    Tekken Store: 06:33

    • @louesorg
      @louesorg 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +23

I'm 40 years old, I've been a fan of Tekken since 1996, and I belive you are right in everything you're saying, but you're also wrong. Please consider TTT2 offered a whole lot of content for free and failed, while Mortal Kombat and DoA were capitalizing on DLC payed content. It is not Harada or Murray's fault that the industry has changed. As far as Namco, they're just a company ruled by old people who probably don't play games or care about any of that. They're doing what everyone else is and their only concern is being competitive in the market and growing. Basically, you're asking them to have some "ethics" or "morals", and they tried that (remember Harada once said he would resign if stuff like that ever happened?) and the only thing they achieved was looking like FOOLS. You are just acusing them of doing things RIGHT. The psychological tricks, the fact that they waited to reveal the store, and even the fact that they're offering some free content in the store to generate good will is them doing things RIGHT, just like Tekken 8 itself, which seems to me like the best Tekken game so far, and the best fighting game right now. If they were to make DLC payed content more ethically, in a way that you would approve, to the rest of the companies, to the whole world, they would just look like a backwards company who doesn't understand yet how to properly commercialize their game. Now, remember that TTT2 didn't get outfits or seasons, same for games older than that, and T7 didn't get a lot of extra outfits or more customization items (and people said they were too little). What if this time we can get all of Yoshimitsu's outfits from every Tekken and Soul Calibur game, for example? I just think parents should educate their children, watch them out more, because there are new risks and you're not supposed to leave them alone in front of a monitor, just like you're not supposed to leave them alone in the middle of the street. I hope this perspective allows you to be less angry about the current situation and you can enjoy Tekken 8 more. If you need more reasons to enjoy Tekken 8, just watch some Mortal Kombat 1 videos here on youtube and find out all the shit MK fans are swallowing, and how the people responsible are threating their fans. You'll see that Tekken 8 is handling everything, not just the game, more ethically, humble and respectful than certain other companies, and they''re leading right now, showing others how things should be done in the future. This includes, for example, listening to the fans, listening to the pro players (ignored by other companies) and delivering a base game with A LOT of content from the beginning. In the end of the day, however, this is a JOB for Harada and Murray, and a BUSINESS for Namco. I hope you can make peace with that, because it was also the case for every single Tekken game before. The only difference is that times and technology changes with time.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game, I would even pay double the amount for this game, I don't see a problem,
a new product added to the game that is not in the base game requires payment, costumes don't make themselves, developers also have families and they also have to eat, it's called work, just like you don't make these videos on TH-cam for free, that's It's called hypocrisy, I would blame it if the game was only poor in the base game, but it's not, In my opinion, this is the best fighting game of the decade, and I'm more of a street fighter player, all fighting games must find way to make money, their games have to pay for maintaining servers, sponsoring tournaments, and there is also inflation, and the investment has to be recouped before tekken 9 gets the green light,
if you're going to nitpick, nitpick games like mk1 that you could write a book about the problems there

Bamco isn't a tiny studio which doesn't get funding and the shop items aren't going to help the devs themselves in any real way since in case people don't know this devs are salaried when it comes to big studios and the percentages off of profits goes to producers and not devs.

I don't think that was anything like as bad tbh. That was an extra. The Devs'd always been against publishing frame data in game and I understand why. They've caved to the pressures of the new environment where it's expected but it was an extra several years after the game was published -its reasonable that providing something extra like that be paid for. It vwas free with T8 as it should be.
This is just greedy though. They'd make a handsome profit on legacy costumes if they were $1.50 each. $4 is horrific (even though its significantly cheaper than the competition...). 20 legacy costumes'll cost you more than the entire game. I can assure you I use far more than 20 legacy costume mods in T7.

The single-use fireworks show remarkable creativity -they actually found a way for you to literally set money on fire while online.
I'm a huge fan of legacy costumes and I'd be happy to pay so that the game can be updated season to season. But they are horribly over-priced. Slightly less awful than your competitors doesn't stop you from being awful.
I don't even consider $4 a microtransaction. That's just a transaction -you can get a meal for that!
So, instead of buying nearly all of them I'll be buying none of them.
They are apparently offering story content in the future for free. This seems unnecessarily generous. I'd be happy to pay for extra story content each season. I feel they're doing this backwards. The costumes should be cheap and charge for the story stuff. I think most people would be happy to pay $20 for an extra 30-40 minute story addition once a year.
Anyway, this reeks of the path DOA and MK took and all the ill-will those franschises have garnered (and SF is well on the way too...). Disappointed. I really hoped they'd find a better way to handle this kind of stuff.

This is actually a promising solution, but what happens when a connection is severed and both players beat each other's ghosts? Who should canonically win?

@@khabug That's kinda what I meant. The player who caused the DC is thrown out of the game (back to main menu), but should be given a chance to reconnect to that match, If he doesn't, he automatically forfeits and loses points. During this time, the player who is still connected will be fighting against a ghost, which if they beat, they win and get points.

My least concern is them selling customs. I actually don't mind it because us console players didn't have the opportunity to do anything outside what was on the game. My biggest concern is the pluggers. Something has to be done to s combat pluggers. Maybe deduct their points and rank after a certain amount of reports or something.

Huh… am I the only one that don’t care that they have a tekken shop and tekken coin? Like sure, they might planned this but it is optional. It’s not like you HAVE to buy them, and only targets those that wants it.
I mean, this is not the only game where you can buy a cosmetics / emotes and such, I’ve played my fair share of games where you just pay once and done and then there’s also games where there’s a shop where you can buy stuffs.
I don’t know why, but I’m just seeing this as Tekken and Banco just following the trend that SF6 did, but if you say it’s wrong because this is a fighting game, then does the other games that do this things also wrong? If it is wrong, then I just see that an unfair for other games that did this. But it’s from someone who doesn’t have a brain as you said, so what do I know :)

They are drama queens who act like those big bad evil companies are literally ruining their lives over optional costumes, completely forgetting the last month where everyone was gushing about how great the game was, but somehow that same game was taken away from them? It sucks that manufactured outrage is what gets the views, likes, clicks, etc.

I hate modern gaming, i didn't buy the game because the demo didn't run smoothly on my pc, i was hyped for a year waiting for the game, but this is really disgusting. The problem with the fgc is that the influencers will not come up and criticize the companies doing this because all they want is that special treatment they get from the corporations if they stay inline, influencers are the ones who should be talking about it and criticizing these practices especially the big channels.
That is why i never trust anything these influencers say, they are a bunch of boot lickers always goofing around instead of actually doing something useful for the genre, everything is sunshine and rainbows whenever they talk about a game, the criticism is kept to a minimun, that's why they get to fly to try every new game, they get to have early access to the game for months before everyone which is cheating but nobody cares, I'm 43 and i really hate what gaming has become.

I think you hit the nail on the head quite well with what you said about the generational divide. I may only be in my mid 20s, but even I remember when the focus of a game was for the enjoyment of the player. There were little to no microtransactions, little to no DLC, little to no bugs on launch, and the developers actually interacted with and listened to their communities regarding feedback or criticism. Nowadays though, its quite literally the complete opposite. Almost every corporation have become these soulless entities where the ONLY goal is to squeeze as much money out of their consumers as they can. Its just extremely sad to see. All of that being said, I have really been enjoying Tekken 8. Its because I love this franchise so much that I am so sad to see this panel and the direction they plan to take with the game. They are just like the rest of these corpos and are going to heavily focus their time and resources into getting as much money as possible out of us, instead of improving the experience for their already existing player base (that already shelled out quite a bit of money to play the game). I just wish there was something we could do to combat this type of behavior, but there are simply too many people who are more than willing to continue this horrid spending model and play right into their greedy hands. So yea, I'm right there with you Frame, and its so refreshing to see that I'm not the only person who sees and thinks about these issues.
Also as always, I love your videos and I'm so glad you put out your honest thoughts and ideas because its at least something we can do as a community.

I do find it amusing how desensitized I am with micro transactions that when they revealed the prices for the costumes, I thought "not that bad" lol.
I just say vote with your wallet. There's no need to really be upset about these microtransactions since they're only cosmetic, especially if you're on pc where you can just use mods. Now if, they somehow start doing gacha elements or actually start doing something that's pay to win, that's where everyone should draw the line.
I don't really care if Bandai Namco as a company dissolves tomorrow for whatever reason, but I also don't care about spending my energy being mad about cosmetics that are ultimately up to me to decide to buy or not. Just my two cents

I disagree, pay to look good is as big as a problem pay to win. The more things you lock behind a paywall, the more you take away from potential in game rewards. I remember when the first resident evil 4 came out they had these cool little action figures that are unlocked by playing more of the game, and it made me want to play more. Now imagine those locked away behind a paywall. Before, those action figures stood for you achieving something ingame, with paywalls, now it just means you're a whale. So no, paywalls ARE a big problem.

@@mourning_sun_ I understand what you're saying, but in that case, you're saying six months from now, when they start releasing skins that they didn't develop before hand, there's no reason to complain.
For me as a consumer, paying $70 felt reasonable for what we got in the base game, that's why I bought it. I already made that decision. Now I have to make another decision for if I want to buy these costumes. You knew exactly what you were getting. It's unreasonable to get upset about something you feel that you should've gotten.
Of course, it's very much your right to be upset about what you want, but I just don't see the reason for it when the only thing that Bamco will listen to is how much or how little money they make from this. So again, vote with your wallet

Skeevy middle-man currencies are one of my least favourite parts about microtransactions. I mean I don't like microtransactions in general outside of F2P games where you have to have *some* revenue stream I guess. But even in most of those they're usually implemented in a scummy way.
My hope is that countries eventually start outlawing in-game middle-man currencies and just requiring straight-up posted prices for direct in-game purchases. It's 100% predatory as hell.

They will just see their favourite characters get a semi-decent costume and they will throw their wallets at this. They don't care that this right there was a content cut from the base game which was already finished before launch. If we try to post your comment on twitter or reddit to get more traction it is going to get downvoted by the same idiots saying stuff like "then don't buy it lol?". People still pre-order games, buy "microtransactions", season-passes and battle passes in games that are not free-to-play and they just don't care how much they are being ripped-off. So in current climate of "gaming" it would authentically be an anomaly if we were to have a large wave of players actually not supporting this scummy tekken shop launch
