Our VW Transporter T4 LWB High Roof has great big barn doors at the rear. They're excellent for access and give standing height entrance into the van - as well as superb views out of the rear of the van - something we have enjoyed many times.
Being a rare long wheel base factory high roof version means that there are sometimes limited after-market accessories available to purchase - barn door awnings is an example. There are many available for other van makes, and even ones for Transporters with tailgates, but the tall barn doors on the T4 high roof are uncommon and no-one makes an awning or sun canopy that fits over them properly.
So we decided to make a sun canopy for ourselves!

tip - use a heat gun on an awning rail the help bend and shape it.

Great idea. I was trying to design something similar so this is really helpful. What's the name of the strip you attach to the fabric that slots into the rail? I couldn't quite catch it on the video. May I ask where you sourced it please?

it's about 1.8m maybe a little more
@@AdventuresAutomobiles Uh, im 1,88 tall and i was courious if i can fit in one of T4 with high roof but its hard to find deminsions for every version of the roof, i do know that theres higher versions but just didnt know is that one high enough for me. Thx anyway :) have a good day
I've just measured for you and it's 186cm with wood floor down and roof insulated as I have done.
