I've always thought that "just because" is a valid reason to do stuff... But I understand their server is getting laggy and a new farm they made just because would make it worse
It might not be useless in the future though, and at the end of the video he talks about getting a double chest of poisonous potatoes, which are almost as useless as beetroots currently.

Beetroots even have the obnoxious feature of making soup: a non-stackable food source that leaves empty bowls in your inventory just out of spite.
@SaryanS, they are evil just like beetroots. You would have to use them for the sake of using them. Beetroots, you can make dye out of them, but that's a waste considering you can just use flowers. Furnace minecarts are just like that. You spend a whole load of coal and end up with a buggy minecart that is too unreliable. And it doesn't even travel a good distance. If you are going to be behind the cart, right clicking it constantly, you might as well just manually push carts around. I tried using them in the past, but it was a lot less painful to manually push minecarts, or just use powered rails.

To increase the efficiency of the grass farm you could actually power and depower the rails with your hopper-dropper clock you showed us a while ago. So you would break all the grass and would also lose less bone meal
I once built exactly this grass farm on a server that had a jobs plugin and you would get money as a farmer for destroying grass to get seeds haha Edit: just to mention it here before it would be called copying ... Ray and I are currently working on a spongefarm so expect that to happen on prototech to in the future

Oh sorry what i meant was a modified version to suit the larger box of the elder and also safeguards to stop the machine if the player is in the area (unnecessary really but whatever lol) so that you dont have to deal with fatigue, getting more milk, etc.
Only 1 head out of the whole lot. That's what makes it crap. Otherwise, people would just store wither skeletons in lazy chunks to blow up thousands with a charged creeper (and i think this was the case for a couple of snapshots when it was first added - not anymore)

ilmango if you are looking in to the grass/fern farm redesigen. Maybe try to look down on the block, so that you aim the tophalf of the double tall grass after it is growen, this would prevent the replacing you showed. In this case there is also a aiming, if you place against the block next to the grass/fern at the same hight from above, at the top pixels, were you could place it over and over becaus the hitbox of the small grass/fern is not preventing it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that you could get all the mob heads you would need if you crammed a ton of creepers into a couple blocks, and then waited for lightning to hit them all. Then you could send a ton of zombies, skeletons, and creepers through a nether portal (to bypass the mob cap) along with one of the charged creepers , make the charged creeper blow up, and repeat until you have enough heads.
Wait! I thought that the donkey/end portal duplication glitch was fixed! If it isn't, can you do a tutorial on it? I can't seem to get it to work using the methods I've seen.
ugh, ilmango, I've done everything I can think of to get this farm working, but the redstone dust aren't powering and neither is my golden rail on top of the observer just below the pistons. Not sure what's wrong, but I guess I'll just have to wait for the tutorial :-/
I'm on sg1.beastmc.com right now if you wanna take a look at it. Otherwise, assuming you're able to re-create what you see in the video (there are a few parts that are hard to catch) and you're making the 2nd version where he has the extra dispenser, then what I added to make it work was to add a block with a powered rail on it under the observer that gets moved away when off. put this under the "on" position. then have an observer "looking" at that powered rail with it's output towards the front of the machine. Place an observer under that watching that observer with output into a block. that should power the golden rail down below that updates the crops, and the first observer added should power the 3 redstone dust powering the dispensers. Hope that helps! I thought he mentioned something about having problems with directionality, but I tested this version in all directions and it works fine. I also have this working on a spigot server just fine!
Do you do anything against the laggy item frames? I have a pretty decent PC but within my storage system my FPS drop quite a bit. For me its okay but for some of my friends its really laggy there. We exchanged as many item frames as possible with the actual blocks but its still a lot. Love your videos btw

In terms of the mobheads/charged creeper farm: I dont know if you thought about this, but you can increase the efficency of a charged creeper farm by putting a whole bunch of creepers in one spot. Using this concept you could technically earn like 100+ charged creepers from a single lightning which reduces your afk time to a few days. I'm sure you can develope an automatic head farm out of this. Please correct me if im wrong, i havent played for some time now.
I have a module for a fast creeper farm. It is currently the smallest charged creeper farm module available, but it can be made smaller. I have a concept for a "fast" charged creeper farm, basically uses nametags, and you get more than one creeper per lightning strike becouse they are close together, and you would also be able to put multiple creepers per cell, and blow them up separately. Ill build it up propably tomorrow and leave it running on tickwarp for like a week on my desktop, after that it should be fine to compare the results
@Jason- indeed, you can place more than one but if you want more in a specific region, you need to make sure that you are within range of them at least once every 5 seconds within a 32 block radius so they don't despawn. That, or use nametags. There are already farms that use more than one creeper and I believe Eta also has a design that he didn't release as well as someone else (forgot the name). Check the video on lightning mechanics and also, 100 creepers per cell would cause immense lag (most people and servers probably cant run that). @Blue indeed you do only get 1 skull regardless. If it were the case that you could get all the skulls, obviously they would have done so (not to be rude). But yeah, it does reduce the max possible efficiency by a lot and it's not really all that worth it since the best you can use a charged creeper for is trolling, collection, bragging rights, skulls (for banners that can be copied so you only really need 1 skull), mob arenas, etc.
The rates of a charged creeper farm is purely dependent on the number of creepers. It doesn't matter how spread out they are, because it gets canceled out with the chance of actually getting hit. That's mostly the reason why I haven't worked on it in a long time. Why bother making a complex contraption when you can put all of them in a 1x1 hole, and the average rates would be the same..

Why wouldnt you? Some machines might break but you can update them with simple fixes and the world gen would be different but other than that, there should be no issue and everything can be fixed so long as it wasn't reliant on a preexisting bug in 1.8.9.

That's a funny idea with duplicating the elder guardian :P Back when I ran a public server my stance on dupe glitches was "it's okay as long as you cannot duplicate any item in the game with the glitch." hopper duping - no, end portal fallingsand duping - fair game. I don't think anyone tried entity duping but I dunno if it was discovered then. (This was before 1.11's shulker shells which I totally would have made an exception for)

I believe that in larger volumes of agricultural culture, more advanced players are needed, and for them saving is not important. I on my channel showed the most compact farm of this type (what I showed was not the final version).
i dont know if u know that, but u can automatically generate poisoneaous potatoes by putting a minecart hopper under a automated potatoes farm based on pnj farming (quite slow, but im sure ull improve it as always). this way its automated and u dont need to be afk at the farm

you can figure out the grass farm just by looking. it's 2 detector rails powering a dispenser with bone meal inside it

i dont know how you could stop elder guardians from giving you mining fatigue but yeah duping entitys with endportals is an old concept

not true. it will only drop a maximum of one mob head. (unless they've changed this mechanic fairly recently, but i doubt that's the case)

Why not use an auto fishery for the nametags? Seems like trading for them would be a lot more work than letting the fishery AFK for a while...

somerandomperson 29 they don't drop a head when hit by lightning - they have to be killed through an explosion by a charged creeper

If a group of mobs explode by a charged creeper, only one will drop a head.

You cant auto place blocks in minecraft unlesss you AFK and hold the right click button, unless mojang adds a solid block placer like dispenser.
