  • The inverters Victron Energy are one of the most reliable in the world, but even they sometimes require repairs. During installation, we faced with a factory defect which we removed on the spot without having to return the equipment to the manufacturer. The problem consisted of a lack of voltage at AC-2 output (non-critical load), two minutes after switching on the inverter and when there was voltage in the outside network. The reason was a bad contact in a control connector to a relay. en.nencom.com

    Thank you for showing this, but I thought Victron equipment must pass a QC test before it is boxed for shipping? How could this unit have passed that test?

      Probably, during the test, these contacts touched each other and the test was passed. Then there were vibrations during transportation. It should also be noted that it was quite cool in the room during the installation. All this could lead to the formation of a gap between the contacts.

    hello, i have problem with my victron quatro5000 , it not turning on if not ac present on input 1 or 2, it goes to inverter mode only if ac input 1 or 2 are present but not passthrough just drain from batteries. when i select charge mode i can hear a click but it is turning off immediately it does that infinites times

    Great video, Thanks for spending the time making it! I have Quattro 10kva and it sound like the left fans is rubbing on something inside. It was hard to see n you video how the fans were removed. Can you provide me any advice on how to remove them please? Thanks

      Sprechen Sie über 4:05? Ich finde es auch komisch. Ich denke, dass die Designer gleichzeitig das Erscheinungsbild des Laderegler und der Sonnenenergie zeigen wollten und zwei Zeichnungen anfertigten.

    Putting the charge controllers inside an enclosure is just a bad idea ! They have heat fins on them for cooling ! So how does the unit cool itself inside a small enclosure now ? Very dumb !

      This box has large vents, one at the bottom right, the other at the top of the case. There is also a temperature sensor inside the box, recording the entire temperature history in minute detail. The system has been operating for over two years and there are no breakdowns or overheating.

      Thank you for your comment. We did not intend to creat a lesson explaining the repair of the inverter. The repair had to be performed quickly and we shot this video "just in case" but then we decided to make it public. The stages through which the repair has passed can be described very briefly as follows:
      1. Firstly, we found the relay responsible for the voltage supply at the AC-2 output (for non-critical loads)
      2. We supplied the working voltage to this relay and found out that it was properly working.
      3. Then we checked the control signal cable and found a problem in one of its connections.
      4. We recovered the broken connection and everything worked normally thereafter.

      Sorry for such a late reply, we rarely go here. The Quattro 48/8000 inverter requires a 300 amp fuse. This can be seen in the instructions on page 9 in section 4.2 "Connecting the battery cables" en.nencom.com/products/victron-energy-inverters

    Charge controller in a cabinet is a no no!

      This is no problem if passive ventilation is provided. Sometimes we install in the cabinet not only a controller, but also an inverter. We use a temperature sensor, and the entire history of temperature changes is stored on the VRM portal, so we know for sure that there is no problem even on the hottest days.       Unless it is installed outside then there is no need for a box.

      For the temperature compensation to work correctly the mppt and batteries ambient temps must be within 5°C of each other to work efficiently.
      These controllers produce alot of heat so passive cooling vents etc is not recommended.
      Unless installed in very cold climate conditions. Not here in Australia.
      Even a broken clock is correct twice a day!

      ​@@Maycoral Operating temperature for Victron Energy controllers ranges from -30 to + 60°C (full rated output up to 40°C). The actual temperature inside the cabinet does not rise above 40°C even on the hottest day at full controller power. Regarding temperature compensation, you are, of course, right. That is why we install the temperature sensor directly on the batteries, and the controller always knows exactly their temperature. The historical data from both temperature sensors, as well as the voltage and current values ​​are available to us in the form of diagrams with minute detail, so we know that everything is fine. In addition, Bulgaria is not as hot as Australia.

Connect the temperature sensor supplied with the inverter (Multi, MultiPlus, MultiGrid or Quattro) ...
