Bryn Terfel ist einer der ganz wenigen Jahrhundertbassbaritone , die man nicht einmal an einer Hand zählen kann. Und auch heute ist er in einer einmaligen und einzigartigen Weise in sängerischer und künstlerischer Art im Opern- und Konzertfach in der ganzen Welt unterwegs. Einige Male durfte ich ihn live erleben und immer wieder wurden die ganz grossen Opernsänger der Vergangenheit lebendig. Ausserdem durfte ich ihn auch persölich kennenlernen. Dabei war er stets ausserordentlich sympathisch und freundlich in menschlicher Hinsicht. Alles Liebe und Gute weiterhin auf seinem Lebesnsweg wünscht ihm von ganzem Herzen Michael und Markus Zimmermann aus der Schweiz !!!!

For those who criticise this performance, you must allow for these technicalities due to the intense weather conditions. It is intensely difficult to produce such bellowing notes when the vocal cords are stiff.
Please give examples if there are some on youtube. i feel his shouty way through this is entirely appropriate for this piece It makes it sound very viceral
It works well but it's still Italian opera and should always have a lyrical flow to the music. I did hear Bryn on radio 3 the other day and he sounded absolutely beautiful so maybe he's not doing quite as much shouting as I thought!
Give this great artist a break. The weather conditions are obviously awful to sing in. The producers of this event should have thought twice about this. Singing outdoors is difficult enough without it being in the dense cold.
For people being so harsh critically, y’all don’t understand how IMPRESSIVE and DIFFICULT it is to sing in cold weather. To be able to bellow like this takes incredible technique in normal conditions!!

he is awful in singing vowels...unhearable...and he sings mozart too...from italy...je performed leporello at la scala on 7th dec 2011...he was terrible...
