2 minutes in and I'm gleefully laughing in absolute agreement!!!! omigods, girlie! 6 minutes in...LOVING THIS EVEN MORE!!!! (continuing)...You could be ME! Seriously. Grinning like a happy fool over here! Ohhhhhhhhhhh.... that whole "negative thoughts" nonsense is just so much blaming the victim. Good for you on calling it out! AND another personal pet peeve is the whole "let go, let god" crap. It's right up there with manifestation. WAYYYYY back in the day, I was a Wiccan High Priestess. Well, technically I still am...and an Atheist, just to be perfectly clear. I also did Tarot readings professionally (I was exceptionally good at it). I taught all the various practices that go along with all that. But, I quickly noticed a problem. Everyone wanted to sit back and let me do all the work. They wanted things to, dare I say it, manifest without any real world effort on their part. People used my talents as a crutch. They avoided their own responsibilities in favour of "magick". I tried to tell them that all the stuff I did/do was in order to set the stage for ME to do the actual WORK in my real life. Sort of like self-programming. They never caught on. "give me a spell to make a specific person love me, or get me a specific job, or apartment, or, or, or. I kept trying to tell them that it doesn't work like that. Again, they refused to learn. So........ I stopped. I sometimes use what I learned for myself. I'll mention things to people, but that's about it. Watching you just now was WONDERFUL. YOU caught on to the B.S. that others try so hard to perpetrate. Hell, I used to tell people to never go to a Tarot reader who would say nonsense like "I see a cloud of doom and gloom coming...and for $400 I can make it go away." CHARLATANS! The solution to a problematic reading is always there in the original reading. Anyway, sorry for the tirade, but you really sparked something in me with your wonderful rant. Girlie...this was GREAT!
Merri thank you SO much for all of this!! I was in a rambling critique mode so i appreciate that it struck a chord and love the tirade - your perspective is so valuable!! you truly need to start telling these stories on YT because I can tell you've lived a lot of lives we could all learn from 😊 i'm glad that your experience supports my observations from the outside - like you hint at, i think a lot of people who seek this type of content or ~magic~ out want to sit back and not take responsibility for the work that's required next. and like you said, charlatans feed into it and benefit from it 😒it's unfortunate! i've got some more societal critique content coming soon and very excited to hear your thoughts!!
I think people are taking plenty of action, especially online. All I see is people trying very hard, sometimes to the point of forcing things to work. So, I don’t think taking action is the problem. I also don’t think that if someone sees an opportunity or wants to do something, they will choose not to just because they’re waiting for their manifestation. I understand that manifestation became popular because it gives people hope that they can change their circumstances and puts them back in control, and I personally don’t see that as a bad thing. Sometimes the problem arises when manifestation coaches impose limiting beliefs on others. But we are deciding who we choose to listen to and who we don’t. There was a time when i also believes in things that didn't serve me because of what i heard online. But then i found other people who made me realize that this is not true. So, we just need to do our own research. Anyway, those are just my thoughts☺
these are exactly the types of thoughts i love hearing - thank you SO much for sharing your perspective!! a dialogue is so important and i'm so open to learning 🌸i hope your analysis of people is more right than mine, and you clearly fall into the camp of taking intentional actions by starting your channel!! i hope you can educate folks to do their own research and find the right communities away from teachers that impose those limiting beliefs. i think i've just unfortunately known personally/observed a fair amount of people who don't have that ability to think critically about what they are consuming and get caught up in whatever is being surfaced to them, so that's when i become more concerned. i find the personal choice/responsibility narrative doesn't really leave room for those who are really suffering or just disillusioned hoping for an easy solution to large issues
thank YOU!! i'm glad you enjoyed the points, i have a lot of these perspectives i'm excited to share on here soon!! gotta break through our limiting beliefs 💮(since you're a creator too I know you get it :)
@ I definitely get it. I stay positive and I believe good things will happen and I also pray a lot. But I’m also of the belief that nothing happens without hard work. Faith without good work is dead. You have to put in the good work to succeed.
I truly appreciate this perspective. It’s refreshing to see someone critically question the mainstream narrative around manifestation. While it’s inspiring to believe in the power of positive thinking, it’s also important to recognize the complexity of real-world challenges and the role of action, circumstances, and privilege. Thank you for bringing a balanced take to this popular concept!
thank you christian, i'm glad my little ramble landed!!! i totallyyy should have added in some thoughts on the role of privilege and circumstances here as well, you're so right on those points! thanks for adding that color🏵it's always suspicious to me when people from clear places of privilege or who have been working very hard in the background glaze over those facts and instead claim it was all manifestation if you like the critiquing mainstream narratives rants i've got some other ones cooking for you 😎looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
@@kate.cassidy Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply - it's so refreshing to see creators like you making space for nuanced discussions. 🧡 You're absolutely right: it's unsettling when the hard work and privilege behind success get glossed over and everything gets attributed to 'manifestation.' I often wonder if these narratives serve as a kind of defense mechanism - a way to avoid facing the uncomfortable reality of inequality by framing success as something universally accessible. Maybe the real 'magic' isn’t in manifestation but in how we use our opportunities and privileges to create something meaningful for others? Looking forward to hearing your upcoming rants - perspectives like yours always make me rethink things! 🌱

I will say, a lot of the folks I've heard talking about having manifested stuff are entrepreneurial types, taking intentional action anyway. And there's a bit of me that likes Roxie Nafousi's "Manifest" because it turns "manifesting" into goal-focused, positive-thinking-based processes. I am suspicious of the "quantum woo" that gets thrown around within the community, though.
absolutelyyy i see this as well!! i love my entrepreneurial content on occasion😅I think my concern stems from when people chalk it all up to manifestation and subtly hide the fact they were grinding and doing all this other work in the background! if you're taking the positive thinking/vibes and turning it into tangible goals & processes, that's probably harmless 😊i just don't know if everyone consuming that type of content realizes the additional effort it takes... and agreed with Merri - love the "quantum woo" terminology!!🌼thanks so much for your perspective this is why i love fleshing out these thoughts with good feedback!!!

What i know and i'm sure about it, is the univers don't care about us.
if some one want to change his life he must take constractive steps.
it's all about the small constructive steps👣at the end of the day it's up to you!

Thank you as well for collecting your great thoughts and making an awesome video.
i just don’t like when people compare manifesting to praying. its completely different - in fact I think they are opposites.
oooo i'd love to hear more about your opinion on them being opposites!! if you're open to sharing :)
