Okay guys, good news! I was told by PGYTECH support that the Peak Design V3 Plate (www.peakdesign.com/collections/clips/products/standard-plate-v3) is compatible with the MantisPod. And, it is! Though, the plate that comes with the MantisPod is not compatible with Peak Designs Capture Clip for instance. The plate will slide in but won't secure. In general, I think you're better off buying the MantisPod Pro and a Peak Design V3 Plate separately for max. compatibility. For the ballhead, this one worked fine for me - www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01M4LQ8P6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I'm all set now! :)
That's exactly what I ended up doing :) What keeps bothering me every now and then is the fact that there's a nob on the MantisPod which won't allow you to install other arca-swiss compatible plates because most of them are "flat" at the bottom. But still, very happy with the PD V3 and the ballhead (pinned comment) that I got. Now I can easily switch between all my gear 🎉

@@Marksimloz1000 Yes, it works actually perfectly in my case. At first it looked like the lever wasn't totally closed in but when I tried back with the original plate, the gap was pretty much the same. And the lock also works so it's safe and no wiggles of any case ;)
I would assume the statement "Area Swiss compatible" means that the plate is compatible...not necessarily the mount. However, I believe you can mount the Falcam 38 base to the PGYTech Plate. That should give you the "quick release" capability...but it'll increase the height of the overall system by about .5 to 1 inch. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

Since I found out that the Peak Design V3 plate is compatible with it, I couldn‘t be happier with the MantisPod. I‘m using their capture clip now and got the right ballheads to be able to switch seamlessly between all my tripods. Really in love with the setup. Check the pinned commend for more details. I haven‘t tested the Sony yet but apart from the Arca Swiss issue, I can‘t say anything negative about the MantisPod.
I got my tripod and i found two problems i am not sure if you got it on your tripod, First is Quick plate. Every time i use it with all the legs fold and walk i feel like my camera will fall. Quick plate wiggles in the base. Second Problems is when i set my camera on ground with this legs opens 0:39 . It cannot securely stand because the stand got no perfect flat surface under the legs to stand, So i always keep my camera low to ground.
1. Base plate is not ball head. 2. Ulanzi F38 is not Aeca Swiss compatible. It is compatible in a way that, you can mount the BASE of the F38 quick release onto an Arca Swiss system and have the F38 PLATE work ON TOP of arca swiss tripod. You did it wrongly. That's why you were wondering why they didn't fit. Yes they are 38mm, but they are different systems.
Thank you for pointing this out! I have the Falcam quick release system on all my tripods and wouldn’t wanna miss it. If the plate doesn’t work with the Mantispod, I won’t switch to mantispod.
I think Arca Swiss compatible plate means... it works with other clamps that works with Arca Swiss. which are mostly ball-heads/tripod combo that screw-to-tighten type systems. Quick release plate systems are specific to that plate BUT also compatible with Arca Swiss plate compatible tripods/ball-heads.
It’s a little weird as the peak design plates are also shorter than the pgyTech plate and they work with arca swiss mounts too. In my video you can see me using the Peak Design plates to switch cameras really quickly and it had no problems holding it 🤔
Peak Design worked for me as well! I posted what I ended up with in the pinned comment. Really took me a while to find what's working but I'm happy I can finally switch between my tripods without any issues or re-mounting plates :)

I use it with the PD V3. Works perfect, just buy a PD camera plate and replace the one that the tripod came with.

@@davidvongries that is for extra security so your camera won't slip off accidentally when you unlock the plate. If you don't like it, unscrew it off.
When you mean it's compatible we agree that the PD v3 plate is compatible with the tripod, we don't have to install the whole PD system right ?

I own the MantisPod, have not had this problem with any of my plates that's not from GPY. Using mainly Peak Design plates.

It slides around because you didn't lock it.
Even their own plate slides if you don't lock it.
Why don't just get pgytech quick release plates?

yes. i had the similar experience. its just cheap parts and branded with good marketing.
