    I came here to watch a car review and all I got was weird edition of a Sienfeld and nothing informative about the car.

    We are looking to update from a 2009 Outlander VRX V-6 with paddles. We have never, ever used them . Look good but never used. We have done 265,000 without a hiccup and we live on dirt roads , tow a camper everywhere and use the locking 4WD quite a bit . AWD is very handy in the wet too at highway speeds . We will buy the diesel but gee, I'd love another V-6 which is still available in the US. We average 8.3lt/100ks over the past 150,000 kms . Love your work !

    We have an Outlander Petrol which therefore has the CVT so we use the paddles fairly often in ours because the simulated gears make the driver much nicer than leaving it just in drive and the gears provide better acceleration aswell

    The paddles are good for changing up early for improved economy.

    Those flappy gear things are great when towing and wanting to limit the automatic to a particular gear, instead of having it jumping around all over the place. They let you keep your eyes were they need to be and your hands where they need to be.

    They do have a center locking diff I believe, atleast the diesel.

    I have been riding around in a friends Outlander diesel lately and he is getting worried about the sump oil dilution with diesel oil, the oil spec is 5w30 and it sure feel a bit 'thin'" with a few thousand up, he lives out of Melbourne so it gets some necessary long hot running, the service interval has been "revised" from the 15,000 km down to 7,500km at $400 a pop, which is a hell of a gouge on your wallet for what is probably only an oil change and filter [well we hope they do that and not just suck out some oil and top it up as the oil is darkish straight away] also it is due for a safety computer update. He is now having second thoughts about the wisdom of buying it, the one positive is the 6 speed auto and not the CVT which may or may not turn out to be satisfactory in the long term in other models.

      @@wanderer397 Gee 5 years ago I wrote that! He is saying he will get a catch can when the warranty time is up., it still runs just fine, goes on interstate trips 4 times a year, they tried to get him to agree to extra work, may have been injector service? did not get it done, If I had a need for another vehicle i would be happy to drive one, pity they stopped selling them some time back.

    Mitsubishi have had a little bit of a bad name in the past for their cars being unreliable compared to a lot of other brands. Mitsubishi have nearly pulled out of the car business before and gone bankrupt. I have also heard the DID diesel Mitsubishi Triton clogs up the air intake with diesel soot as it coughs back or something. I wonder if this DID does the same. Also I really would not think the paddle shifters are made out of aluminium, I would think they are sliver plastic.

    • @JasonLowderTheRanga
      @JasonLowderTheRanga 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, the ones you are thinking of are the old 3.0L DiD engines in the Triton. The new 2.2 and 2.4L engines are much better and smoother., have a variable geometry turbo charger, piezo injectors for finer spray and better burn, and an offset angle crankshaft and lower compression ration, allowing an aluminium cylinder block because of reduced stress. Also it has VVT, 4 valves per cyl.
      Either way, we've got 40,000 on our car (Pajero sport, which is just a longer stroke version of the same engine). If there is a problem, we'll post here - but so far it has been trouble free.

    • @photographylover1238
      @photographylover1238 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, the 3.0L DID I heard did have a problem with dirty burning. It is interesting they have improved the new engines. Mistubishi sure does not need any more bad publicity. They have struggled so much. I do not believe though that Mitsubishi was was more reliable than Volkswagens for example. The number of people I know that have had trouble with their Volkswagen amazes me.

    • @gregrafter9329
      @gregrafter9329 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Reliability wise I personally haven't seen Mitsubishi imported cars, overall, to be any better or worse then other Japanese brands. Even Toyota has the occational issue with some owners of the Rav4 diesel 2.2 litre experiencing excessive oil consumption much like the landcruiser v8 diesel when it was released. Given the complexity of modern cars, especially in electronic systems, its not surprising there is an occational glitch. As long as the manufacturer/dealer fixes an issue straight up with no dramas most people are happy to accept it. Customer service and how the customer is treated goes a long - long way. Of the people iv'e meet with VW's, they are in the main very happy with their vehicles and the few who weren't it was because of the dealership and incredibly poor customer service in resolving issues.
      Carbon is a problem for most common rail direct injection diesel engines from most manufacturers, especially ones using an EGR valve to help control emissions like on older Hilux 3.0 and Triton 2.5/3.2 litre engines.The egr valve basically allows a percentage of exhaust gas (soot) to be recirculated back through the combustion process which over time builds up carbon deposits in the intake manifold. A lot of manufactures are now using a diesel particulate filter (dpf) instead of an EGR valve to try and achieve the same result in getting their diesels to pass euro 5 - 6 emission standards. The issue with dpf's is If you allow them to clog up they can fail and are expensive to replace. The dpf also has a limited life and which is something to consider if buying second hand down the track.

    • @photographylover1238
      @photographylover1238 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are correct that all brands have issues every now and again. Honda have had airbag problems and so to have Holden. Honda had a problem where metal parts of the airbag were going into the cabin of the car when they went off and Holden's issue was with them going off while just driving down the road normally. More recently the Ford Kuga and I think some other Ford models have been recalled for catching on fire. The Mitsubishis I have seen giving trouble have been older ones that were reasonably new at the time but they may have improved a bit since then.
      As far as VW goes. It is just that i have seen so many giving trouble. Not starting is one of the major things I have seen with VW. In my country any German car and most European cars are also extremely expensive to fix and a lot of mechanics will refuse to work on a European car here.
      Yeah, I know how DPFs work and the issues with them or potential issues with them. However, at the end of the day I think they are a good idea.
      What do you think of idle stop? Which they are fitting to most or many new cars.
      Also I seem to have a a lot of notifications from you but can't see it all. I can't see what you said about Korean cars.

    What a disappointing video. This is not a car review, just a lot of banter with no real content. Watch the Carwow video instead (although it's not Australian) and learn how car reviews should be.
    Those paddle shifters are not for shifting gears!
    Button stop-start means you can leave keys in your pocket....you don't need a separate key holder in the car so no need to applaud Mitsubishi for that...
    What about lack of air vents for 2nd and 3rd row seats? What about how hard it is to fold down and flatten the 2nd row seats? What about the fact that seat belt holder in the middle 2nd seat row is rigid.....video misses out on all the important things. Hope no one rushed into a decision either way about this car just based on this video.

      The paddle shifters are for shifting gears in bothered diesel and petrol outlander, the phev uses them for regen braking instead
