      It's just too bad that they finally dropped the Cat-derived yellow for the Lexion combines in the US market now. They really stood out in the Challenger-esque yellow.

    We run a kinze 3800 planter with a challenger mt 855c. We plant double crop soybeans after winter wheat as well. The challenger mt tractors are nice machines with great maneuverability and plenty of power. We run 2 case quadtrac tractors as well a 580 for tillage and a 500 rowtrac for our other planter and grain cart. I prefer the challenger as it was my first tractor that I bought used to start farming after high school. We plant 800 to 1500 acres of double crops annually.

      @cliffh8486 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      bigtractorpower I guess it’s a topic of discussion as anything is. However I worked for a custom harvester and with a Draper header the idea is to get the crop to feed horizontal and head first. Leads to better threshing. Not too much though you will get header loss. It’s always a balance. It seem when the reel is too slow the crop more or less just collects on the cutter bar and gets force fed at an angle.

    What's the reason CLAAS have these to big 760 combines in a yellow livery instead of their more traditional livery, I was thinking Caterpillar are now in with CLAAS. Kevin Fox Essex, London.

    Thanks for another video. Question, does he do the headlands first or last? Does GPS know where to stop seeding or does the opetator have to stop by lifting the planter?

    • @michaelaudy6415
      @michaelaudy6415 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wondered about headland planting as well only because of the way the twin tracks steer. In the video the operator points out how the mapping system shuts off rows so they don’t get overlap .

    Apparently Versatile has or is coming out with a 620hp tractor in both delta track and standard format. I was wondering how long they would wait to match the top output of the other manufacturers. Looks like Challenger is happy to stay at 600hp for their highest horsepower offering. I'm sorry I know it doesn't have much to do with this video just thought it was interesting.

    Are those really class 9 combines, i thought Claas used model number plus 2 to sign there combines?

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The new system of identification started with model year 2020 Lexion. A year 2020 is the model number plus 2. The seed green 8700 replaced the 760 industrial yellow for this year. The 760 was built 2010 to 2019.

      The previous generation Lexions were. The new 7000 and 8000 series Lexions that were released last year are green, white, and red now.

    • @RyTrapp0
      @RyTrapp0 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the Lexion combines are anyway. This came from the relationship that Claas had with Caterpillar/Challenger some years back(note that this generation of Lexion is Caterpillar powered, as mentioned in the video). Claas even got their own rebrand of the Challenger two-track for a few years as well, in Claas-green white & red and all(known as "Claas Challenger" tractors, with 'Challenger' essentially used as a model name under the 'Claas' brand).
      Part of this relationship between the two companies was that Caterpillar got their own version of Lexion combines, and they even kept the same 'Lexion' model designation in spite of being sold as Caterpillars/Challengers instead of Claas. Since they were being sold under the Caterpillar or Challenger brand name, they obviously came in the Cat/Challenger company yellow paint.
      This relationship dissolved - don't quote me on this - I believe as soon as AGCO acquired the Challenger brand from Caterpillar, as AGCO quickly paired the Challenger brand with the premium Fendt brand(as such, there have been Fendt branded two-track Challenger tractors as well!), and today we see this relationship with the 900 & 1000-series wheeled tractors, which are sold as both Fendts and Challengers(otherwise basically the same).
      Anyway, all of this is to explain that, due to this well known relationship between 'big yellow' Caterpillar/Challenger and Claas here in North America, with the Lexion combines being the most well known product of this relationship, Claas decided to continue offering the Lexion combines in Cat/Challenger-esque yellow specifically for the North American market because the model had become synonymous with that yellow paint(there was a HUGE marketing push when they were introduced, so there was a LOT of exposure for big yellow Lexions in the mid-2000s) and a lot of US customers made the association. Not to mention, in spite of the business relationship between Challenger & Claas dissolving, that relationship got a lot of farmers into both Challenger tractors and Lexion combines, so many farmers continued buying both of these over the years in spite of the dealer network no longer having this brand overlap, so this was a strong argument for continuing the color for the North American market.
      Anyway, hope that wasn't too confusing. The history of the Challenger brand and the various business partnerships that they've been in and out over their relatively short history(less than half a century I believe? One of the younger major brands in the grand scheme) is quite complicated in its own right, so it can make simple questions like "why are Lexions yellow in NA?" require somewhat complicated explanations, lol.
      Unfortunately, Claas has officially dropped the yellow as of their current generation of Lexion combines though, so no more special color for the NA market, just standard Claas colors now. To bad too, a LOT of us Challenger fans really appreciated them keeping the yellow paint on the Lexions even after the end of the business partnership, that was a really cool move of them. Can't blame them though.
