Impressive little inverter. Victron definitely doesn’t have any apologies to make in the idle consumption department. Those numbers continue to amaze me.
I connected 2 multiplus 1600 compacts, 12v, one operating as an inverter, with the output going to the input of the second, operation as a charger, ( a loop) the Charger was 73% efficient the inverter was 72% efficient, round trip efficiency 52.5% ( watts in watts out) so if you use the inverter to charge and discharge round trip is 52.5% you are wasting half your energy. (I am prof. Elec engineer) Please correct me if I am wrong.
I did some tests on the efficiency of the battery charger ( a Multiplus) 12v 1600, when charging a li battery at 50 amps, measuring watts in and watts out, efficiency was only 73% ( certified instrument) which I think is poor, however the power factor was 0.998 so good for running off an inverter generator. I will test my 48V and see if it is any better. I done like wasting 25% when I am camping and charging from a Generator. So i built for comparison, a 300-watt toroidal transformer rectifies with ideal (mosfet diodes) and 8-gauge leads, this was 92% efficient 0.94 power factor unregulated but when I am camping I only use it with my 1000watt Yamaha inverter generator and I do not charge more than I need to ( solar is the main)
Interesting and detailed videos. The fewer empty words, the better! We're looking forward to a video about solar panel systems and their integration with Multiplus II.There's a new EasySolar. It won't be on the tests? Everything is built-in right away: solar, control, and inverter. I'm curious, how does it mix solar with the grid? Which is better, to get an all-in-one system or a separate inverter and solar controller?
Low frequency transformer based inverter/chargers like these are so much better than those cheap high frequency, transformerless inverters that everyone is using in those expensive solar generators. Low frequency transformer based inverters last far, far longer and can easily power high surge loads without being damaged and without damaging your appliances.
@@CurrentConnected i disagree aswell, even my homemade 8kw inverter with a simple h brigde and big toroidal transformer are at a better efficiency, cleaner sinewaves aswell. priced high aswell, victron ok if you dont have anything else but poor for the consumer cant fix most of their stuff alot pottet to hell, ok ish buildquality but nothing really to write home from
Was watching a video you did on powering up the capacitors on a Quattro using a 48v incandescent light bulb.. just wondering if you had the unit switched on or off whilst you did this.. I’m guessing it was off...? 👍
Yes, it works with any PV setup. I am using two Multiplus with Enphase micro inverters feeding the grid. Using the new Viction VM-3P75CT Grid meter and putting the CT clamps measuring the grid, and installing ESS Assistant, it will see the negative feed from the solar, and either charge the batteries or use the PV power for the loads. Works really well.
Do you have the manufacturer or model numbers to any of these 48v inverters "of similar size that draw 2-3 amps" ?? If ANY 2kw (or similar size) inverter pulls that sort of current at 54.63v (48v) then there is definitely a malfunction with said inverter. Maybe you could actually compare the idle power consumption instead of comparing just the current draw of a 48v vs 12v inverter if that is what you actually meant. Two different scenarios here. Thanks for the looksy inside the Victron inverter.
We aren't looking to name-drop and talk down on any manufacturer, but I invite you to look up some competitors offering 2kW low frequency inverters. Many of the cheap ones coming from overseas waste power like no one's business!
Victron lo mejor del mundo mundial, un aparato de alta frecuencia te consume mínimo 50w a la hora en vacío no hay nada comparable a Victron, puede que no de toda la potencia por eso duran siglos
Just got not one, but two bad ones. 3k 48v MP2's. They have a 25Hz PWM fan rattle that sounds like an old dodge diesel motor. Horrible noise. Now I have to fight with the dealer to get them replaced. There is NO fix as its a bad motherboard, not bad fan. Victron continues to sell these with bad 25hz pwm and they know its a problem.
@@dmytrodance Schneider Conext SW4048 4kW 48VDC Inverter/Charger 120/240VAC. Its about 1,000x better quality and not built like a toy. If you have issues snieder will back you up unlike Victron.

Totally agree

Happy to see the guts of a name brand...
Would love to see a video on the programmable relay.

SOLID Victron, you get what you pay for!
Absolutely!

Victron also has a major competitive advantage over other brands - Efficiency!

try to compare Victron vs Studer Innotec inverter...thanks

It was off, otherwise the capacitors would be drained the moment the light bulb was disconnected.
Thanks for getting back to me..👍
Is it possible to connect Victron Multiplus or Multiplus II and Enfase microinverter in a hybrid network? If so, how would that happen?

What's the THD? You could measure it

THIS IS NOT MultiPlus-II ! It's just MultiPlus (without II).
Yes but it’s a new revision of the Multiplus. But still a Multiplus.
