Do you think this is a Good idea or HORRIBLE IDEA? And the timing seems really bad to me, what do you think?
Why don't they just lower the seller fees instead of getting rid of them and then passing the costs onto the buyer? I don't mind paying to sell on eBay, but please don't gauge my eyes out to do so. This is only going to scare buyers away, just like on Mercari.
Horrible idea & horrible timing! 4th quarter is going to suck...😖
you would think they would have learned from Mercari's mistake, charging more to the buyer.
also, i'm waiting to accept posh orders tonight until tomorrow, the 3rd, to see if this new fee schedule will apply to tonight's offers.
@rockstarflipper I am not trying to rude. A lot of people missed this because of how Poshmark presents it, but the examples you gave at th begining are not accurate because its the TOTAL ORDER. This is actually incorrectly informing a lot of people. A lot of people are going to see this. Go back to Poshmark fee page look at what it directly UNDER THE CHART.
The 5.99 fee is based on the TOTAL ORDER. POSHMARK IS GOING TO MAKE MORE than they did before.
I left a detailed comment with a breakdown. Please look at that. You will see what I mean.
It kills sales ! Mercari did this and sales died
Thats what I saw
Right not good
my sales where down 90%
Yup I don't even bother selling on mercari anymore. Sucks bad Poshmark is gonna go right down this path. Although - Depop remained about the same as far as I could tell after they got rid of their selling fee.
there doing it for the live shows, cheaper starts
As a sometime buyer on Poshmark it’s ridiculous. It’s bad enough buyers have to pay $8 shipping no matter how light the item
Agreed
Also, we are limited in that we can't ship perfume because it contains alcohol using the limiting Priority Mail option. I'd appreciate some reasonable avenue/flat rate alternative via Ground for a lower price. I swear that they mentioned this at one point and it never happened? Fragrances, especially over the Holiday season and Valentine's Day would be a hearty sales item.
In my opinion this isn't a good idea but tbh Posh started going downhill when they started the live shows with $3 and $5 shows. This hurt alot of sellers sales that want to make more than $1 on a sale. I've seen so many sellers I have been following for years close down their closets because of this and were next. They should have never started the live shows I miss the old Poshmark when sales were awesome.
totally agree! my sales dropped 95% due to people wanting everything for $5!
I totally agree with that. I think Poshmark is trying to compete with Whatnot with the live shows. They should be following Ebay's lead, since Ebay has been around since 1995. That's just my opinion though.
I agree with you 100% ! They need to quit with the all changes and stick to helping sellers and attracting buyers ! They should’ve just went to 10 percent flat . When I saw 5.99 I couldn’t believe it and then saw they are charging the buyer too …. Damm Poshmark , you are pushing me to eBay even more after almost a decade
Timing is terrible. Mercari sales have died since they started charging the buyer all of the fees, so this makes me extremely skeptical.
One thing you have to understand about the kind of people who ruin, I mean run these ecommerce companies is they have those jobs because of everything except qualifications and skills. With that being said, they're liable to remove that tomorrow and go back to 20% fees because someone felt like he/she/it wanted to be the star of the office that day.
And these creatures also despise capitalism and free enterprise, so they draw in people, get them hooked on selling and then start slowly ruining everything that wasn't ever broken.
Pretty soon there will be an immigration fee. Maybe one for Ukraine…. 🤷♀️
Posh is so full of b.s. Buyers will just expect a bigger discount from the seller to offset the new buyer fees. Posh is giving up NOTHING.
RIGHT! & Posh claims sellers will get larger profits cause of this 🙄 Do they really believe charging extra to a buyer will increase our profits/sales? They really think they're doing us a big favor lmao also, I just clicked on a $15 item with the fees shipping it came out to $29.11!!
Can you imagine buying something. Being charged for the privilege of buying from that platform and then you can’t return an item when it doesn’t fit. I would never buy from Poshmark
Casey they will be charging the fee on the item price(bundle Price), sales tax and shipping so your numbers are a little off. They are also reducing shipping rates for ambassador sellers at no charge from oct 3 to dec 31 (posh is paying the discounted rate) from 7.97 to 5.95. so a 15 item plus sales tax and discounted shipping the fee would be: 2.37 each from the seller and buyer for a total of 4.74 vs old fee of 2.95. for a 49.99 items with sales tax and discounted shipping fee would be: 5.65 each for a total of 11.30 vs old rate 10.00. for a sale of 100 plus sales tax and discounted shipping fee would be: 9.95 from seller and buyer total of 19.90 vs old fee of 20.00. The discounted shipping is for ambassador only at this time so any seller that is not an ambassador would still have 7.97 as the shipping to pay fees on. They did not say what happens after dec 31st for the shipping discount. buyers will just send even lower lowball offers to justify the fees.
On a $15 sale, wouldn't you pay $3.37 each? It puts you into the $2 category + 5.99%.
I didn’t see where it was mentioned that tax and shipping would be included ? Their chart doesn’t show that?
@@brendamartinez5724 It's right under the chart.
@@brendamartinez5724it would be included in the total sale (shipping , tax and offer price)
@@brendamartinez5724it’s in the writing that the 5.99% fee is based off of the total amount including shipping and taxes.
This is a terrible idea. When would Poshmark want to hit the buyers pockets even more? That's ridiculous. Buyers shop second because of low price, what a slap in the face.
So it's OK just to keep gouging the sellers and let us do all the work and find the items and put them up for sale.
It's OK for us to pack them up and ship them to you but we should pay all of the fees and not make any profit?
@RowdyRomantic Did I say that was okay to do on the sellers part? No!
@@RowdyRomantic If you're not making any profit thats your fault 🤣🤷♀️ Re-selling takes a lot of work BUT if you work from home that 20% is a lot cheaper vs owning a brick & motar. 20% is still high but its your choice if you want to sell on posh 🤷♀️
@@RowdyRomantic Try selling all your items to a crowd of zero people because they all left because of the fees. I knew how to work around that 20%. I don''t know how to work around a lack of shoppers.
@@theultra79 Exactly! I've been trying to see the upside to my business with this change, but all I can see is buyers leaving in droves. Why would you pay a buyer's fee on Poshmark, when you can go to Amazon or eBay and pay none?
I think buyers are going to make offers even lower than they normally would to make up for the fees that they now have to pay.
I think the buyers are going to shop elsewhere.
Do you think you're getting low balls now.... Just wait
Yep I'll probably stop buying on Poshmark like I did Mercari when they decided to start charging buyers fees? smh
You are so correct on that! Ever since they started charging the buyers on Mercari my shopping came to a dramatic halt. The other day I went to buy something hard to find and she accepted an offer of $15, which is literally retail plus tax, but by the time I got it in my cart ready to check out it was nearly $30! I apologized to the seller and told her that I hope she's able to sell it but that I could not accept paying literally double the amount. She responded that this is the story everywhere now, her sales have plummeted and the sales of everyone she knows. They are dead in the water or will be soon.
I agree this is a horrible mistake. As a seller on Poshmark I foresee buyers offering and buying items only at lower prices because they have to include this fee in their total price. The little bit of increased amount I would make after fees will not make up for the fact that my items are now probably going to sell for a lower price. Also. As an occasional buyer on Poshmark this added buyer fee will make me look at other platforms to buy the item. I hope they realize their mistake and go back to the old fee structure.
eBay is getting rid of selling fees at the beginning of the new year. I sent you the article on eBay. They experimented in the UK and it was good for them so they’re rolling it out here.
♫💜 So will eBay charge the buyers extra fee$
@@tinahoffman7290 I believe so
That’s what I heard.
They just started in UK do not sure they know if no seller fees work on PRIVATE ACCOUNTS NOT BUSINESS ACCOUNTS!
@@tinahoffman7290yes on promoted but mercari did this and charged the buyer and this stopped sales!
I think this decision is going to be an absolute disaster! I’m a buyer AND a seller, and now I’m not sure if I’d like to be either! At least as the seller, I knew how much I needed to list for and how much to accept on those inevitable low ball offers, and I was ok with that. But as a buyer, charging me to BUY on the platform (essentially) ?? No thank you! It was already a struggle to justify buying, especially if it was a $15 item or less, because you knew basically between the shipping and the sales tax to add at least $10 so that was already 25 bucks. This morning, I randomly clicked on a $25 item just to see and it was going to charge me $39.98. ($25 + tax/fee $7.01 + S/H $7.97). 40 bucks to purchase a 25 dollar item!?? Sorry. That’s a HARD pass. Stick a fork in me. Cuz I’m done! 😡
Buyers NEVER like fees! Heck, I don't like to even see when I've paid more for shipping than what's printed on the label! If I wasn't selling on Posh, I would be confused by the fees, & bail out of the purchase. It's unwelcoming & off putting. Sellers are the ones under agreement with Poshmark, not the buyers. Buyers are the guests. Nope, it won't work. And even if they think that it's working, they won't know for sure because 4th quarter is the busiest and they won't be able to have a clear idea what the measure of success really was. Moving more eggs to ebay. Although I really do like their offer to Posh Ambassadors $5.95 shipping until the end of the year.
Warning for sellers on PM…You may actually pay more than 20% fees if you price between $15-$18 with the new fee structure. Depends on tax rate and shipping charge.
Poor timing. Buyers will not appreciate fees added at any time but especially at Christmas when everyone is looking for a deal.
Fees are on the sales taxes as well. This is so complicated now. What I liked about selling on Poshmark was the simplicity of fees. Now I need to do a bunch of different calculations to figure out profits 🤦♀️
My sales tanked, when Mercari did this!! I am lucky, if I get 4 sales a week 😢
Same. We don't even get that many sales. I stopped crossposting to Mercari, it simply isn't worth my time. If they change it back, I will come back.
I never get Mercari sales so I finally stopped listing there
Mercari & Poshmark are awful! Mercari has awful Customer Service. Both will lose sales because of stupid Buyers fees.
I truly never understood the idea of charging the buyer extra just to buy an item? What makes these companies think that would entice buyers to purchase? 😂🤣 And what great timing! Just in time for the holiday season 🙄
You didn’t state PM new fee percentage fee is calculated on TOTAL purchase price, plus SHIPPING charges and TAXES. The previous 20% fee was ONLY charged on item sale price (not on SHIPPING and TAXES).
Its right in the terms i screen shotted ;-)
Now buyers will understand why fees matter to us sellers. Most don't get it that when they low ball us that we already have to give 20% to Posh right off the top. Will see if this sticks or not, time will tell.
@@niutak76 Unfort you’re right…but that will make them stop buying
Be prepared for even lower lowball offers, because you already know it's gonna happen now for sure.
@@RockstarFlipper Yep, some buyers will go somewhere else unfortunately.
@@astracey1 You know it.
@@astracey1 hard to image lower than the ones I already get
I just received the email and knew you would have a video. Thanks
Sounds good but I'm suspicious they're going to start charging us a platform usage fee now.
I just sold my first item on poshmark since the new fee structure. My buyer wasn’t happy, so I lowered the price from $25 to $15 to accommodate him. Well, not only is he paying more, but so am I. The $15 item used to be charged $3 to the seller. Well, they charged me $3.33, and the buyer $3.33. It’s $2 plus 5.99% of (price + shipping +taxes). That is crazy. I think we are all going to watch our sales tank.
Our sales continue to grow on Mercari ever since they changed their fee structure. But we have also offered free shipping and offer deals. But even with free shipping and offers we still make more money on Mercari. We are excited about this change.
And Posh Ambassadors get $5.95 shipping, this is great, Do you use Pirate Ship ???
@@FloridaNative59 You can't use a 3rd party shipper on Poshmark
You are one of the few sellers to say this. May I ask if you sell items under $30? Most of my sales on Mercari are on cheap items.
I don’t sell on Posh but if I was a buyer on Posh, I don’t think I would be buying, with them charging me a fee just to do so.
Really bad for those of us that sell bread & butter brands at lower prices.
Im all for it, I will adjust and focus on great items that people want no matter the fees.
My sales on Mercari pretty much died after they started charging the buyer fees. Then i got scammed and Mercari fully supported the scammer buyer so i will no longer sell on Mercari. It went downhill fast.
Posh is 5.99% seller and 5.99% buyer I heard. Extra $1, $2, $3 depending on cost. To remain competitive with depop and Mercari.
Would you believe I deleted most of Poshmark listings yesterday? Yes I did! Most of my items sell on eBay, a few on Mercari and rarely on Posh. IMO, Poshmark only works with a resharing app. I don’t sell enough on there to justify the cost. I wonder too how all these buyers on Poshmark & Mercari are gong to adjust to their buyers fees.
Well I quit buying on Mercari because of the buyer's fees. Now if Poshmark pull the same garbage, I won't be buying there anymore either.
For S&G’s I just put a $65 item in my cart. It became an $85 item after tax and fees. Fees were more than than taxes. A 30% bump in the price at checkout is ludacris. I foresee many abandoned carts in the future.
I did the same thing! A $15 items came close to $30!!! I also hate how they don't break down the price unless you click on it! This is BEYOND ridiculous! 😒
@@tvart2652 took me a minute to figure out what S&Gs were lol! I just did it. Came to $26.32.
That's just beyond horrible.
Yeah, it's great if you're selling, but it's shit if you're buying and we need the buyers to survive
My sales have gone up SIGNIFICANTLY since Mercari did their fee change. In my opinion... the catch is that sellers have to adjust their pricing per platform and take into account that the buyers are now paying the fees. I price my items for eBay and when I crosslist to Poshmark I will add a few dollars to my asking price to account for the higher fee but with Mercari I now lower my asking price to what I actually want to make. With this new change to Posh tomorrow I will go thru my listings and adjust my pricing accordingly just like I did with Mercari and see what happens.
Same.
♫💜 RIP Poshmark as when Mercari added the sneaky fee to my cart I messaged the seller with my apologies for cancellation and suggested that she explore eBay instead... So hopefully eBay won't follow this BIG MISTAKE
She probably already has an ebay account and is secretly hoping you find it. That's what we wish people would do.
@@susanegley4149 I never thought of that but now i'll try to search
No good to any of the parts involved in a sale. Buyers will think twice before buying anything.
Off topic man, but you have an awesome looking open concept home! It actually inspires me to work harder! Thanks for your informative content!
Thanks a bunch! We love it here, got to design it all top to bottom so that was cool to
I’m glad you pointed this out because I’m unsure everyone realizes this. I much rather keep my higher seller fees and allow my buyers to be without a fee. It will deter some buyers ..or make them give lower offers anyway. You always have the latest breaking news in the reselling world lol thanks
One thing to note is if you are a Posh Ambassador status then your buyer gets a discounted shipping fee of $5.95 vs. buying from a regular seller and paying around $8 shipping. This will help offset buyer's extra fee. I see this as a plus as it will allow me to accept even lower offers on Posh.
Thanks for pointing that out! I didnt really read the email (since it was all over facebook) until you pointed that out. I think that is a good thing...but wonder what will happen once the end of the year hits 🤔
I was thrilled when I read this! The reduced shipping fee is something Posh needs to emphasize! The over all fees to a seller and buyer who sells some trinket and buys some trinket around $10 is great. I originally went with Posh because I thought most people would bundle but most of my sales involve one item. Buyers hated the nearly $8 mailing fee and if I reduced the fee, I actually lost money.
Just till the end of the year though sadly.
Always great on informing us of the changes and updates. Thanks, Casey
As a seller and a buyer I think this is a horrible idea. Perhaps buyers won't mind it too much when using Posh credit but if it's coming out of their bank account - and a $30 item that previously would have been $37 and change will now be $42 and change - they're probably not going through with that purchase. As a seller I don't want outrageous fees, obviously, but I don't mind being charged fees considering everything the platform offers and does. Not to mention the tax write off. Less fees now could mean more in taxes later. To your point about Amazon or Walmart .. could you imagine the uproar if they announced they will now charge a buyer fee?!!! I don't know why all these platforms are going this route.
wow!!!! this is a horrible idea! goodbye sales😢
These changes have killed the sites that implemented them. Buyers do not want to pay more for the 'privilege' of shopping on a certain site. What is most interesting to me is this: As sellers, fees are tax write-offs. The revenue paid by the buyer will be taxed to the Gov. in full as part of a retail purchase. So the Gov. gets even more money and bypasses sellers who can normally write those off. Buyers will run to sites that do not charge this. I bet you Amazon does not adopt this policy. Amazon will rake in TONS of buyers due to this.
You hit the nail on the head
I mean, does anybody else find it odd that basically all selling platforms aside from Amazon are now suddenly within approximately six months of each other, switching to destroying their platform by charging a fee to their buyers? This is practically obvious self harm to your own company. Not only is it a bad idea, what company would think it’s especially a good idea in the midst of a terrible economy and massive inflation that the customer would want to pay more in an arbitrary fee at checkout? It’s very difficult to not go to a conspiracy where entities are colluding behind the scenes so that Amazon comes out on top.
Without adjusting shipping now any item you purchase on posh starts at approx $14 BEFORE you buy the item. This will kill sales for all lower priced items and a lot of individual item sales.
As a buyer, I already hate paying the shipping fee, extra fees will really push me away.
Ebay UK just announced no fees this afternoon
Buying is a psychological process. Posh just threw up a giant roadblock in that process. What an asinine thing to do. They won't be able to get around buyers feeling taken advantage of, even if sellers lower prices to make up for it. Potential buyers will only see it as a negative and the economy is already exteremly turbulent.
Absolutely correct
I think they should have fixed their shipping before doing this.
I mean...we do pay a fee to shop on amazon if you're a prime member. but i agree that this is a huge mistake. There are too many places for people to shop to be making people pay to shop there. This makes no sense to me at all. I was happy until I realized that they were also charging the buyer. Buyers will start lowballing even more and asking for free shipping even more than they already are. And I can't say I blame them. I think I'll have to look at cross posting to depop or thread up now. This is wild to me. I was fine with the 20% because I knew what I was gettin in exchange in comparison to ebay. If it's not working for mercari, what makes them think it'll work for them. It's honestly making me feel like maybe the company is in trouble pulling stunts like this out of nowhere.
The difference is that with Prime membership you feel, and understand, that you are paying for something "extra". You are paying for the lightning speed of delivery and you do it voluntarily.
@@tomasznabaglo4307prime does NOT give you lightening delivery, it provides free shipping on lots of items, but at the same delivery speed.
@@tomasznabaglo4307Exactly and you’re getting something for that money - free shipping, which pays for itself over and over if you’re a regular shopper. There’s a huge difference in buying necessities on Amazon vs wants on a platform like Poshmark. The buyer gets nothing for the extra fee. I would never shop on a platform that had fees for nothing. Paying shipping is already hard enough when you’re used to free shipping on Amazon.
Bye bye Poshmark. I don’t go to platforms where buyers have to pay fees.
I don’t feel like posh can say they are “reducing” anything. Like you said they are still collecting it. It’s gonna crush sellers because less buyers will buy from posh now that they have to pay a fee on top of the cost of the goods. Just my opinion
All costs of doing business are passed onto the consumer, whether a seller pays fees and/or a buyer pays fees at the end of the day buyers are really paying all of the fees in the form of higher prices. Sadly, the average American is so clueless they can't understand that, just like many think shipping is actually "free". Buyers could also help sellers (and by extension themselves) by contracting their Congressman and demanding postal price control and reform...but that would be too much work I guess.
I agree with you about this being a bad idea. The buyer is now going to expect an even cheaper price to compensate for the fee and in the end the seller is going to make the same amount or even less. Poshmark needs to rethink this idea!!!!
Exactly or leave poshmark all together
1000% agree this is a mistake for Poshmark. They should never ever ever add more fees to the buyers. Sellers are nothing without the buyers. Sellers will just have to start lowering their prices to make up for the fees in order to get sales so there is no benefit to sellers either really. Plus it's very confusing and hard to keep track of for sellers. I hope this gets reversed too.
hmmmmm no one wants to know they have to pay 6% more plus $1 when they buy something. It's turned me off from mercari buying before...
I sell on Mercari, if my buyer contacts me first before purchase, and tell me they would like to purchase the item, but it cost around 52.00 with their fees and shipping for a 35.00 item, I will try to adjust the shipping to a smaller box and manual adjust the price, if there are offers sent out on it. I made the sale at $3.00 less than my asking price, and the buyers fees dropped drastically.
@@brendaaudia8355 goodonya :)
Thanks for the info. This makes NO SENSE at all, shifting burden on the buyer is not good idea, this is coming from Poshmark seller. I think Poshmark is TOO greedy, it will backfire
Its never worked before and wont work now
Final nail in the coffin. Poshmark is dead. Buyers will not understand and will shop somewhere else. Ugh!
The buyer pays 6.99% of purchase price plus tier of $1,$2,$3 tier
Correct
Just ran a couple of numbers on a few items. Comes out to about 15% for me as a seller, over 6% for buyers. For items sold between $15 and $18 the fee will actually be higher than 20% for sellers, but that's just a small range. Poshmark is making more money with this. My Mercari sales stayed about the same when they made the change. My Depop sales have suddenly increased for some reason. It'll be interesting to see how it goes. While nobody likes to pay fees, I do think it's fair for buyers and sellers to share fees. Both benefit from someone taking the time and effort to create a platform so that you can buy and sell.
TFS. I haven’t got any emails from posh yet on this change.
I never got it, i had to find out from my followers thankfully
Personally, I cancelled all my current offers to sellers after seeing the huge added fee at the very end! Horrible horrible idea, and you know what? They are also
negatively affecting me as a seller not just as a buyer because other buyers will think many times before purchasing from my closet now as well!
I hate when they make changes like this but to be honest - it will probably be a wash in the end. I was more pissed about the returns policy changes that Mercari made which clearly was a bad decision that they heard loud and clear. The difference between these sites and other retailers is you can’t make offers on Amazon, Target and Walmart. The price is the price. As sellers, we are just going to have to make and accept lower offers.
Personally i won’t buy if there’s a added fee
Amazon kind of does with Prime...now we get more for the money but yeah this is so weird.
So basically, Poshmark acknowledges that they make more sales on smaller fee items (why else would they change it to charge more on lower purchases unless of course you’re trying to lower the amount of small sales on your platform) , and instead of just renegotiating, the shipping prices with usps and creating tiered shipping costs, they opt to pass an additional fee to the buyer meaning other will get lower offers, or less sales 😒
Had to lower my prices on Mercari in order to sell. Trying all kinds of things right now I.E. Free shipping, bundles, 1.5 times profit prices, auctions on ebay.
Thank heavens it's on the US site. I'm on the Canadian site and freaked while listening to this, thinking this is gonna ruin business. Thanks for your videos. ;)
Wonder why they didn't do it to Canada
Huge mistake! Unless eBay starts doing it then there is not really a big used marketplace left so people will adapt just like online sales tax wasn’t a thing a few years ago and now and now it’s part of online shopping.
Exactly, and selling used on
Walmart online is now a thing, with launching Resold, matching mercari's zero fees for sellers (on collectibles and 'more' until EOM) and revamping their global seller center/Walmart marketplace gained 30 percent more sales and new sellers overall grew 20%....the smaller online platform has to attract sellers more than ever to stay in the game. We've heard Mercari doesn't lack buyers. It will be interesting to see what ebay does next.
Well, if my poshmark store wasn't dead already, this will be the nail in the coffin!it's coming for EBAY we gotta prepare.
This is the worse idea. What buyer wants to pay fees to buy an item??? Sales are already terrible and buyers already hate shipping fees and taxes. They just shifted the fees to customers.. bad bad deal..
I haven't gotten over losing sales from posh shows and high shipping fees!! now additional fee for buyer protection?? what next?
They just killed Christmas profits
I'm a seller on various platforms and an occasional buyer. Mercari's fee change killed my sales and I refuse to buy anything now. I can buy new sometimes cheaper.
I wonder how it's affected their bottom line
I will continue on Poshmark, but this change isn't good for anyone except PM. I won't buy anything.
And...it's a crime that our selling fee on other platforms & now PM include shipping & tax. I'll never understand how they get away with doing that.
Not a good idea for Poshmark, imho. My Mercari sales have tanked since they started charging fees to buyers. eBay is the OG reselling platform and will always be. The others are doomed.
Oh also, they are charging fee to the buyer as one would pay a fee at a real auction.
The timing is great for sellers!
Posh seller here. I may go over to ebay. I think posh made a big mistake.
Ebay has 10x the buyers. you shoudl already be on ebay for sure!!
Dont be scared of the shipping and return policies. VERY easy to learn
I was excited about this new fee structure until I did the math and when I did, I realized sellers would only be making $1-2 more per sale. Example: $25 sale - 20% = $20. New fee structure: $25 sale - 6% = $23.50 - additional $2 fee for sales up to $50 = $21.50. That is only an extra $1.50 on that sale. Honestly I'm more excited about Posh Pass which will give my buyers discounted shipping on every item courtesy of Poshmark.
extra $1.50 is good for us on a $25 sale thats an extra 6%. but the loss in sales due to buyers running away will cost much more
Really not even making 2 more. the fees is figured on the item sale price, sales tax and shipping rate. so a 25 sale plus sales tax and shipping discounted will be around $33.45 and fees would be 4.00 netting seller 21 instead of the old way 20.00. and posh will have a total fee of 8.00 - the discounted shipping they are covering until dec 31st.
@@ecoleejr That's a good point! This might turn out to be a marketing tactic and a way to increase the amount of fees they collect overall (from buyers and sellers) in a single transaction.
Thanks for keeping us updated on the changes in the reseller world. You Rock!
Anytime!!
I think it's a mistake as well....buyers won't want to pay fees and they will look elsewhere....or they will ask the seller to lower prices more. More likely buyers will go to eBay.
My Mercari sales went down when they changed their fee structure.
eBay is doing the same thing starting the new year. It worked in the UK where they tested it and found it to be worth changing. So it starts Jan 1.
@@TheAntiqBoutiq Good to hear....with being a clothing seller, we have to promote our listings and the fees are the highest of any of the platforms!
@@francineoye8204 ridiculous right
The buyers protect will cause a lot of returns.
People won’t stop buying if there’s something they really want and they see across the board that the price is the same or similar. If it’s a platform they trust, they’ll stick with it. I know plenty of people who could save money shopping on eBay or poshmark or Amazon and they’ll buy where they feel most comfortable instead of saving money or searching for it again somewhere else. They’ll buy just like we’ll sell. There may be a dip but they’ll acclimate to it while complaining like we all do with everything else we buy.
Nope not always more for the seller. I sold a $15 item and my seller fee was $3.31. The 5.99% is in the $15 item plus tax, in my case $.90 plus shipping, fo4 me $5.95. Buyer would pay the same. I got $11.69 instead of $12.
@@Mari-hb4cw that explains it
I think you forgot to mention Posh Ambassadors & Posh Ambassadors ll will have free shipping charged to Posh until Dec 31
I sold $15 item today, and my fees ended up more then similar pricecitem last week. Plus buyer paid them. I am pooling all low dollar items off Poshmark
Items priced from $15 - $18 you will pay a higher percentage on. $14 and below comes out better and $19 and above comes out better. Just a small range where it comes out higher.
I am a buyer on Posh not a seller, this is a HUGE MISTAKE
GIANT
Big mistake!!!! We will be forced to drop prices just to make a sale if we make one😢
My sales instanly plummeted when Mercari implemented their new fee structure. However I do still cross-post from eBay to Mercari. Mercari shoppers have figured out most sellers are also on eBay, and are going over to eBay to purchase the item for lower fees and sometimes lower shipping. So basically Mercari is helping my eBay sales....thanks Mercari!
@@tamadoffin7773 yup I heard this same thing from tons of people. I expect the same on posh
Is good because I sell Pokémon cards, and it helps since the slim margin already, and now with the holiday shipping increase hurts seller
im against charging buyers any type of fee's. you feel gouged enough when you add to cart and see high shipping plus taxes...now a buying fee? its going to make people spend less money on your platform. it'll turn into a race to the bottom with sellers because buyers will want a discount because of this new 6% fee that appeared overnight.
DING DING DING
Being a seller, it sounds good for me but, if I was to buy products, I wouldn't like the additional fee's being added.
In my opinion buyers premiums are a bad idea. Buyers are looking for deals or reasonable prices, not to pay MORE. Poshmark may have simply tried a 10% sellers fee for the holiday season to get the listing volume up. New structure seems overly complicated. If I’m the seller I’m totally fine paying a fee to use a platform.
Definitely cross listing all my items to eBay
As long as the glitches are not excessive, I think it's great timing. It may encourage many to jump in before the holidays and become resellers. On the downside, those of us that already sell on the platform, may have to lower our prices to encourage buyers to continue to buy. Time will tell!
I just had my first Poshmark sale since they changed the fees, and I don't like it! They claim it will lower your overall fees, but that's not the case. I sold something for $16. Under the old fee structure I would have paid $3.20 in fees. With the new fee structure I'm now paying $3.50 AND the buyer is paying a fee as well. The only people this benefits is Poshmark.
Its lower for higher items but not cheaper i believe the way the math works
You are right it will hurt the platform
Pretty dumb. Why in the world would a customer want to pay an extra fee on top of the purchase price? “Because of buyer protection”. That buyer protection should be included without the buyer having to pay an additional fee just like eBay does it. LOL. I truly don’t get it
BINGO
from what i can tell, buyer protection is the same protection they always had. nothing more.
@@theultra79 it is. Just word salad to woo people
I made my first sale since this rolled out and on a $15 item I would usually make $12 instead I only made 11.69 so I’m not seeing how those fees are breaking down. I didn’t make more I made less!
Amazon does charge buyers for prime membership, yearly fee.
But that gives amazon TV, Music, subcriptions, AND prime shipping.. its not just a fee for buying an item.. much more to it
Imagine being charged for entering any brick and mortar store.
Exactly
