4:05 sometimes I feel like I'm taking crazy pills and am the only person ever that wants Endfield to separate itself more from the original and have more of its own identity especially when it comes to returning characters, I'm a little afraid that things will end up getting dominated by returners instead of interesting new characters native to Endfield But I'm still super excited for the game and trust in HG's cooking
Honestly, same. I'm a bit put off with Endfield having characters that are similar (or same? haven't really got into the details of Endfield tbh) with Arknights. I feel like they introduced familiar faces a tad bit too early. Would've been fire if it was like AoT where we're suddenly thrust into a new location where there is just no one familiar but slowly but surely, we were seeing more and more familiar characters. In Endfield's case, since AK is lore-heavy, incorporating this in lore would've been perfect. But oh well, I guess they needed a hook for AK players to want to try and play the game, which is understandable. But I really hope they execute it better.
I really hope they don't change the story too much to appease the casual and weak of heart crowd. Over half the reason I love Arknights is for its incredible but dark storytelling, and if they had to break a few eggshells (point out that it's the future, so OFC a lot of the OPs we know and love aren't alive anymore) to make more great tales in Endfield, then so be it.
I'm hoping HG doesn't follow Genshin's gacha and constellation system. Their implementation of it in A9 is really good, doesn't really lock stuff from F2P players. They actually made the mats farming miserable in order to make both spender and non spender happy with the game (my opinion)
I'm going to contradict on your opinion and here is my hot take. Indeed, Genshin's gacha system is horrible in overall, but it reels a good chunk of revenue. Because of that, Hoyoverse are able to ramp up the production value significantly, not only for Genshin, but also for other Hoyo projects. You can hate the game and it's gacha system, but you can't deny there is quality and value in their games. If Endfield follows the same route as I said before, I don't mind as long as the spenders' money are used to reinvest the game or other HG's other games/projects.

I think HG expect people to at least intrigued with the initial endfield story because that is exactly what happen with Arknights. Arknights plunge you in right away into the depression simulator. We didn't know the scope of how much depressing it is because the story was presented in Visual novel style. Now that we can directly interact with the world, we feel ultimately worse, so good for HG to immediately realize that kind of opening act is not a good thing for an open world rpg.
4:45 Endfield is the first ever factory builder with multiple playable operators, but in the tech test operators didn't have any unique abilities for factory building It's textbook example of missed opportunity 😢
They can't really give ops base abilities that are more than +10% damage to turrents, +10% production speed, etc. since it can be redundant as they can just add it in as a new building/defenses or make that feature as part of an upgrade tree. Next, tying those things that are more than the things that I mentioned above to ops will just create backlashes, since it's like making a mechanic of a stage unavailable unless you have that specific op.
I obviously want as many people to enjoy it as possible but I also don't want Endfield to remove features that's core to AK (more strategy, base building, kinda) just to make it more appealing to more people. I've always felt like AK was special that way. I just hope it doesn't become another gacha action game with a different coat of paint. Regardless I'm excited for the game!
I do hope we get some depressing looking areas where quests take us... but the areas where we log in every day and spend most of the time in should be pleasing to the eye.
this, maybe they can make it like after finishing certain story event they can keep that part of the area look depressing like maybe Talulah v2.0 nuking an entire city and terra forming environments, and then after reveal new resources can that be obtained there, you know, for farming while feeling depressed lol
imma parrot this shit again. i TRULY HOPE the manual aim gonna be still there or have to be there, just can be an option in setting. so casuls can enjoy 'easier' gameplay while sweathands can formulate strat as much as they can. they said it themselves in the interview, it's not about players don't wanna try a different gameplay but they developers didn't introduce them enough (in this case, in a gacha market bcs in games overall i think all of the aspect in endfield have already been done). and they're not especially said this to be an action game focus, just having part of it. intensity doesn't just determined by being fast paced or not, what's face paced combat if it's not punishing? if can save you against anything. plan your move right or get squashed by a one or two party wipe move, that's intensity in its own right. don't lose your identity just bcs you want more players coming in, by having your own identity alone will have a guaranteed player base that you won't have to contest in already very crowded market of gacha arpg
I think removing the slowdown was not the best idea. They should've reworked it to make it more similar to FF7 Remake's ATB combat system. I don't mind the way it is now. It plays a lot more like Xenoblade (2 and 3 specifically).
If it bad it bad if it good than it good. That is what reality are if we backdown than they will continues to by idle like hoyo did to Genshin not long ago.
man I hope Genshin keep being the greedy game, that's at least keep other game cheap and actually try to make a good game, although I still don't like gacha but at least a fair gacha system
My main concern is the characters, arknights is very viable for lower rarities and new players in both gameplay stages and base building because theres lots of very solid 3-4 star characters and the 1-2 star characters make for decent filler in some niches But if endfield launches with only two rarities like say genshin, or a very small amount of playable or base/factory workers, it may be an issue.
Well they did scale the game for that like 4 op team instead of 11, Base looks like has way less rooms compaired to AK. Furthermore, it's not like they can add filler ops either, since 3D costs are way higher than 2D chibi so it has to be this way or it will cost way too much.
We see 3 rarities so far in the gameplay trailer. 6* (Endministrator), 5* (Pricellia, Big Panda) and 4* (Chen, other guy). The fact that they showcased chen the most in terms of character expression bodes well for lower rarity operators.
I hope the developers or Hypergryph don't go soft with the main story, i like that dark and serious tone of the original Arknights main story, maybe it sounds a bit edgy but i think it can be pretty good if Hypergryph follows that direction and don't be afraid to kill some characters or touch some serious/dark topics.
I am genuinely glad we're getting a futuristic, maybe even post apocalyptic, game that isn't gray, beige and brown. I hate this idea the future is visually boring. The colors of the new region are beautiful. They seem to be also updated the shaders because the characters look like they belong in the environment, it's generally a bit jarring when the environment is closer to realism when the character is clearly stylized/anime. Maybe it's just Genshin brainrot, but, like, I LIKE COLOR. I can be just as soul crushingly depressed in nice jewel tones as I can in grayscale, thank you very much. As for the base, everyone doesn't need to like factory building games, just *enough* people have to enjoy it (it's me, I'm people). I do think being different from the norm can help a game grow by filling a niche that isn't represented just yet.
