Ah, the Fitzsimmons episode. This one really showed us how strong of a connection those two have, and showed that they're far more than just comic relief characters.

As I often say I think it's kinda the point! When they started the show, outside of Coulson we didn't knew any of the characters. The first 5 episodes served as an introduction to them: Who they are, what their role in the team will be, some stuff about their personalities, but not many emotional moments. This episode, as well as the future ones, allow themselves to get into more emotional storylines, now that we are a bit familiar with the team
Actually, during the climactic fight between Tony Stark Obadiah Stane (in the Iron Monger armor), over Iron Man's shoulder can be a building seen in the distance with the Roxxon logo, making the fictional company's first appearance in IRON MAN (2008).
I loved the whole Jemma thing, don't get me wrong. But the firefighter in the station set the whole episode up a notch. Such a great actor, great conversation between him and Coulson.
Yes I completely agree with you I do feel like the firefighter gets overlooked and it was a sign of how depressing the episode was going to be...I felt so bad for him and even Coulson who couldn't save him 😟
It’s impossible to not love Fitz (Though some of the guys reacting at RT TV gave it the best shot, even they came to love him). And Ward made the best impression of himself (though it reminds me a little like George W. Bush when he does it) 😉🤣👍

RT TV is one of the worst reaction channels I've watched. There's a bald dude that's always half-sleep in almost every reaction, they talk too much (like The Normies, but The Normies at least have Rana who is excited about everything and really paying attention and Navi, who is the most intelligent and always shutting Suraj and Chris or Pat talking) and don't pay attention. So, if they didn't liked Fitz it doesn't really surprise me xdd

It was this episode that the show began earning the nickname “Agents of Feels”. Imagine watching this episode when it first aired and NOT knowing for sure if Jemma was going to live. The feels only get more intense as time goes on. Trust me.
A lot of people say this about this episode, but this is the one where I knew I was completely invested in this show. Six episodes in, and I was made to feel how attached I was to these characters. Please, PLEASE do not ever apologize for expressing your love for Fitz. He is the best. :D I loved him from the very first episode but this one definitely solidified him as my favorite character. Also, Iain de Caestecker is the best actor on the show. You just got a tiny taste of his abilities in this episode (and of the emotional devastation this show can bring). This is, to this day, one of my favorite episodes of SHIELD. Oh, and that short is also a favorite of mine. I love watching Coulson being oh-so-casually badass. :)

A friend and I were once watching something, and heard someone referred to as "Special Agent So-and-so," and joked about the difference between a Special Agent and a regular-ass Agent..then watched Thor, and realized that Phil's the Regular-Ass Agent. The joking stopped, but that phrase has stuck to him with us, with highest respect.

the writing in this episode was really on point. of course, that's true with most of Agents of Shield. this was probably my favorite TV show of all time
FZZT. The spark of awareness when Fitz realises he loves Simmons. I love season one, some good old fashion storytelling so we can really understand our characters and what makes them tick.

Clearly one of the best episodes of the first half of the season and one of my favorites. Don't worry about crying, it's ok, in fact, it makes the reaction better xdd Fitz is such a lovable character and Jemma is great too. I think Iain de Caestecker (Fitz) and Elizabeth Henstridge (Simmons) are the best actors of the show (especially Iain, he's so good) and both have so much chemistry with each other and with everyone on the team! I like that scene of Ward about feeling helpless of not being able to "fight" with something to protect the team... we slowly get to see Ward's emotions. I love that you reacted to "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer", my fav Marvel's One-Shot by far, Coulson is a badass and so charming. Can't wait for the next episodes!

Loved this reaction and this episode in particular. It is one of the better early episodes and really has a lot of character building, I subbed and want to see the rest of your reactions to this show as it is one of the best shows ever, but very under rated. You said you wasn't expecting to cry, but that is the Whedonverse formula. He gives you the action, yes..but it is ALWAYS a backdrop to his most focused goal, and that's telling deep human stories and relationships. That's his legacy. All of his shows have a traceable element of the same drama type formula. Example: When I saw the argument scene in Avengers, around Loki's staff, I instantly recognized that style as Joss. And this is before I realized he wrote and directed it. Me and my friend looked at each other, like "wait a minute". Did it on Buffy and Angel. Every character has a valid point of view as they RIP into each other. No one is 100% in the right...but they hash it out in such a way, that you're like damn! I don't know who's side to take in the arguments. Your tears are like the meat and potatoes to viewers. Like reactors of GOT, it feeds us. Lol. Thanks for the great reaction. 🥰 One last thing. I never thought Ron deserved Hermione. I never read their book dynamic, but I know that Daniel and Emma's chemistry was more on par. Ron was a slouch of an idiot who was mediocre. But worst of all, I hate the whole cliche of "boy is mean and picks on girl. The girl ends up crushing on her mental abuser, and then he down plays her emotions and her skills, so later on she falls in love with him." Harry always looked out for her, checked in with her and her feelings, was supportive and was unashamed to tell her she was brilliant from the start. Yes. He was fun to make fun of....but he never deserved Hermione. Imho.

Season 1 is my favourite season. I wanna throw hands when people diss season 1 then point at a certain season just because of a certain character that shows up LOL. You know which one I mean, but don't say it.
Captain America is bound to get mentioned more because he was around during World War II and then returned for the battle of New York. Kind of a big deal, and a legend within S.H.I.E.L.D. and obviously to Coulson. But they've referenced most of the other Avengers as well. Most notably Agent Romanoff because she's one of "theirs". I think the only one they haven't mentioned, as far as I recall, is Hawkeye. You get mind controlled by a Norse god of mischief *once* and all of a sudden you're chopped liver. The music in the short is a pretty obvious sound-alike of "sing sing sing (with a swing)".
Haha I was really only joking. Like I said I love Captain America!!!!!, but it was just funny because literally the last couple episodes had mentioned him
As someone who has watched this episode over 100 times. This is my favorite of season 1. But you've still got quite a ride in front of you. Also, if you have any questions regarding the other Marvel TV shows that are connected to the MCU, I can answer them and give you my recommended watching order, which it seems is different from most people's due to them being willing to split up seasons more than I do. One of the things not really mentioned here is that Coulson has Furys backing. It gives him a tonne of latitude that he wouldn't have otherwise.

the writing in this episode was really on point. of course, that's true with most of Agents of Shield. this was probably my favorite TV show of all time
FZZT. The spark of awareness when Fitz realises he loves Simmons. I love season one, some good old fashion storytelling so we can really understand our characters and what makes them tick.

Clearly one of the best episodes of the first half of the season and one of my favorites. Don't worry about crying, it's ok, in fact, it makes the reaction better xdd Fitz is such a lovable character and Jemma is great too. I think Iain de Caestecker (Fitz) and Elizabeth Henstridge (Simmons) are the best actors of the show (especially Iain, he's so good) and both have so much chemistry with each other and with everyone on the team! I like that scene of Ward about feeling helpless of not being able to "fight" with something to protect the team... we slowly get to see Ward's emotions. I love that you reacted to "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer", my fav Marvel's One-Shot by far, Coulson is a badass and so charming. Can't wait for the next episodes!

It is one of the better early episodes and really has a lot of character building, I subbed and want to see the rest of your reactions to this show as it is one of the best shows ever, but very under rated. You said you wasn't expecting to cry, but that is the Whedonverse formula. He gives you the action, yes..but it is ALWAYS a backdrop to his most focused goal, and that's telling deep human stories and relationships. That's his legacy. All of his shows have a traceable element of the same drama type formula.
Example: When I saw the argument scene in Avengers, around Loki's staff, I instantly recognized that style as Joss. And this is before I realized he wrote and directed it. Me and my friend looked at each other, like "wait a minute". Did it on Buffy and Angel. Every character has a valid point of view as they RIP into each other. No one is 100% in the right...but they hash it out in such a way, that you're like damn! I don't know who's side to take in the arguments.
Your tears are like the meat and potatoes to viewers. Like reactors of GOT, it feeds us. Lol.

One last thing. I never thought Ron deserved Hermione. I never read their book dynamic, but I know that Daniel and Emma's chemistry was more on par. Ron was a slouch of an idiot who was mediocre. But worst of all, I hate the whole cliche of "boy is mean and picks on girl. The girl ends up crushing on her mental abuser, and then he down plays her emotions and her skills, so later on she falls in love with him."
Harry always looked out for her,
checked in with her and her feelings, was supportive and was unashamed to tell her she was brilliant from the start. Yes. He was fun to make fun of....but he never deserved Hermione. Imho.
This show can really bring the emotions out at times.

Season 1 is my favourite season. I wanna throw hands when people diss season 1 then point at a certain season just because of a certain character that shows up LOL. You know which one I mean, but don't say it.
So far 2 and 4 are my favorite 1 closely followed but without season 1 and how it is the others wouldn't have been so great.
Captain America is bound to get mentioned more because he was around during World War II and then returned for the battle of New York. Kind of a big deal, and a legend within S.H.I.E.L.D. and obviously to Coulson. But they've referenced most of the other Avengers as well. Most notably Agent Romanoff because she's one of "theirs". I think the only one they haven't mentioned, as far as I recall, is Hawkeye. You get mind controlled by a Norse god of mischief *once* and all of a sudden you're chopped liver.
The music in the short is a pretty obvious sound-alike of "sing sing sing (with a swing)".
Haha I was really only joking. Like I said I love Captain America!!!!!, but it was just funny because literally the last couple episodes had mentioned him
As someone who has watched this episode over 100 times. This is my favorite of season 1. But you've still got quite a ride in front of you.
Also, if you have any questions regarding the other Marvel TV shows that are connected to the MCU, I can answer them and give you my recommended watching order, which it seems is different from most people's due to them being willing to split up seasons more than I do.
