Under the masterful baton of James Conlon, LA Opera presents the U.S. Production Premiere of a highly inventive staging that originated at the Komische Oper Berlin, created by director Barrie Kosky in combination with the British theater group "1927," whose humorous shows have thrilled audiences all over the world with their interaction between film animation and live-performing actors: "A perfect mixture of all the things worth loving: silent films, the cabaret of the Weimar Republic, David Lynch, and the brothers Grimm (The Guardian, UK)." Packed with exquisite singing and stage wizardry, Mozart's delightful blend of high comedy and serious drama enchants young and old alike.

I went last night on 12/11/13. It was amazing. All performer were great. Major League of Opera. Erika as the Queen was the best thing my ears have ever heard!
Yesterday we watched this production at the "Teatro Regio", in Turin (Italy). Complete delight! Great production! Bravissimo!
This opera was the first Disney musical.
As a musician I can appreciate the new take on the opera... but after playing in so many pits over the years I really prefer the traditional performance.
Diese Videowände mögen ja verlockend sein, aber das zieht die Konzentration auf das oberflächliche und diese Vielfalt und diesen Kosmos der Musik, ab. Das krasseste dran ist die Idioten dieser Inszenierung haben so dermassen die Hälfte der Musik rausgeschnitten! JA weil heutzutage kann aber nicht jeder so ne kleine Oper aussitzen ;/// da frage ich mich was gibts da noch zu reduzieren__??? verkomme Gesellschaft
Yes I agree. I saw this twice. First time was fun, but second time made me feel like I was watching a movie for $100, just didn’t feel it was live.

I don't get why they painted Brownlee's face white...? James Conlon! He came to work with some singers in the Florence Voice Seminar, the summer of 2012, through Westminster Choir College. That was an incredible experience!!

ich finde es furchtbar!! Weil kaum jemand heute in die Oper geht, muss man dann doch auf alle möglichen Mittel zugreifen um zumindest die Hälfte des Saals vollzumachen! Umglaublich was da an der Komische Opera Berlin abgeht!! Da gehe ich nicht mehr hin! Ich will die Musik hören und nicht eure hochmodernen Effekte die mich davon voll ablenken ! Diese Scheinwerfer was weiß ich noch haben mir so in den Augen wehgetan! Ich will eine ganz normale Inszenierung. ich war so enttäuscht als ich alles gesehen habe, wollte ich sofort aufspringen und rausrennen.... ich wollt voller Begeisterung und Erwartung hin auf was schönes und wertschätzendes ! Was hab ich davon??? die haben die Musik entstellt!Schämt euch. Überall machen die heutigen perversen Reggies eine Show aus jeder Oper und das fehlt hier noch. Das tut echt furchtbar!! Wow du bist wirklich ein Fanatiker.
ich bin Musiker das ist nichts für mich, sondern für die junge Video-Game-Generation und diese verkomme Gesellschaft eher Jugend , die sich auf nichts länger als eine halbe Minute konzentrieren kann, wo nicht ordentlich Action dahintersteckt. Mozarts Musik braucht so einen Schnick-Schnack nicht!
Du hast wohl das Grundunterhaltungsprinzip der Oper nicht verstanden...
