    How glossy is this coating? It seems good, but it has never wowed me like other coatings. I think the durability is very impressive. Thanks, Gabe

      Pretty damn glossy, everywhere I go I am breaking necks and blinding people!

    Interesting you have me thinking now about this. Also not sure of the set up u have in the garage or if u have proper drainage but just be careful with water in your garage. My neighbor used to wash his car in the garage and he had no adequate drainage. The floor over a few years started shifting and sinking. He had to get his garage floor re done.

      I do not have a drain but the hope was it runs off the driveway, but something I will think of now.... thanks for the heads up man. Surprised the house didn't come with a pre built drain in that case.

      @@carswithsonduren np. man. Just a heads up that all. Do u ceramic coat the IS? I'm interested in feedback for year round daily driven vehicles especially in our winters. Once a year, every year i fight with rail dust (orange spots). They come off but its a chore. I was wondering if ceramic coating eliminates the build up of rail dust?

    How did you maintain the coating all this time ? Also how often do you drive it ? Any snow and salt driving ?
    Cheers 🇨🇦

      Regular washes every 2 or 3 weeks and I have driven the car 10,000km in the last 2 years combined. No salt or snow driving

    How many layers did you apply bro?

  • @Beach_Master
    @Beach_Master 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    This may be a dumb question because I'm completely unfamiliar with films, but could it be that the coating is completely gone and the film itself is that hydrophobic?

    • @carswithsonduren
      @carswithsonduren  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The film itself is not hydrophobic but that is a question I had before too. The film will help with some things like preventing hard water spots but does not create the hydrophobic effect, thus it is the coating 👍

    Can you put wax on top of the ceramic coating? Or should you even be doing that?

    • @carswithsonduren
      @carswithsonduren  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well you can if you want but you're actually not doing any good because the wax will have a harder time bonding to a ceramic. typically if you want to add additional protection to a ceramic coating you would apply a ceramic topper

    • @danlc95
      @danlc95 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Optimum is the only one I know of that says it's ok, so long as it doesn't contain abrasives.
      You'd want to stay away from most cleaner waxes or "all in one" waxes.
      I've used Optimum Car Wax a lot through the years on top of Gloss Ciat with no issues at all.
      You could use a pure wax too, something like Zymol Creame or Carbon.

    Who likes them large thick water beads?

    • @somebrownguy07
      @somebrownguy07 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What I'm noticing with my car (parked outside), the water beads just dry up (after rain for example) and stays on the car as water spots.
      Isn't beading kind of counter productive for keeping your car clean? isn't water sheading off it more desirable? I'm noticing my car without coating-just waxed, looking cleaner after rains than the coated car.

    • @albertngu3473
      @albertngu3473 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      your R8 still looks flawless. Any plans with it?
      I have a Golf (TSI) as a daily driver. It's not an expensive car but I still like to keep it looking sharp. Would you recommend putting a ceramic on without paint correcting? (it's got some very minor swirls after several years of washing with 2 bucket method)

    • @carswithsonduren
      @carswithsonduren  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@somebrownguy07 Hey George, your right the beading is really something to help with removing the dirt and keeping the car cleaner longer by allowing it to slide off the car but it is still suspect to water spotting which is why drying the car is so important! Sheading is another desirable aspect as well, probably and maybe more so.

    • @carswithsonduren
      @carswithsonduren  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@albertngu3473 Thanks Albert! I try my best to keep this baby mint. Not sure about any future plans, potentially minor things but nothing major. The proper way would be to get it fully polished, but if your happy with the current condition and its very minor swirling, you COULD but it will effect the durability of the coating. I would just give another fine polish after a wash and clay and put on the ceramic! What color is your Golf btw!?

    • @MoiFidodido1966
      @MoiFidodido1966 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hate beading because every time it rains the beads dry off and create stains, or even worse mineral spots. Sheeting is what I like!!
