very cool! I have a 91 Trooper I've built out in Hawaii, its great fun! The 91's had a metal doorstop strap at the bottom that stops in one position and you pull on it to unstop it and close the door
I do something similar with my 80 series but I do not have a roof rack, I just run the tarp over the back of the body of the vehicle and fasten it to the wheel arches like you do and 2 tent poles, 1 out on each opposing corner. I love the idea of the tent pole to hold the doors open.. I'm gonna pinch that idea lol...
I definitely gave you a 'thumbs-up' for the brilliant 'door stop' before you mentioned that it was worth a 'thumbs-up.' 🤣 I have a van with barn doors in the back and I've been using a 12" light stick as a door stop. Always afraid it's gonna break. I wonder if a telescoping curtain rod would work as well. I have one of those on hand, so might try it. Thanks for the ideas!
plus i was thinking, i travel with a silver tarp and also a shade cloth tarp so this design you could possibly have to different awnings depending on the weather..
Peter that is what you call thinking outside the box. Good on you.
Thanks
That extending tent pole across the rear doors is great!
I love it! My best invention to date for the Troopy. Thanks for watching.
Very nice; Now we just need a good meal to go with the journey!
Yes we do

Thanks for watching. I wonder whether the metal doorstop was a custom part or a Toyota part. Any idea?

Great idea
I think it might be a good idea also for an FJ Cruiser when the two side doors are opened.
Great suggestion.
Nice Troopy! I have one too. What company makes your trailer hitch? Thx.
It’s a Toyota factory fitted unit, which I got on delivery of the car in 2010
@@Adventure8 Thx
“Port” has four letters and so does “Left”
👍
Why not just buy a free standing 270 awning
That is an option, maybe for the future.
Patent it
