REGEN HAM RECEIVER VIEWED ON SDR "WATERFALL"

TEN-TEC T1253 regenerative shortwave radio kit monitoring 80 CW amateur radio. Signals are heard on the regen receiver and viewed on the "waterfall" display of SDRPlay RSP-1A with SDR UNO software. Received signals from fan-dipole antenna coax transmission line are split 50/50 by an MFJ-1708B-SDR switch into both the SDR receiver and the REGEN receiver (3dB signal loss to both due to splitter). We are listening to the signal audio on the TEN-TEC radio and viewing BOTH the received signal and the regen receiver's oscillator signal on the SDRplay screen. To demonstrate, we tune-in hams on several different frequencies. Listen to hams in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin on 3.552, 3.554 and 3.560 MHz. There was also a Michigan station on 3.560 but I moved the regen receiver off that frequency before he transmitted so you can only see a trace of his signal on the waterfall. Multiple signals can be viewed simultaneously, and with the regen receiver's wide bandwidth a few signals can be heard at the same time. The difference between the regen radio oscillator signal and the received signal equals the audio frequency pitch in our ears.

This was a good kit - I wish I hadn't sold mine! Only problem I found was that on some bands, it wasn't possible to reach the regeneration point (known as "reaction dead spots"), perhaps due to quirks of the antenna system in use.

Soldei esse receptor há 15 ou 20 anos. O receptor consiste em apenas alguns componentes. Fiquei muito surpreso com a boa recepção que este 1253 tem. Mas muitas coisas são críticas. Tensão da antena (tensão de entrada), sensível à temperatura!! etc. Passei muitas horas com esses fofinhos.

Are viewing audio on the SDR, or tapping the RF in the regen somehow??

@@NG9D I think the confusion comes in when you tune the regen, and the SDR shows the trace move too. You now have a three handed regen?? Must be fun...
