Saying Bangladesh was the poorest part of British India is kind of misleading, because it was the richest region in India which was the richest region in the world, Bengal had trade connections with ancient Rome and china. Much of the Ottoman fleet was made in Chittagong port.
    The British made Bengal poor.

One thing you missed about the genocide is why it’s described as a genocide. It wasn’t just the mass killing, but the methodical and premeditated way the Pakistani government had gone about it. There are many examples: In 1896, Argentina had per capita income parity with the United States, which many credit to Domingo Sarmiento's educational reforms. However, Argentina did not create top universities in the 20th century and got stuck as middle income country. Bengal was one of the richest trading destinations for the Europeans who arrived with superior weapons and invaded in stead of just trading.
So it is very misleading to just start from the 1947 or 1971.
But our history of not invading other countries isn’t sexy at all!
Bangladesh has self sustaining features with fertile soil sufficient water and decent working populations.
Unfortunately corruption and incompetence among the bureaucrats and politicians have been a perineal problem.
Because of political expediency they failed to mention the role of Dr Mohammad Yunus in pioneering of the woman’s rights and emancipation !
Late Mr Nurul Qader, a retired high officer who single-handedly started the entire Garments sector after he went to S Korea and learned about the garments industries.

one of the greatest threat to bangladesh is how power transitions from one person to another. if u talk to anyone here, they still support the idea that leadership should transition in a hereditary path instead of competence based debate and election.
if u look into how the two major or any party vaying for an election all of them have its leaders associated with their founders. Hasina got party nomination cuz she was its founder's daughter and zia got the same cuz she was the wife in her party. this problem is so deeply rooted in our culture and thinking that its not even discussed in any conversation. Leaderships and how they are chosen is an important aspect of a working democracy, and should not captured by family dynastic politics. we should have serious discussions on how we choose our leaders and be aware of nepotism in our current system.
ofcourse the country is becoming more and more one party state as there is no opposition and laws such as digital security is eroding freedom of speech and discussion which is another can of worms.

The Padma Bridge project entailed a collaboration between companies from China and Bangladesh, with the aim of building a bridge to connect the states in Bangladesh for improved trade and it's people. Despite the setback, Bangladesh government officials have demonstrated prudence in their approach to infrastructure development, recognizing the importance of road connectivity in promoting economic growth and development.
