Enki’s Arc Witch feels like a legendary build to me, not necessarily because of how OP it was but because of how many people it got into the game because of how detailed it was for new players. Everyone I know who plays, including myself, started with that build.
Enki's Arc Withc and Pohx's RF guide are just so good at holding hand and had an easy gameplay. When you include the guides, maybe the best beginner builds in POE1 history. Also, Enki and Pohx are just really chill and helpful dudes.
Kipps first Discharge build was the most legendary moments in PoE's history. It was so broken that GGG had to permantly change how a keystone passive functions due to being an unkillable screen blaster.
No poet's pen zerphi's (possible indigon) build? It was broken AF. People used VD for bossing and arc + lightning warp for instant mapping. 1 button build whole screen coverage, instant regen, ridiculous damage. RIP instant zerphi flask and dual-wielding poet's pen. Imo was stronger than prime aurastacker.
Ele buzzsaw was the first posted Atziri kill, in the seasonal league before anyone in standard did it. It raised the price of Alphas Howl from 1c to 7ex
immortal delver during delve league with perma gluttony of elements, originally a build that used negative resistance to always outheal any phys damage taken with lightning coil, before eventually becoming a 1 hp 6 es build to be immune to chaos and played by Dan that died to Congealed Blood from Bloodlines - basically the only thing that could have killed him and it happened because we all collectively as a community forgot it existed with a phys degen. A build with 1 HP and 6 ES in hardcore reaching 1500+ depth, should explain itself I personally played this build on Pathfinder in HC as well to past 600 depth before making a mistake by letting Gluttony of Elements drop in the middle of the path, instantly dying since I had over -110% resistance and 2k life so basically anything that hit me was going to kill me
This one is up there for sure, also a variation of flicker strike could have been there aswell its iconic, even if flicker is in poe 2 aswell it probably wont be yhe same.

The Aura/Herald stacker build was so broken that it was close to being hard nerfed like 1 week after release of Delirum League and the marked paniced and flipped .The whole community went crazy, absolutely wild times back then in delirium I never made more divines during 1 day ever again lol
10:12 Mathil touched on this in his 'top 10 all time builds' vid, during an interview w/Chris they pulled up the earnings for that MTX and saw they had sold ~$800k by that point, but it was unclear to what extent Mathil had on that
The build that i loved the most was old BV/Vaal Pact Berserker. The 100% leech from old Berserker with old Vaal Pact and the 50 blades out felt so good.
rory's "this character is very capable of playing high level content, I wanted to demonstrate it in a rare version of a level 61 map" low life ignite proliferation fireball witch (build of the week S01E05) is pretty iconic too. mostly because it is a snapshot in time, it's what was a clever use of game mechanics build at the time, and also showcases what was considered high level play.
What, no mention of CoC builds? People made builds so powerful, they had to nerf the skill, crit, power charge generation, etc. multiple times throughout the years. I remember a time when CoC didn't have a cooldown.
So much nostalgia here. Would love to see this become a series. Definitely think screen-wide cyclone deserves to be in the sequel(s). Cats on crit would be a fun easter egg to show.
Self Curse Cold BV staring at your characters ankles the entire map occultist is a big one for me, also Rue’s self chil lightning strike Zerker was pretty sick.
Very good video. If i had to poinnt out a missing one, it would be the Mjolner/Voll's Devotion/Kingsguard Discharge. Before the BIG trigger nerf (and simultaneous Mjolner nerf), Mjolner was the most expensive unique item in the game, even above HH if it was a good roll (the cast on hit was %). Immortal and crazy damage, its peak was when ascendancies entered the game and Jugg was the way to go with this build.
There are actually a ton of builds that deserve a spot like this, would be fun to see some more. I fondly remember Akane Mines, Vaal Ice Nova in Legion, ED Contagion, HH Cyclone in Legion, Immune builds with blood of corruption in delve league. The earthshatter build that dominated the racing scene for like 3 leagues. So yeah another video would be great :)
Nice video, two builds I’m thinking of that were iconic were cyclone (legion era when its aoe was absurd) and some version of discharge before it was changed.
Nice to see some of these classics still around. Wish Jousis got an honorable mention. For some reason Ghudda always stuck out from the Beta days for me too for his exploration of how slow can a character go builds.

Wooooh barely got that honorable mention. My FS build never did quite stack up to the meta one, but it was simultaneously brain-dead and amusing to watch the game play itself as long as I held down the mouse button 😅😅

I think in the very early days - and there might even be one of the original build of the week episodes on it - there was a build that used facebreakers, had an empty mainhand, and then a quiver in the offhand. GGG hadn't considered using a quiver without a bow, and I think they ended up patching the ability out specifically because of that build. One of the earliest cases of a build directly causing not just its own nerf, but a change to the mechanics of the game.
That Nerf was way later than you think that Quiver in the Offhand without a Bow thing was patched in 2021 8 years or so after release Facebreakers were hella fun in the beginning before builds went off the rails crazy. xD
Winter Orb definitely needs a shout out. If we are talking about super op builds that only lasted a league the totem explode build would be a good one to mention, and the perma uptime vaal Lightning strike with hateforge.
I will always miss the self curse blade vortex. It was really fun to walk around exploding everything, watching your character become giant with 100k life.
Small correction for the aura/herald stacker build: They stacking purposeful harbinger and endbringer, heraldry was only used if you couldn't get enough reservation, empys build as an example had zero heraldry notables.
So many builds deserved to be here. But you've got a great selection. Flicker and RF come to mind as all time favourites for all sorts of players as well. But in the end, most "popular" builds could be mentioned one way or another. Focusing on the "weirder" builds, like wormblaster, like arakaalis fang and the likes, seems more appropriate to me as well : )
Wardloop will forever be my favourite farming build. Quite easy to get +5mil dps, which sounds low, but this damage has a 100% uptime to everything in range. 90% min/maxed damage was really bonkers. As for your list, you had Aura-Stacker, but not Herald-Stacker, which was one of the most crazy builds of all time IMO. Slightly behind Exploding Totem.
Bladefall Miner with scaling Temp Chains effect is an all timer for me. Bosses moved at like 1% speed, or sometimes just not at all. Oh! And aura stacking golems back in Heist. It was way too much tankiness and damage on not a whole lot of budget.
I remember one of the earlier leagues when I began playing consistently (around Breach league), HotshotGG was playing Kitava's Feast flicker strike in Hardcore. I think he hit like 94/95 before dying due to a concoction of reasons. One I think was running out of mana, which he was working on at the time. Still I hadn't really watched too many builds until then, and it was impressive enough to get me to grind poe like I hadn't before. It didn't help that I enjoy breaches a lot, they're convenient and usually not a hindrance to run.
Builds that come to mind: CoC discharge with cospris (Fakener discharge) Lightning BV with pre-nerf vinktars Foxtactics Arc builds EQ JUGG The immortal builds from delve (molten strike) Those are all I can think about right now
I still remember the tri bv back in the day, you have a fast stacking bv then just tap the main damage bv and your damage bv will take all the stacks it was great fun

I just remember back in the day Cyclone Nagahamus, was the funniest and also the best build or stuff like coc cyclone when it came out during legion maybe it was there before but saw this the most in legion league. Both made my PoE experience to smth special and hostaged me till today cause i still play CoC builds
Cast on stun voltaxic burst (yes I’m one of the few who’s use this, much like blade vortex) and shock nova (just to apply shock). Blood magic, 2.2k+ regeneration and 1.1/2.2k life reserved(petrified blood mandatory), no es(es is stun threshold), 16k armor and 20k .7s ward (works great). I only die when immortal call is down, ward is down, I didn’t block, I’m taking huge dots/casting my 5 skills all at once(near my ~10 casts per ability per second limit) and/or I’m just straight up taking more damage than I can take and get one shot (likely because my ward is down).
Ah, good times with aurastacker. In necro there was probably syndicate operative spectres who shotguned everything till ggg notice this and "fixed", but it's probably not worth mentioning in video. Maybe Ghazzy could make one dedicated for minions...
ZiggyD might be a meme now, but his arctic armor ascendant was cracked when he made it. Totally invincible and was responsible for arctic armor and EB being completely overhauled mechanically
Old school build many,but I pick some of my favourite maybe zombie build snapshooting,blender build,ice nova ice wall,hagemony era sweep build and lastly maybe guardian tank quad or triple curse setup teamplay
What about the Goat that is Enkis Arc mage build and guide as well as Liftingnerdbros oldschool Spark totems or UberElites Srs builds? :D (Have done all the builds in the video myself, great times, tho did the Vaal Gem spam as an Vaal Fireball elementalist, felt it was faster strand farming, since the fireballs AoE explosions on the wallside of the strand)
i would say you should have put herald stacker since that was the first aura stacker before the aura stacker you where talking about if i remember right where it was the one in delirium league
General's Cry Blade Flurry pre nerf was my fav of all time, may not be legendary but it sure was good. That and Carrion golem. Arc was the first build I ever played and then strength stacking Zombies, man to think there was a time that zombies were good lol.
@ThatsMrGat I mean, flicker is within PoE though. Unless you count similar-ish spells and whatnot. But if that's the case, then half the builds fit the bill
@@novotd443 if you're an experienced poe player there's nothing remarkable about Basic-Attack-But-It-Moves-You-Around. it's cool and something that people should try and is definitely remarkable compared to other ARPGs, but within the sole context of poe, and please wrap your head around that before replying, i can't think of an "interesting" one other than red trail shenanigans which are horribly suboptimal builds and never meta among top players unlike most else shown here.
I'm missing the OG Mjolnir build and Mathil's cheap version the Fakener. That was the first build I remmeber being amazed by and knowing I could never afford it.
Man, I still remember Breach league and that poison storm berserker build that was basically immortal unless you were one shot. That old berserker leech was so broken
My best build ever was a strength stacking KB wander in Affliction. Insta-clearing entire screens on enemies was incredible. Hoping there are some wand attack builds in PoE2.
the only big things that I dont think made the cut were stuff like abberaths autobombers, poets pen/spellslinger builds, and various CoC builds whether true linked to cast on crit CoC or stuff like mj and cospri’s malice. other than that banger list

I think I was doing ED Contagion trickster for legion instead of Cyclone funnily enough.
Not even close to TS, wich was one of the most played builds for years.
Adding a simple clip of someone doing Delve and flickering into darkness would have been so good.

Mjolnir or Cospri's CoC shield charge discharge builds are by far top 3 best and OP builds of all time in PoE history.

After I was discharged from the military and returned to Poe, there was 5 herald. So, I still can't forget 5 herald aurastacker

Played a HoA Mjölner Guardian build which slapped hard in Delve League. Played the League the most thanks to that nasty build.

Cast on stun voltaxic burst (yes I’m one of the few who’s use this, much like blade vortex) and shock nova (just to apply shock). Blood magic, 2.2k+ regeneration and 1.1/2.2k life reserved(petrified blood mandatory), no es(es is stun threshold), 16k armor and 20k .7s ward (works great). I only die when immortal call is down, ward is down, I didn’t block, I’m taking huge dots/casting my 5 skills all at once(near my ~10 casts per ability per second limit) and/or I’m just straight up taking more damage than I can take and get one shot (likely because my ward is down).

In necro there was probably syndicate operative spectres who shotguned everything till ggg notice this and "fixed", but it's probably not worth mentioning in video. Maybe Ghazzy could make one dedicated for minions...

ZiggyD might be a meme now, but his arctic armor ascendant was cracked when he made it. Totally invincible and was responsible for arctic armor and EB being completely overhauled mechanically
There was more to ele buzzsaw for me, snapshotting auras and crown of eyes worked with more spelldamage from pain attunement
Old school build many,but I pick some of my favourite maybe zombie build snapshooting,blender build,ice nova ice wall,hagemony era sweep build and lastly maybe guardian tank quad or triple curse setup teamplay
What about the Goat that is Enkis Arc mage build and guide as well as Liftingnerdbros oldschool Spark totems or UberElites Srs builds? :D (Have done all the builds in the video myself, great times, tho did the Vaal Gem spam as an Vaal Fireball elementalist, felt it was faster strand farming, since the fireballs AoE explosions on the wallside of the strand)
i would say you should have put herald stacker since that was the first aura stacker before the aura stacker you where talking about if i remember right where it was the one in delirium league

General's Cry Blade Flurry pre nerf was my fav of all time, may not be legendary but it sure was good. That and Carrion golem. Arc was the first build I ever played and then strength stacking Zombies, man to think there was a time that zombies were good lol.

@@novotd443 if you're an experienced poe player there's nothing remarkable about Basic-Attack-But-It-Moves-You-Around. it's cool and something that people should try and is definitely remarkable compared to other ARPGs, but within the sole context of poe, and please wrap your head around that before replying, i can't think of an "interesting" one other than red trail shenanigans which are horribly suboptimal builds and never meta among top players unlike most else shown here.
Cold dot occultist league starter is a honorable mention, i league started that probably 6 times back when it functioned
I'm missing the OG Mjolnir build and Mathil's cheap version the Fakener. That was the first build I remmeber being amazed by and knowing I could never afford it.
Two builds that should be in this list are blender and spork. Both builds were most likely best build you could play back then.
The Lawn Mower was definitely my favourite blade vortex build.
Man, I still remember Breach league and that poison storm berserker build that was basically immortal unless you were one shot. That old berserker leech was so broken

My best build ever was a strength stacking KB wander in Affliction. Insta-clearing entire screens on enemies was incredible. Hoping there are some wand attack builds in PoE2.
the only big things that I dont think made the cut were stuff like abberaths autobombers, poets pen/spellslinger builds, and various CoC builds whether true linked to cast on crit CoC or stuff like mj and cospri’s malice. other than that banger list

You forgot my beloved Fakener with multimodded vagan daggers (hits can't be evaded) with EE, aka coc discharge
My favorite was the broken explody totem builds from crucible that one shotted all ubers while being really tanky!
