I don’t know what’s up with my voice but when I'm singing along with the one who is singing the song, my voice is alright. But when I do a karaoke, I sound like a dying goose.
This sometimes happens because when we’re singing along with the recording we’re also listening to the other person’s voice. It’s harder for our ears to properly pick out the two separate voices, so it tends to merge them together a bit.

I dont want to sound like a know it all in this comment lol so I will try not to. xD Here's some things that helped me (and sorry I know you posted this ages ago) 1: try doing some easy songs before singing ones like this and try to warm up your vocal chords. 2: try using your diaphragm for breathing if you aren't already since it will help you reach the top notes by the fact that you know you have enough breath. 3: Have good posture and try to be confident. 4: Try belting the song and not focusing all your energy of the next high note. I suggest using Mariah's part in 'say no to this' because that has some fairly high notes but it is a song for an alto. It'll also help you develop a better breathing technique and will challenge you to sing through your stomach and not your throat. Sokka - Haha yeah, I've realized that now. 4 weeks later I'm fine with playing Alexander, because my voice range is closest to his. And it's fun being the lower pitch of the females.

rosemarii you can expand your vocal range by doing lessons on TH-cam for 30 days if you want! If you haven’t already that is...
I dont want to sound like a know it all in this comment lol so I will try not to. xD
Here's some things that helped me (and sorry I know you posted this ages ago)
1: try doing some easy songs before singing ones like this and try to warm up your vocal chords.
2: try using your diaphragm for breathing if you aren't already since it will help you reach the top notes by the fact that you know you have enough breath.
3: Have good posture and try to be confident.
4: Try belting the song and not focusing all your energy of the next high note.
I suggest using Mariah's part in 'say no to this' because that has some fairly high notes but it is a song for an alto. It'll also help you develop a better breathing technique and will challenge you to sing through your stomach and not your throat.

P.s sorry I sounded like a massive know it all I just have spent a long time self teaching since we don't have enough money for proper lesson and my brother is incredible at singing and taught me all this XD

@@sunnysideofthings ahaha fair enough. basically breathing using your diaphragm means instead on pulling your stomach in when you breath in you push it out to let in more air. If you're really bothered search it up XD google has all the answers.
