol
I have 65’ LG OLED, g-sync 120hz. Nothing beats this TV in gaming not even monitors. Strictly VR up to this point with sim racing bout getting a stand and new rig today. Gonna be tough beating VR but sometimes I need a break from the headset.
Only recently got into PC sim racing (from console), and have orders in for triples & monitor stand (on the way). But I've been using an LG C1 --- FOV sucks on one screen. But boy did I have a hard time finding a suitable display replacement that can match an OLED's picture quality, HDR, and response time. Settled on the Samsung Odyssey Neo G7, which as a previous Samsung QLED TV owner, I already know has its problems.😒 But I also still want to play other games like Alan Wake 2, games that are really dark, and I don't want them looking all gray and hard to see in shadows, so I didn't want to go with a cheaper IPS panel, either ...
Seems way way too low - the general wisdom is to have your eyes level with the centre-line of the display. As for the display itself - I run a large 16:9 screen and think it works superbly well for sim-racing. My setup is a 60" 100Hz, 4K, HDR TV.
for immersion I would say a 42" TV is better, but how well either option works depends on the adjustment possibilities of your rig too. If you do get a TV, just make sure it doesn't have any major drawbacks, e.g. high latency.
Have you ever thought of trying VR? Your POV is never going to be as wide as looking at let's say triples, however since you aren't using triples, VR might be a fine way to get even more immersed without taking any space up. Downside is I don't know if every racing game can be ran in VR.
The G9 ultra wide has an width of 115cm and this 55 inch is 123cm so this tv has more or same FOV compared to the ultra wide samsung. YES it had different aspect ratio but this its the same width so you just missing out on all the screen that is above and below it would be on this tv. All i am trying to say, so many people think ultra wides have higher fov but this is not true. Its all about the width that can make ur fov higher. Upper and lower is just an extra you get (and cost more pixels). If i am wrong please explain.
you can get a UW really close to the steering wheel. that means, comparitevely, a ultrawide monitor has more fov per inch than a TV. Though, the TV, because of the size and distance to the eyes, will feel more lifelike.
I use a 43” Samsung 4k tv because of playing on PS5, now my working theory(and what I hope to afford soon) is a triple screen setup…… I believe I can use a video wall controller and 3 screens for this, just currently saving up for it.

You probably meant 3840*1440, otherwise you're running non native resolution on the horizontal axis.
Samsung tvs have ultrawide mode available from the menu - does exactly the same without hassle. Just not sure why would I prefer black bars to the cars roof or sky (in case of mx5 iracing :)
Would it be an overkill to play with this TV on PS5?
Yes, but aren't you essentially going back a step from true 4K 2160 to 1440?
Have 4K120hz 48 inch Oled tv as my main monitor for last two years and yes, use it for simracing as well. Simply love it and think there is no turning back now.
Nope no mistake. I've been using a 65" for the last 4 years, but my reasons are different, I need to have the TV around 2 metres from me to avoid eyestrain. So I only get the same FOV as a circa 30" monitor mounted on my rig.
Win for TVs, I got a cheap 43" from Walmart, only use it at 60fps, and 1080, but it looks good enough and as no latency issues, so it does the job perfectly in my budget rig.
the biggest downside is not having view of the windows. not for traffic - but for seeing corner turn ins and exits earlier. like MUCH earlier.
Good vid, simracing is about fun, sometimes we forget its not all about numbers and laptimes.
You can set up a custom resolution (ultra wide) in NCP and use a big TV as an ultra wide monitor. Tried that with my 65” C1. Works very well.
Scary for OLED
@@CookinBeatloafgood point, and I must stress I don’t actually use it for that very reason. But on big LCD/LED TV’s it’s an option.
@@aaron0288 Clever idea though. I've been looking at wiring my home theater into my network, might see if I can make that work and what cables work for the distance
@@CookinBeatloaf is it because of burn-in?
@@TheMash84 yeah, by forcing the black bars you're going to wear on the part showing the game, and the built in auto shift protection will just make it so it has some fade. Maybe using a neutral color instead of black for the bars would limit the difference
Keeping the resolution at 4K and playing around with DLSS or FSR settings in ACC will give you better image quality than native 1440p
You can also set a custom resolution of eg 3184x1800 to gain 20% performance but loose a bit of immersion
in my opinion just buy a better gpu to run 4k.
@drewwatson6980 Look on Market place for used 4090s. Much less than $2k.
@@lazycrate71I thought sim racing used more CPU power more than GPU?
Curious to know why aren't triples practical in that room..?
30€ for a wall mount that is extensible by 410mm which is enough to cover the distance between wall and wheel base
Just gotta get your height right from the beginning since it wont be heigh-adjustable
Most important is some form of VRR, then at least 90-120hz capable, then good pixel density at viewing distance, after that it is personal preference

Gotta push that virtual seat back. Dash and rear view cam are way too big. That will increase how much you can see on the sides too.
But won’t that then mean his view will be too far away? The dashboard in game looks the right size, right?
@6:44 "You will buy Fanatec, whether you know it or not. Muhahaha ha ha *cough*"
yeah just saw that, lol. it was part of the clip ive put at the start and I forgot to delete it from the timeline.,
I have my 55” OLED 2 inches away from my wheelbase/cockpit and I have the FOV set and it’s amazing
I really like how you get so much of the interior as well
Right? With monitors we often loose so much of the interior. Its refreshing to see the car details without having to go for VR
I recently set up my 55 inch LG C1 Oled on my rig and it’s amazing. Should have done it a long time ago. Running at 4K, 120HZ is just so good. The clarity and smoothness is night and day compared to the old LCD 4K 60HZ I was using before. The screen just pops
Plus the night racing is incredible! It's night and day (lol) compared to a VA or IPS panel.
If I was to do this again I would probably go for a 39 or a 40 (with 120fps or OLED), but I definitely agree with you that it’s a good solution for specific needs.
can you share the bracket you used to mount to the profile? Cheers !
So what?? 😉
How is it to your eyes? Sitting so close to a big screen have to be realy harsh on your sight.
yeah
Samsung S95D 2024, will have matt Tv screen. Not my choice, but maybe something for you?
It's great that TVs are finally getting the anti-reflective screens but I'll keep using this until it stops working, it really is the only negative thing about using a huge screen@@giogamer4825
Ahh man this video is 2 months too late for me! I bought a 77 not realising the sim would not scale the view, so controls on the dash were too big and with the correct FOV i didn't see my rear view and car door mirror any better. Switched to Quest3, amazing for sims!
a 77 you need to push it back a lot, I think. Theres a point where flat panels are going to hurt perceptions.
What sim?
@@randomcallsign here's to hoping for heavily curved TVs :D (or TV-sized monitors, haha)
Dont let age slow you down. I'm 41 and only getting faster. 55" oled Sony tv. Vr when available
Same as here 54 with 55 Sony Bravia OLED and wouldn’t change, well maybe another 2 lol.
2:55 there was nothing stopping you from increasing the FOV on the ultra wide and you could have gone even wider with the ultra wide and see more.
without changing hardware, not possible. unless you go for a wider virtual fov, then there are other problems and distortions.
physically, I had the UW screen pretty much at the top of the wheel shaft to the point I had to move it back so my fingers wouldnt snag it while shifting.
I use a 55" LG OLED, so W :)
edit: and yes exactly, I got this for the immersion. for me simracing is all about peak immersion (for which realism is important, but not everything)
i think there was something going on with JSON in OBS... lol
Jason messed me up mang
FoV Police incoming, TV is awsome for simracing, as long as you dont use FoV Calculators it can be very good.
I run a 60" TV for sim racing and also use a FOV calculator for a "correct" FOV - works very well.
How about side mirrors? At least the left side one seems to be missing
You'll need a good gpu to keep up with the fps though.
can you correct the perspective of that?
Is burn in not an issue?
Also, would it not make more sense to just use the TV like a 49" monitor? The width is virtually identical, so why not ditch the pixels at the top and bottom and just render a letterbox in the middle of the screen that would give you more of the side windows?
Burn in its not an issue.
No, it wouldn't make more sense. Removing top and bottom, would do just that. The eyes fov is still the same and at the end the result sideways is the same, minus the top and bottom pixels and the lack of curvature.
Now compare this with VR please.
Awesome video. What tv are you using / suggest?
Big screens are great for sim racing. Putting wheels on the rig to be able to switch between triple monitors and my large monitor setups in a flash was game changing

Not saying they will fix it but worth a shot!

what are you using to be able to play GT7 with that wheelbase and pedal setup? Thanks!
I use a 65" LG for my experience on a similar wheeled monitor stand as you. It's great. Also use VR too, but big screen TV's are a big W.
I have a 50 inch TV and I couldn’t put it as close as you have. I feel like it’s too straining to my eyes. May I ask what’s your pov set up in ACC ?
@randomcallsign thanks for doing this! I wanted to know what it would be like to go from my 43” down to a 32” or 34” ultrawide right behind the wheel. Any chance you would like to try some kind of shaft extension to be able to to your Ultrawide right behind the wheel rim to see if the immersion is similar or better without loosing visibility of some of the gauges? 😂

I feel like a 49" or especially a 57" 32:9 would be way better. You have the massive curve, and much higher pixels per inch.
Scale is not the same
Hi
I am bulding a rig. I didn´t decided yet, if am going do 34" ultrawide or a 42" TV. For immersion do you recomend 42" TV instead of 34"ultrawide?
I cant say whats better for you
for immersion I would say a 42" TV is better, but how well either option works depends on the adjustment possibilities of your rig too. If you do get a TV, just make sure it doesn't have any major drawbacks, e.g. high latency.
May i ask what FOV settings did you use for ACC?
Have you ever thought of trying VR? Your POV is never going to be as wide as looking at let's say triples, however since you aren't using triples, VR might be a fine way to get even more immersed without taking any space up. Downside is I don't know if every racing game can be ran in VR.
I've used vr before for years. I don't like vr.
get opentrack software (free download) & webcam to see more of the screen. This would be VR without the headset.
Hahah. Glad to see you've finally come around to authentic enjoyment.
PS: Get the other two VDUs. You won't regret them.
@@randomcallsign good point ur 100% right my bad!
I use a 43” Samsung 4k tv because of playing on PS5, now my working theory(and what I hope to afford soon) is a triple screen setup…… I believe I can use a video wall controller and 3 screens for this, just currently saving up for it.
Hi mate I love your content.
I'm new to Sim racing and ACC.
Would you be kind enough to share your fov settings for ACC.
I have 55imch tv aswell.
I set fov to 53 aswell but cannot see the 720 dash like you can on your video.
what is your pc config ? cpu gpu?
Response times vary greatly from tv to tv. I’ve been using a 65 inch lg model for years which has a response time of 9ms. Which isn’t bad for a tv.
Great setup, and if you are happy with your choice you need no validation from anyone else but your missus 😂 once we lose enjoyment in anything it's already gone into the realm of sadness if we keep on pushing so have fun and let no-one tell you what you should enjoy and be happy with.
