Alright guys I verbally flubbed calling panto-graphs diaphragms....I know they are panto-graphs I just had a brain fart. Apologies! I also said diesel loco once when I meant electric. I review very few electrics.
I have the 642 model! People told me Bachmann missed on a lot of detail here, but to me it’s a very awesome model and who cares what others think. The sound feature and light features with the DCC are phenomenal!
Bachmann has certainly up'ed their game here and this would match anything from the european manufacturer's. Very nice vid James. Checked trainworld and will have to wait till it's added to there www.
I'm From the Philadelphia area but live in Maryland septa is from PHILADELPHIA its strange seeing the acs64 on there trains but they still have the AME 7s last time I checked they are held in storage living in Maryland I still get to see Marc HHP8s in service nice review bud
I got two of them today, I was so impressed with them that I immediately bought 3 more, ones that arrived today are SEPTA & Amtrak, One’s I bought today are the demonstration unit, another Amtrak, & The America’s railroad salutes our veterans.
Very impressive model, from the paint scheme detail. The sound is spot on from the MCB closing, compressor kicking in. And what that is in between the trucks is the transformer. For inquiring minds this motor is based off the Siemens Vectron. The diesel version is the Charger.
Just acquired this same loco. Very impressed. Does look a bit like the Siemens Taurus loco used in Germany & Austria. Pity the traction motors on the ACS 64 don't play the tune like their European cousins.
I got the Veterans scheme version and love it. Bachmann really did their thing with these. I wonder are they going to release the single cab versions that are starting to make their way here in the midwest
I have the Septa version - going around my tree it looks great. The engine was running fine up to a few days ago now it's all screwed up. The ditch lights are not working, the engine is not powering on when I power on the track. I think I may have screwed up the programming on the EZ-Command Any way to do a reset?
Awesome! When an SC44 model comes out, you should do a size comparison to another freight/passenger engine..in reality, those chargers are maybe 1 1/2 times bigger than your average GEVO or ACe, from what I've seen railfanning...
Awesome video! I would love one of these but I don’t model the nec and it’s a little out of my price range. I love all your videos so keep up the good work!
HOLY MOLY!!! 359.00 smackers !!! id love to get the veterans unit, my dad was a veteran, worked on the Rock Island, CNW and final years on the BN...I don't model USA railways but I may bite the bullet and get the veterans one to honor my dad....thanks your review may make my decision....
Siemens, pronounced C-Mons, is correct. I met a good looking woman from Germany at Disney World a few years back who said she worked for Siemens. My buddy made a crude comment about it and that's the end of her talking to us. I had to stop hanging around him if I wanted to meet the ladies. LOL! Nice review James. Great to see Bachmann stepping up their program. Now if we could talk them into using Kadee couplers instead of the crappy plastic Mach II couplers... Thanks! Cheers, Dan
I am new to the hobby so I don't get the purpose of the dual cab loco. I have been on the Heartland Flyer here in Oklahoma so I get the push pull concept with a loco at each end, you don't have to turn the train around. But what advantage does the dual cab have over that? Thanks and God Bless.
James the advantage is mostly for passenger service where you need just 1 loco to pull the whole train. Electric locos are very powerfull, this one got 8.600 HP. That's like 2 diesel locomotives. This locomotive got power but not so much tractive effort like heavy duty diesel locos. So for long freight trains where is also no electrification are used 2 or more locomotives where the first and last can be turned opposite so always one cab is heading to every direction. The loco at the terminal station is detached from coaches and drive around to the end and connect the coaches from the other side so no turntable is needed. This process happens by passenger trains more often (sometimes also 4-times a day) then by freight trains which travel more far distances. So it is very good to have 2 cabs. For Ex. the Florida Brightline High Speed train got 2 diesel engines each on the end of train so they are single cab variants alhought they are used for passenger service.
TCS WOW and Bachmann are 2 names that really don't go together, however this actually looks like a really nice model. Every once in awhile Bachmann puts out nice stuff. I don't understand why this level of detail wasn't placed on their SD70Ace's, but Bachmann has always been inconsistent with such things, except for their steam, ON30 and G scale stuff.
i'm surpsied Bachmann came out with the Septa version so soon! I think it was annoucned the day 901 arrived in Pennsylvania! The horn sounds a bit odd to me! the ACS64s have different-sounding K5LAs than that! The ACS64s are some really good-looking locomotives, and I'm glad Bachmann captured that correctly! I would like to see an ACS64 in Phase III!
I like the veterans unit, nice detailing, to me the locomotive is kind of ugly, not the scheme just how the locomotive looks, I miss the Amtrak FP40PH's they were a good looking locomotive.
Bachmann got the Vet tribute paint Wrong.Missing the ribbon! This Chinese company called Bachmann no longer a USA company refuses to pay the Rites to print the Ribbon from the PROPER U.S association!. You know for the price of their slave labor they could do courtesy to do it right, but they don't care they want your money. Bet if a American company did it like Athearn it would be correct. Saying Something that needed to be said about Bachmann.
these are not worth 220+. and they run like complete garbage on DC lines as many have reported. will get it half price in a few years off the bay or wait until bachmann unfucks themselves and makes a DC version. the roof is atrocious and the bogies.. dear god. look at the drop pan for the gears. ROCO and others have managed to get high bogie beam models perfect but bachmann is like nah son, lets drop that huge gear box between the rails. the 80 year old dumbasses will never notice!
Great to see Bachmann uping their game.
Alright guys I verbally flubbed calling panto-graphs diaphragms....I know they are panto-graphs I just had a brain fart. Apologies! I also said diesel loco once when I meant electric. I review very few electrics.
Bachmann did a good job
Absolutely unacceptable that you made a mistake! lol
:D
At least you caught it!
I cringed the first time. They heard me yell pantograph James! Next door the second time!
I have the 642 model! People told me Bachmann missed on a lot of detail here, but to me it’s a very awesome model and who cares what others think. The sound feature and light features with the DCC are phenomenal!
Wow an actual startup sequence! Hope Bachmann starts doing that on some diesels too. Love the look of the new dcc sound boxes as well
Bachmann has certainly up'ed their game here and this would match anything from the european manufacturer's. Very nice vid James. Checked trainworld and will have to wait till it's added to there www.

The switch on the bottom is for super modelers so they can run the engine via pantographs. Amazing.
It’s getting really realistic, eventually we will need to load diesel into them 😂
Very thorough review - Bachmann is stepping it up for sure.
I have 2 of these bad boys and love them both
Cool

Awesome locomotive model,ty James for showing us your video!
This looks and sounds like an amazing locomotive. Out of my era, but I may still get one.
Just acquired this same loco. Very impressed. Does look a bit like the Siemens Taurus loco used in Germany & Austria. Pity the traction motors on the ACS 64 don't play the tune like their European cousins.
Finally the ACS-64 has arrived!!!
I got the Veterans scheme version and love it. Bachmann really did their thing with these. I wonder are they going to release the single cab versions that are starting to make their way here in the midwest
Another great video.. really enjoyed watching this one!!

If your acs 64 has an electrical malfunction while running on the dc layout how do you use the bachmann ez command to restore it to factory settings?
I am so glad that its 8 wheel drive and doesn't have traction tires like the European stuff that is indeed European....
I'm watching while waiting on a train.
Awesome video! I would love one of these but I don’t model the nec and it’s a little out of my price range. I love all your videos so keep up the good work!
Nice work and great video!
Good model there James! It looks amazing!!!
The Veterans Unit is missing details under the Veterans logo
My guess would be the prototype has holes on the wheel sides for air cooling to reduce wheel/brake shoe temperature.
The Holes aren't actually a part of the wheel and are instead ventilated brake discs.
Great scott! This engine need 1.21 Gigawatts just to run! And plutonium!!!
Have you done Amfleet cars yet?
HOLY MOLY!!! 359.00 smackers !!! id love to get the veterans unit, my dad was a veteran, worked on the Rock Island, CNW and final years on the BN...I don't model USA railways but I may bite the bullet and get the veterans one to honor my dad....thanks your review may make my decision....
$200 ish in stores.
I'll be buying one for sure to run with my California Zephyr.
That small switch is for pantograph power or rail power
Those are awesome I may need to pick one up.
Do the Bli J3A greenbrier please

I will give this video a 10 out of 10 good work. keep up the awesome work!!!!!
I got mine and I do get the flex capacitor joke
Wow this is a great model.
See that southwest chief tho 😍😍
Awesome
Bachmann is doing better. I don’t think i’m gonna order them because I don’t model any electric locomotives.
But that’s why you are here. I salute you because you are a veteran aswell!
there called pantographs not diaphragms
yep, flubbed that one...at least I know it...just boo booed up the nomenclature

I don't even play with model trains, yet I somehow get recommended this, and enjoyed watching. gg youtube, now I might look into it.
LOL I just ordered the Amtrak 642 LOL
LOL I just got it
Bud you forgot to switch account
the sauce master I did?
I have 607
And audio assist
They're supposed to be blue headlights like the prototype. They use LED's on the real locomotives
when this baby hits 88 mph you're gonna see some serious ....
I like the veterans unit, nice detailing, to me the locomotive is kind of ugly, not the scheme just how the locomotive looks, I miss the Amtrak FP40PH's they were a good looking locomotive.
ho?
did he just say diesel locomotive??

I'm so used to diesels I had a few verbal flubs in this electric review.
A DECENT quality model from Bachmann that doesn't use a Soundtraxx decoder?

Honestly, man, you need to just go fuck yourself and stop spamming every review of a Bachmann locomotive
