    Amazing careers for both Nina & RBG and how wonderful was their friendship. Congratulations on your book.
    I believe I saw RBG at an oncology center if she was treating during Covid as was my husband. I didn’t put it together until after her passing as some of her illness & treatment was kept quiet. I wish I could have thanked her but surely wouldn’t have wanted to disturb her. Rest In Peace Your Honor

    As a listener of NPR I have heard Nina's voice many times. It was nice putting a face to the voice. Peering inside her friendships and family was the cherry on top.
    Around here nobody befriends you in a way that you can eat meals in each other's homes. Very superficial acquaintances is what really exists among humans in my neck of the woods.
    Thank you for the report..

    Hard to believe that I’ve listened to Nina Totenberg for nearly all her 50 years at NPR. Her voice, along with Cokie Roberts and Susan Stamburg will remain etched in my memory. Nina, and certainly RGB are heroes as trailblazers, leaders, and smart, sane voices in a sea of insanity.
    Certainly Clarence Thomas is mired deep in that stinking sea, never for a minute deserving or capable of being on the Supreme Court. RGB’s replacement on the court, Coney Barrett is perhaps less qualified and as much an extreme ideologue as Thomas. Barrett is sadly inept and incapable of filling RGB’s shoes. And like Thomas, Kavanaugh’s boorish behavior and unhinged demeanor should have disqualified him from the court.

    the husband said it would be a HIPPA violation if he told his wife any of the medical info?? Not true! This is just a info given in confidence. if at the hospital employee, at a hospital and patient info on paperwork or verbally patient would sign a release. Even a layperson given info privately by the patient just ask the patient. Just ask the friend, if they want that info to given out to anyone or just friends or family?

    I enjoy Totenberg's reporting and will miss her. Nonetheless, I firmly believe her hero worship of Ruth Bader Ginsberg, along with Ruth Marcus, Gail Collins, and countless others, made it comfortable for the justice to hang on nd not retire. They help to create the cult and idoltry of RBG. Now we are left with the woeful aftermath.

    Regarding the Clarence Thomas part. I always here about this allegation in every documentary regarding past current events but never hear the outcome. Did he really sexually assault her or did she make it all up?

    • @firstname7470
      @firstname7470 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      She was not sexually assaulted, she was sexually harrassed. No she did not make it up and it was not a criminal court session. The clip you saw was from congressional hearings. She did not bring charges because at the time, that was just how men behaved and there was nothing that could be done. Anita Hill's bravery put sexual harrassment In the US's conscience and changed how people are allowed to react with one another at work.

    Lovely story about an amazing friendship. However, What is tragic is that RGB didn’t step down from the Supreme Court when that action was desperately needed. The out of balance political body of the Supreme Court did NOT get the Appointee it needed, by the Obama administration because of RBG. And, overturning Roe vs Wade may not have happened, if RGB had acted for the Democratic PARTY, as it was needed. We have the Supreme Court Christian far- right instead.
