Hungary and paprika are two things that go well together, Hungarian cuisine has so many delicious dishes to offer and I consider myself lucky that it is not very far from Vienna to Hungary. Nice to see that you can do this experience together and that your family has a relationship to Hungary, it must be very special for you.
In Hungary, the name day is also celebrated and Risa has her name day on December 31, Willa even has several name days such as January 6, April 6 or May 21, for Tanner, however, no name day is known, possibly because he is not in of the Catholic Church occurs.

“ oh my gosh Cinderella is getting on the boat” “Cinderella! Cinderella!” If only we can all be sweet as your daughter, the world will be a better place. How great to show your grandparents around Europe and that soup looks very hearty. No wonder grandpa loves it.

My mom’s parents are also from Hungary. But they are themselves from German descent. So I don‘t know exactly how much Hungarian I am. 😊 But nevertheless my grandma also cooked very often Hungarian dishes when we visited her or stayed for vacation. And my mother also is still using some of her recipes. I especially like the „Kartoffelgulasch“ which is made out of potatoes, onions, paprika and some bigger kind of Spätzle called „Kartoffelsknödel“. They are made with flour and egg but they are neither a pasta nor a dumpling but very delicious. 🤤

If you're into classical music, there is a musical college/school somewhere in the center of Budapest, named after Franz Liszt. You can have a tour of the college (the interior is amazing, almost like a palace) for only about 10 euros which includes a short performance (It was a piano performance when I visited and lasted about 20 - 25 minutes) by a student.

Doe Willa know how lucky she has at least TWO great-grandparents still able to take trips and be with her? I only had one great-grandparent left by the time I was born and she wasn't able to travel any more! Oh, and the trip to Budapest sure was an extra treat with Risa's grandfather sharing memories of his grandmother's cuisine and her having been born in Hungary! What a beautiful city and thanks for sharing that with us! I'm also glad to see that Risa is still healthy enough to travel despite being 15 weeks in the family way! Take care!

My favvvvvvvvvourite town and place to visit. Where is the Paprika Vendeglö? I always go to a little café near the [parliament building "Tulipan bisztro" - food is yummy there too. Watching you eat all these nice dishes makes me hungry - in the middle of the night. But in fairness, I cooked Hungarian goulash myself two days ago. I think tomorrow I am gonna make Cshirkepaprikás then. Oh and that Metro Line 1 is my fave line. The stations are so nice and small and for most stations still in their original look they were opened in in 1896. They just 2.7m below ground btw and about 3km from end to end. The trip takes about 11 mins from one side to the other

@@OurStorytoTell yep but it was all pre Orban era... so my perspective on the country has changed. Hungary was in communist era the most "free" country behind the iron curtain which allowed more individual business and they had a relatively good state of living compared to Poland or the GDR not tom mention Romania or Bulgaria... we called it Gulasch-Kommunismus. So with all the history of 1956 and the events from 1989 and their regained freedom most Western Europeans are a bit confused and clueless why Poland and Hungary vote for nationalistic sort of right wing parties which only cause problems in the European Union and block many decisions regarding Russia theses days. I know politics is hot topic but with the war going on so close to us, the energy crises etc. you can not completely avoid it. Though i of course understand your grandpa's desire to go there and explore his and your roots. it shows once again.. we were all immigrants at some point..

Thanks for showing us. Never made it to Budapest. Thumbs up for your grandparents who are fit for and interested in travelling. Tey act like professionals in front of a camera. Do they run their own youtube channel ? Missed to mention in your previous video, that Germany has naming convention for kids and that some("unsusal") names for kids in the US are not allowed here. So informe yourself ahead to avoid being disappointed later on. Enjoy the hungarian cuisine, even the gulash (which is the soup in hungarian) and the so called pörkölt or paprikas.

There's one thing that bugs me. And that is: you've got SO disconnected with REAL LIFE over here - if you ever were, that is.
No word about inflation (coffee up 30% in 3 months), heating diesel fuel at 300% of last year, gas even higher now, pipelines blown up by the US, first companies bancrupt (better buy toilet paper, Hakle is one of them).
And of all that not a single word - as if you're living in a parallel universe.
Wait until next year 50% of restaurants, bars and pubs will have closed, and the remaining ones being so expensive that the average Joe don't be able to afford the prices anymore. When people struggle to buy a loaf of bread - provided they can still find a bakery.
When most farmers go out of business because of 400% hikes of fuel and electricity and other supplies prices, and the gang with Bill Gates and others who buys up farmland like crazy control our food supply.
It seems you're either not aware of any of this, or you're filtering it out intentionally, aren't you?

It would be relevant to mention, if there was inflation only in Hungary, but inflation (even higher than in Hungary) exists in all of Europe (even America), so this video is not the place to blame Orban for this !
