    I feel pretty dumb, but it took me many years and working with growing plants that are sensitive to humidity, to realize how much humidity affects reptiles and it's importance to measure.

    • @GweenOfTea
      @GweenOfTea ปีที่แล้ว

      It also affects spiders! If spiders aren’t in an enclosure with their required humidity, they can end up stuck in their molt and die. Of course that’s not the only reason a spider can get stuck in a molt, though it’s probably the most common way among new spider caretakers

Can get skin infections, usually fungal and easily treated if caught early. (This can happen for many other reasons too, just one more reason to inspect your animals, get them checked, etc! :) )

    So this is a great addition and well thought out.
    However, you have to make sure the reptile your giving it to actually needs it. For example this wouldn’t work for a ball python and could be detrimental as they can get lung problems extremely easily in humid places.

    • @leafystreet

      it depends on the setup tbh. with fully bioactive setups with very small animals, like mourning geckos, I spot clean once every 3-4 months but i usually cant even find poop. With snakes, ill scoop out a fistful of substrate with the poop and fully empty every 4 weeks or so. if theya are bioactive, ill just take out sections of substate with the poop and replace and keep a close eye on smell and all that
