- Today we are going to look at the origin, secrets, timeline, story, lore, mysteries and history of the hammer bro enemy from the super mario bros series. They have been seen in a ton of games like super mario world, super mario galaxy 2, super mario 3d land, super mario 3d world, super mario odyssey and way more! Over the years they have been seen on so many nintendo consoles like the game boy, snes, nes and soon the new nintendo switch. They have always been loyal to bowser and have helped him kidnap princess peach multiple times. But what changed in all those years? how did they change in terms of use, story, game design and more. Well let's have a look and analyse it all and discuss it!

5:39 I think the reason is because the main way you deal with enemies is by jumping on or over them. And since Hammer Bros are the toughest enemies it make since that they would do that.
They introduced the boomerang power up in 3D land, you can sometimes get it by beating a boomerang bro.

The Army hammer bro. has only appeared in Super Princess Peach which is considered a spinoff platforming game. Nintendo should bring that character back in the new Super Mario Bros. games. Also, why haven't they introduced hammer sistas(sisters) yet?

Idea for the hammer bro with all powers: Its called Wild Bro, and it can change between the powers of Sumo, Hammer, Fire, Boomerang, And Ice bros. It changes between powers by doing a transformation(Idk what that would look like) but have some physical features that stay, so you know it a Wild Bro, like a horn or something. Like if you think that would be awesome.
And coins from gold bros because they count as a species of hammer bro too

I do think it's still by far the best super powerup the Mario series has ever had. It is overpowered but also appropriately hard to get and has it's own way of working. They could have just been lazy and make it an ultra flower that throws bigger fireballs but they actually made it it's own thing. I wish they did that again. Have an overpowered powerup that has it's own mechanics.

The Amazing Flying Hammer (AFH) Bro definitely needs an update.
You forgot one thing about the original hammer bro. If you take too long sitting out of reach of their hammers eventually they'll chase after you.
I honestly think the Chargin' Chuck enemies found in World are part of the Hammer Brothers evolution. I mean, they are often fought in twos, like Hammer Bros. They also tend to charge like football players and throw baseballs and footballs.
Honestly hammer bros aren't too hard to avoid when there are breakable blocks for them to jump on top of. You just have to avoid their hammers from far away or get close enough no to get hit by the hammer bros or the hammer bro himself, then when it goes on top of the blocks hit it from below
