I love your videos Rhi, so authentic and down to earth. Harley and you are a wonderful partnership, you look great together!
Ahh this is the greatest compliment, on both counts! Thank you ❤️
It sounds like such a helpful and encouraging competition experience.
It really was a lovely experience.
I did quest back in 2019 and 2020. It was so much fun! And you’re right, so friendly.
Super friendly - thanks for sharing your experience
Thank you for this. Very excited to learn. As I am starting out in dressage. Only thing is I am British living in Kuwait
Thank you, really helpful to look through the jargon. I'm honestly no where near doing dressage at the moment but I would never have considered affiliated as its too complicated. You just made it sound a whole lot simpler and a whole lot more inviting. It's something I would consider looking into now. 😊
I totally get that feeling. I think Quest is such a good initiative and makes it a whole lot more inviting.
Such interesting info - even for someone across the pond. ❤❤❤
Ahh thanks so much
I can't speak to the UK but in the US I've scripted for judges a LOT and it's absolutely true. Partially because the judge has to have to have a higher level of training, partially to encourage lower level competitors.
Thanks Rhi this is really helpful. I want to try BD with my ex racer but I'm abit nervous the atmosphere will get to him and also allifiated seems scary xxx
One step at a time! Lessons> arena hires > clinics > baby comps > BD if you want to do it would be my recommendation.
I don't think I could ever learn a dressage test, I can do showjumping courses with the physical landmarks in the arena but I struggle to remember more than 3-4 movements in lessons without getting lost when setting out an exercise!
You’d be surprised! The letters help a lot and I tend to learn “shapes”. At the lower end of the tests you also find a lot of mirroring (eg if you do a 20 metre circle at E on one rein, you usually do it at B on the other) and you learn other patterns such as … free walk on a long rein tends to happen across a diagonal… and so on. It gets easier the more you do it!
