As a long time corrections officer, I can tell you that any time a woman is in charge of a male facility, things always go wrong, and furthermore, almost all of the people that are "in charge" have never worked inside of a prison and are just going off of what they read in a fancy book or learned at their overpriced liberal colleges.

Yes Jan 6 patriot Americans are being held in solitary confinement, not charged with a crime, they are severely punished as they are kept in the ragged deplorable section of the prison and when they complain too their attorneys they are beaten and further deprived of human rights by a prison system run by a political party all orchestrated by a corrupt president that is allowed by the media to inflict his tyrannical rule upon the people that have opposition too his rule.
It is amazing that the DOJ under the corrupt Biden administration didn’t utilize the phone data as they did for the American citizens that trespassing into the capital on Jan 6 for the Palestinians and their supporters that trespass into the capital and held the same space for hours. Yes the DOJ didn’t use the phone data to hunt and take into custody the Palestinians and their supporters.
These corrupt politicians use the absolute lies that no voter fraud or irregularities were found by the court. This is an absurd lie . The courts in over 50 cases sighted “ no standing “, so the cases where never put too trial. The courts handed the Tyrannical Biden and his administration a gift by not hearing these cases which involved sworn affidavits under the oath of perjury, there by not issuing a order of Discovery. I as well as many of my Fellow Americans strongly believe that Discovery order would have brought evidence that would shed a light on election fraud and the conspiracy too steal the Presidential election of 2020.
      Digressing
Senator Dick Durbin we the American people know your are a publicity stunt politician, you only preform in front of the cameras. All Americans that are aware of the lies told by The Corrupt President Biden about Jan 6 . Always mentioning how many law enforcement officers were killed that day. We all know that this is a lie , as non died as a result of this act of trespassing! However a Capital police LT with a very disturbing prior record ambushed a American Veteran that was un armed not acting or showing any type of aggressive behavior was cold bloodily murdered by this officer.
It is hypocritical how this DOJ and the corrupt politicians have not demanded an investigation into this Police LT using deadly force. The use of Deadly force by a law enforcement officer as you know has too meet a specific set of requirements! It is absurd too remotely justified that an officer hid behind a door an open fire at the first person that crossed over the threshold of that doorway. Never actually seeing the individual until his gunshot scored a direct hit bringing the unsuspecting victim down . In this case he murdered a three tour veteran named Ashley Babbit. The veteran a female of small stature just by looks imposed no danger to the armed police officer with his gun drawn and aimed at doorway where he fired blindly into it as Ashley Babbit crossed over the threshold.
Senator Dick Durbin we the American people are demanding that you look into this shooting of an unarmed woman by a Capital police Officer. We the American people demand that you and the rest of the corrupt politicians stop being hypocrites, and do your job and look into the case of a American veteran that served her country for three tours of duty honorably and with integrity. Ashley Babbit holds a high level military clearance not given to just any soldier. As a Senator you owe the Family and the American people an investigation into her murder. I hope that you do not turn a blind eye to this matter, as a lawyer you clearly know the criteria for a law enforcement officer to use deadly force, and unless you truly are a hypocrite you will hold an investigation!!!’

No one should be in solitary confinement unless they pose a significant danger to other prisoners. It's mental torture that no one deserves. Decency and dignity are expected to be shown to your fellow humans. That's part of living in a developed western nation. A mostly Christian nation, at that.
Protective custody is not the same as being in a small room 22 hours a day without any human interaction at all (not even guards). It is the deprivation of human contact, clocks, sunlight, etc. that is a violation of 8th amendment.

I think that prison health officials should actually spend some time inside a prison enviroment. My father was a CO at a prison. One day one of his colleagues was held at knifepoint by a group of inmates while another one sliced open the abdomen of a prisoner, cut out his liver, and threw it on the floor. Although the guard was released after the victim died, I should think that kind of inmate behavior would result in solitary confinement. Of course no senate committee will ever call me as anexpert witness to ask me my opinion, even though I am a retired special educator certified in emotional and behavioral disorders and I am currently a member of the Bar..

Wow. It’s like some of these people have never witnessed extreme violence. I have in county jail and in women’s prison. And I’ve witnessed a woman in a meth induced psychosis who was attacking other inmates and then hitting her head on her cell door.
There are times when a person has to be physically restrained. They sometimes need to be restrained to the medical bed while the physicians examine and usually medicate the person. The person will need to be in solitary until they stabilize but the doctors and nurses are checking them multiple times a day and it’s only a temporary intervention.
Violent people need to be restrained and separated while undergoing evaluations and treatment.

  • @stephentaylor9366

What is the difference between a parent telling a child “Or Else” as a reminder that if they keep up an inappropriate behavior they will receive consequences, and saying to a prisoner that “if he continues his behaviors, he may face solitary confinement?” “Go to your Room!!” Is a solitary confinement and it seems to have the positive effect often needed to check inappropriate behavior with kids. The senators waste time on issues that affect people whose behaviors have placed them in prison to start with. Apparently the prisoners they think they can rule their prison environment inappropriately just as they did outside of prison. Restraint of dangerous activities within the walls of a facility should be handled by people who have to live and work there daily, and are exposed to danger from all quarters!! Separating them works to help keep order. Perhaps we should do the same with dumb senate committees like this one!! The women testifying here are using info of such an environment from an inmate.
