Good on ya, Sally and your mum. Have a sister-in-law who could have rattled that up to, and her daughter does one off fashion design too. Sewing is such an incredible skill. Steph has made so many people happy with her work (and all the others) and shares her wonderful relatives with us as well.

The dress from the fifties made me strangely emotional, because I suddenly saw my mother in it. It is so what she would have worn in those times, the pale blue and soft brown would have appealed to her. I have a pair of her brown suede high heels from the late fifties, and a little tan straw hat with raffia flowers from the same time that would be perfect with the dress. Those dresses were all about being accessorized, your aunt is so right, with a little saucer hat, gloves, pearl button earrings, etc. etc. Tonight I'll be picturing my mother, 65 years ago, in the outfit.
