I've gotten the impression that people are, comparatively speaking, more shocked by them now, than they were back then. Maybe I'm mistaken? - I just remember how mesmerised I was by videos like Sonne, and how intrigued and excited people were. Was there a shock value? - Sure, but I don't remember people being like "Ew, this is weird? I don't understand this!" and stop watching within 10s.
⠀⠀I suspect Rammstein, their music, showmanship and videos, were taken more at face value back then. Whether it was or wasn't your cup of tea, you still watched it. My mum was like: "Dislike most songs. Dislike most videos. Still solid art. Not my thing." and that was it.
Mein Herz brennt should be watched as video, especially on the first time.
@@FamousGirlfriend I did like the" Sonne" video very much. I discovered them in "The Matrix" soundtrack and loved them immediately, and they made me wanna learn German. I totally adored their first 3 albums, then I lost track of them, but I do like songs like "Rosenrot" and "Ohne dich". I remember my mum didn't like them either, but later on, she would play my old Rammstein CDs while doing house chores! :D Anyway, like any music with a certain deepness, it is not always easy to understand on superficial listening. I actually left a comment suggesting some songs and music videos earlier but disappeared..maybe it was considered spam.

Great song from the band that questions whether living a righteous life on Earth is worth it when being an angel is so cold and lonely for eternity. The wings Till wears are around 50-70 kgs so he's literally carrying a weight on his shoulders. Stunning performance, just a shame that he can't carry the wings these days after an accident in rehearsal left his back damaged.

Yeah, they always have a great show! In Belgrade, where I living, Till walked on a peoples hands from the audience, and crowd get him up. They are greatly popular in Russia, here in Serbia, and in the whole Europe, I think, which is great (after all those historical mess)...

I've been to Rammstein concert few years ago, and even single fireballs fired on stage effected in real hit of hot air, as if someone directed a powerfull, giant hairdryer directly at your body. They didn't use these wings on "my" concert, but such a constant fire would make you feel like in hell. Literally.
Just look at Till's face, how extremely exhausting it was for him...
I love their shows, their music. They are just extraordinary!

@@TheThamesmen Best way, is to say Rum-shtein (like a beer stein, not steen). They have a couple of songs where they repeat their name a lot to help. And we'll overlook the fact you spelt the name of the song wrong in the title and description 'Engel' means Angel :)

Ex. Drei, Teil, mein have the i Sound as in Mine , find, Kind etc and words like Rammlied, vier, Bier have the e Sound like in me, Tea, See etc. So Rammlied is pronounced like rammleet. In German when the letter D is at the end of a word it Sounds more like T..
I would watch "Deutschland." One of the best music videos of all time. Definitely in the long version with the Romans at the beginning and the credits!

I would prefer the version with englisch subtitles. The video shows different scenes of German history and is even for Germans cryptic in many parts. So, if you choose the version with the English subtitles, you don't really miss anything important, but understand at least, what they sing.
The piano play during the credits is very nice, but can be watched later, I think.
Anyway, I really like your reaction to this song. And to my opinion, you have the best intro, I've seen so far. Many greetings from Germany.
@@Ein_Schachdude In the short version, I think there is a lot missing that should be seen. In addition, in an English subtitled version there are terribly laid out texts underneath. This ruins the aesthetic experience.
@@zanderalex2463 There's only missing his some Romans and Germans walk through the forest at the beginning and the end credits I already mentioned. Maybe there are some bad translations in other videos, but I think this one is adequate.
I think, that they want to talk about the song after it has finished. And this is much better, when they know what the band thinks about Germany, because the video itself doesn't show it. So, the price to lose some unimportant impressions and the end credits is worth to understand the whole song. I would pay it. But this decision is not ours.

@@TheThamesmen Feuerzone - literally the Fire Zone - is the area stage front. It functions like a golden circle in the sense that there's a limited crowd capacity for (obvious) Health and Safety reasons but you're going to feel the pyro wherever in the venue you are!
Being in the Feuerzone is another experience all together. It was super handy when they headlined the Friday night at Download 2016 though; it'd been chucking it down with rain all day and I was very cold and soggy until about ten minutes into their set, and then I was all steamed dry 🤣
(there is also the fact that if you're in the Feuerzone then you are absolutely going to get hit by the stage shenanigans during both the songs "Amerika" and "Pussy", becasue fire isn't the only thing that Rammstein'll throw at you)

⠀⠀Never thought about it before, but the beat of this track reminds me a lot of the beat in Björk's song Army of Me (check her out sometime, her old stuff is very triphoppy, like the British triphop of the 90s). As for Rammstein, yes: Deutschland is great, but you should also check out *Mein herz brennt* (the official music video) - it's practically a classic now, but I remember how it blew my mind at the time of its release...

The last few videos seem to be more musical theatre then a concert. It seems the success is more about the presentation and stage presence. Also with the language barrier it is difficult to appreciate how the lyrics mesh with the music.
Not sure how I feel about this new movement where its more the presentation than the music.
It was interesting wish it came with lyrics to understand how the whole presentation meshes together.

Krautrock mit currywürst at his best! Ein fabelhaftes show muss ich sagen. Enfin I was thinking Godzilla et Gojira: Une French band named after the Japanese Godzilla. Gojira has mastered the repetitive one guitarstring snare tapping modus. The album Fortitude is the nr. one on diverse charts (oa Billboard's) and the drummer, in charge of all repetitiveness, is called out to be the best in 2021 (in the pop/rock genre of course). It's cutting edge, I think they are bit to heavy for your channel, but hey, never say never. To compensate this risky recommendation: what about some super Americana CCR swamprock, live at Woodstock? Some songs are as repetitive as can be. But it works.

The song deals with the issue of how hard it is to be, or become a good human being in a world like this. Father knows i don't want to be an angel. Can't see the Angels: meaning there are no peers to look up to. Mankind having distanced himself from morel and ethnic values. I advise to watch the video from Engel.

Rammstein is incredibly anti-fascist. The lead singer and the guitarist used to go around in their younger days and rough up neo-nazis until they would leave whichever town they were causing trouble in.
There have been multiple concerts where a few idiots have done the nazi salute, only for the lead singer to have them kicked out. There is a video on TH-cam of him going to the edge of the stage and calling a couple of skinheads "scum" for doing that and spitting on them before having security round them up and remove them from the venue.
It's one of the few things that will make the frontman genuinely angry, otherwise he's one of the shyest people you could ever meet.
