I also sell furniture, more than 5,000 lifetime sales, massive dip in traffic the past 90 days - never seen anything like it. My Etsy ads in particular have gone from $75 a day spend profitably to $20 a day spend unprofitably. It’s honestly destroying my livelihood and all I got from this audit was really “we don’t understand what Etsy is doing at all, drive your own traffic and go elsewhere.”
My store visits have also gone down 40% and I think around April as well after years. I notice that most of my competitors are down 40% on sales as well. Something major has shifted
Same here...started mid April. I was so busy with pictures, listings SEO that l only really sat down to deeply check mid July. In the meantime Ads, sending old clients cupons and only because of the coupons l was not ZERO for 3 months. After a lot of coming and going with ETSY and having my shop listings checked in 3 countries and NOTHING showing( not 1 listing), ETSY wrote me ( after weeks trying to contact someone) saying that they had ACCIDENTALLY turn off my listings!!!!! " we are very sorry for this inconvenience " and very much against their will 50 euros in credit and THAT WAS IT. And that was my main season and loads of deapths and the shop is still hurting. You can be sure I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE
Personally for my shop, didn’t have “vacation mode”. Since 2014 I was going up year after year (in views and sales). Spring 2023 I was suddenly going 50-60% down in views and revenues and sales. Something happened in Etsy algorithm ❗️
February over night massive drop. Overall sales traffic down from more than half compared to last year. Over night litrally nothing. Only few sales this year most repeat customers few new. But noticed in February again feedback was becoming less and less. When most would leave feedback. Now feedback pretty none existent. Despite happy customers. Something is defo not right and we all looseing out big time
She said she got her website up and running a few months ago, when I started my website, my etsy sales dropped. I think there could be link to that, I think etsy (or google?) don't like you having a website.
I never, EVER have put my shop on Vacation mode. I've been selling on Etsy for 16 years. I just adjust my production times and put that in my announcement as well as the follow up email. Never had any issues
The economic climate is difficult at the moment, which affects house buying. I personally would not pay that kind of money buying off Etsy. I would want to personally go and see the piece I was buying. Trends also drop especially at that price. It is always going to be a limited market place.
Some of her furniture photos are blurry and needs to show the inside of drawers and cabinets for the price. Listings have short titles with a slant between phrases (does not read like a buyer would type in search). Plus, a bad economy does not help for high-end, one-of-a-kind specialty pieces. Etsy has had a lot of bad press this year, buyers may be very hesitant to purchase large ticket items off the platform.
First time watching your show.....I have an Etsy shop and I also think putting your shop in 'vacation mode' does damage to you as an Etsy seller. Not exactly sure what Etsy does but I've heard lots of stories from other Etsy sellers of things changing after going on vacation mode.
Vacation mode doesn’t “damage” your shop. But as you will not have views and orders your items are not “pushed” and therefore when you open again you are behind. Every year I have my shop in vacation mode 3 times 1-2 weeks. What I do is I have a shop message saying when I’m back and inviting them to convo me if they are interested in an item and I’ll reserve it for them. An automated message saying I’ll answer within 24 hours. I answer their question and reserve items if needed and when I open I send a direct link with the item. Within hours my shop has orders and is running normal again. EVERY vacation. Make it easy for that customer to make those first orders and you’re fine. Happy sales and vacations 😊
Same here, and I think the drop of the sales that everyone suffering it's because of the war in Ukraine and Israel effects the economy and peoples priorities.
While my revenue is up, my conversion rate is down. I added more listings, improved SEO, designs, etc. If my conversion rate stayed the same or increased (ideally), I’d be killing it right now. 😑 Not sure how to fix that. I feel like I’ve tried everything.
It seems like everyone is having this issue on Etsy right now. Not necessarily anything she’s doing wrong or different. I list new items every day and have seen a huge shift as well in traffic and sales.
I saw a piece on another site saying that Etsy may be pushing away traffic from more seasoned sellers to new. It sounds crazy but I really wonder if there is truth.
@@tinaindina7032 not certain on that. If the same sales are happening across the board does Etsy really care where the sales come from (seller A vs seller b)? Etsy has a limited supply of traffic (possibly declining) so maybe spread the traffic across sellers. Etsy may have created a more equitable algorithm that’s penalizing experienced sellers. So if new sellers B and C comes along and the same category item sells they may get a strong push over seller A who has been there for years. Remember Etsy’s revenue stream from sellers is also important to the company. So as long as sales are happening, why not take traffic from seller A and reward to sellers B and C. To me this may result in the declines we are seeing with experienced sellers.
I opened my Etsy store at the end of last year. Surprisingly, within a month or so, I started selling, especially two of my products. For being a brand new store and with not many listings, I was going higher in sales and suddenly, last month, my sales dropped down to 0. I don’t know what happened. I didn’t make any significant change to my store except for adding more listings. Does anybody know what’s going on??
There were no explanations as to what happened to her traffic? I don't think anyone knows. Since May 1st my visits are down 45%, revenue down 27% YOY. Not sure what is going on.
Ok, so I am confused. Are you saying that we don't list all our products in Etsy Adds? So, how do you choose which ones to list? Do you look at how many listings are looked at and just list those??
My opinion is it was going on Vacation and losing that momentum during Googles change. I sell on Poshmark and March 2022 1000s of Full Time sellers fell off a cliff with sales. It is not her products that is the problem. She needs to pay for Google Ads now or be ready to pivot with new lines or new ways to sell.

Thanks for saving me 45 minutes. I was thinking of opening a shop with nothing unique in terms of product ideas so I'll save my time. Thank you
I also like this i sell 3000 more sales in 2 years and the sales of the money decreased by even 90 percent even sometimes I don't make sales in a day.
I am in the same predicament as well. My sales have really dropped last three months and yet some listings are still Etsy pick

Thanks for sharing. How do you contact them and under which reasons under Etsy contact?

I've heard that Google doesn't like getting the same exact images from two different sources

Excellent audit. Thank you
Same! April was the beginning of a sharp decline.
Yep! April changed for me, too!!

Her furniture is so beautiful 😍😍😍😍

Yes, i just always prolong my processing times and never had any issues.

My stats are about the same 150k year down to 36k for this year
I saw a piece on another site saying that Etsy may be pushing away traffic from more seasoned sellers to new. It sounds crazy but I really wonder if there is truth.
Nope. That wouldn’t make good business sense. Any e-commerce business will push what’s selling. And Etsy doesn’t have that info on new items.

Her avg price per clothes ck is .24 and mine is .80 what is up with that
She only needs to advertise 2 listing with the high ROAS with the 100.00 dollars.

She has 68 sales for 7 years. That's less than a sale a month. Of course that not having a sale one month is 100% down.
She’s selling expensive furniture as much as $5k and higher
