Banda Aceh's BEST Noodles (Mie Aceh)

- Today I'm trying some of Banda Aceh's best noodles, called Mie Aceh at Mie and Nasi Goreng Bardi.
Mie Aceh is served with thick yellow noodles and served with slices of beef, goat meat, lamb, mutton, and seafood, such as shrimp or crab. They are served in rich, hot, and spicy curry-like soup. The bumbu spice mixture consists of black pepper, red chili pepper, shallot, garlic, cardamom, caraway, cumin, and star anise.

To many on list nick, but sabang is popular place, takengon is nice place to, that like 8 hours from banda aceh, u can go with bus. At banda aceh u can go to museum, they have some history there, or u can go to blang bintang, 45 minute riding from.banda aceh, go in the afternoon like 16.00 clock, nice place to see mountain and sea. Or u can see sunset at the pantai cermin(lampuuk) that beauty full place, to many bule to in there, sory for bad english, enjoy at the aceh nick, stay safe.
Go to batoh bus station brother.. U will find premium bus of Indonesia.. All kind off bus
Hey Nick, welcome to Banda Aceh, one of the most safe and calm place in Indonesia. Beside Mie Aceh, for other culinary you can also try another authentic and famous food in Banda Aceh :
1. Kuah Belangong (this dish is a meat with thin soup but a little bit spicy, the meat can be beef or goat, you can ask first what kind of meat; eat with rice). You can find it in a traditional restaurant at afternoon day. Suitable for lunch.
2. Ayam Tangkap (chicken fried with curry leaves and special spices). This menu usually also exist at aceh traditional restaurant, same restaurant with Kuah Belangong.
3. Sate Matang (you know sate, meat grilled by sweet sauce, the meat can be beef or goat, you can ask first; eat with rice, thin soup and peanut sauce). Sate Matang often sell at night in the street foodcourt or you can google it. But there is also a traditional restaurant with Sate Matang menu speciality. Suitable for dinner.
I'm in Banda Aceh, you can ask me anytime about anything you dont understand in Aceh. Enjoy your trip in Aceh Province, you can also visit Sabang Island (for beach tour, only 1-2 hour from Banda Aceh by ferry ship) and Takengon (for highland area tour, about 6-7 hour from Banda Aceh by bus/minibus). That two place are also famous place in Aceh Province.

Your stay in Texas was short. Glad to see you made it to one of my favorite places in Indonesia. I've eaten Mie Aceh at the same restaurant you ate at. It's very good. Two things: 1) You mentioned you met someone special in Indonesia. I married an Indonesian woman 25-years ago. We will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this year, and now live in California. If that is in your future, I would be happy to discuss my experience with you privately. 2) I have a house in small town on the road from Banda Aceh to Medan. If you take the bus, it will stop in this town. If you are interested, I might be able to connect you with some people who can introduce you to a part of North Sumatra seldom visited by Westerners. A low-lying area of mangroves, shrimp ponds, fishponds, and palm oil that borders Karang Gading which is one of the largest contiguous mangrove forests in Indonesia. Hi Nick, it is said that Aceh has a kind of small chili that will make the red long ones take notice. It is called cabe rawit ( pronounced cha-be ra-wit ). It is tiny but mighty in heat. Usually people take a tiny bite while eating freshly fried tofu and tempe ( as snacks ). Since you are there for adventure I thought you might like to know.
It is also said that the beach in Aceh used to have lots of seashells to collect. As for the inside of the mosque, perhaps you can look up the souvenir shop in case there are postcards of the interior of said mosque to complete your introduction of it.

Note: Watermelon is very helpful in promoting the reduction of potential heat stroke. Also, the fibre of lots of green vegetables are helpful so the heat does not collect in the intestine. Heat of the sun ( particularly between 10 to 2 ) is known to cause severe abdominal pain beside headache and dizziness. You can always order a good size plate of cooked greens to go with your meals. Noodles of white flour tend to clog the intestines so in hot weather it is helpful to have large portion of cooked greens.
In addition, perhaps local stores have cooling hats like arctic air on Amazon. This way you will be comfortable while exploring.

Dude I just visit Aceh & ate in Bardi yesterday. You should try the noodle with “RACING” which means they’ll add (many people) said weed 😅 the next day I have tried Mie Aceh from diffrent resto with no “racing” of course & the taste it’s sooo diffrent from Bardi. Btw you can also order the Fried Noodle one if you don’t like the liquid ones.
Ya goreng is much nicer than tumis.

I live in banda acen now even i grow up in Jakarta but my parents hometown is here, so i just wanna give u some recommendations of places u should go, like u can visit our National University, Universitas Syiah Kualla, this is where i study now, we have a so many kinds of major, its not that really big, but i see you visit the Junior high school here, so if ur curious about college life in here, u can go there. 6:30 the seller said "racing", "racing" mean they gave little bit extra spice (ganja or in english weed) but not like the one who can make u high. The part of the weed they use is the seed, u can find in many traditional aceh food. And this extra spice make the food more delightful
