I have been doing various crafts over the years and my daughter did art for her final high school years (HSC in NSW, Aus) so I can say that in the crafting world Liquitex is considered a great entry level brand. I would recommend that if you already have a heap of acrylic paints, as we do, and don’t want to have to buy a ton of new fabric paints, go ahead and get the fabric medium and do a few swatches on a separate piece of fabric of the same kind that you want to paint on. I am watching this for my daughter and we already have a good range of acrylic paints and so this is the method that we will do. We haven’t yet researched how many types/brands of fabric mediums are available in our area. So I can’t say which medium we will try. I read in the comments of one of this channels other videos that there is a product called GAC 600 or 900? Something along those lines, that is an excellent product for acrylic painting on fabric. I have not yet researched what it actually is whether you mix it with the paint or if it is a kind of sealant to use later? This channel does have a video where she talks about the importance of swatches and of testing. Which is what we are planning to do which I will give the basics of. In case you don’t find the actual video. We will as she recommended, swatch tests of the colours my daughter wants to use, mixed with the medium as per their instructions and then once they are dry we will then again follow all of the instructions of the medium to set and then wash the test piece. If the medium doesn’t work or give satisfactory results then only a small outlay has been wasted. I hope this helps and if you did go ahead and do a project on fabric I would love it if you could share what it was you used and what your thoughts are! 😊
Hello,
I have a question🙏 What do you think about Liquitex fabric medium? Will I get the same effect as fabric paints?
I have been doing various crafts over the years and my daughter did art for her final high school years (HSC in NSW, Aus) so I can say that in the crafting world Liquitex is considered a great entry level brand.
