Thank you Danny for making people know about Death, a criminally overlooked band. More a dare than a suggestion : please do a bass and guitar cover of Living Colour "Wall" on this contraption.
You mentioned watching Thomas the Tank Engine…. So here’s a **FUN BEHS-based FACT** that involves Thomas the Tank Engine ! The Chief Modeler for the first series of “Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends” on TV was *TIM STAFFELL* Who years before had been the one-time Bassist and Vocalist for a band called SMILE - alongside one Brian May on guitar/vocals, and Roger Taylor on drums/vocals. When Tim Staffell decided to leave Smile for other opportunities with a band called Humpy Bong… He was replaced on Lead Vocals by his Ealing Arts College classmate and friend FARROKH “FREDDIE” BULSARA. Farrokh changed the band name to QUEEN, and his own name to FREDDIE MERCURY. And then , after running through up to 7 bassists … The band Queen finally met, auditioned and hired one young and shy 19 year old bassist named… JOHN DEACON ! And so that one fateful decision by TIM STAFFELL to leave his band resulted in TWO legendary outcomes: 1) QUEEN (And John Deacon’s rise to Bass Legend status) 2) The tv show adaptation of THOMAS THE TANK ENGINE.
Thanks for that info. I didn't know Tim Staffell was also the bassist, and I didn't know what he also did, so I'm glad to hear that he had a good outcome as well.
@@herseem here’s another “small world, innit?” piece of trivia involving Tim Staffell : Once Tim was established as a working graphic artist, an American artist Jim Laurier approached him to design a “friendly-looking alien” for a magazine cover (July 1980 edition of Creepy magazine) Tim took the commission, created said alien character (who read what looked like an alien glossy magazine), got paid and moved on…no big deal, right ? A few years later, a long-time musician gained permission from Laurier to use that magazine cover art as the cover of his new solo album. (With a slight tweak of adding the musician’s picture on the alien’s reading material) On the back of the album was the musician reading a copy of that Creepy magazine July 1980 edition, so it appears that the alien and the musician are reading about each other. Very cute repurposing, right ? Here’s the twist - that musician was ROGER TAYLOR, for his solo album Fun In Space. (Released 6 April 1981) He had no idea that his long-lost buddy Tim Staffell had designed the alien on the magazine cover… And Tim had no idea his alien had been repurposed for Roger’s album ! Neither found out until the two reunited some years later, and Tim spotted the album (featuring his alien) on Roger’s mantelpiece while visiting his home.
@@imweakfordeakyI would have never imagined Tim, of all people in this world, to be involved with Thomas! Amazing detail! Goes to show that 2 odd decades of listening to Queen are not enough to know all about them :)

Danny, I love your videos. You're so much more relatable than all these TH-camrs who play bass. Unlike them, you're a bass player with a TH-cam channel, and I mean that in the most flattering way.
i typically don’t comment but thank you danny for not selling out and valuing keeping the music alive over making a quick buck! in this day and age advertising is far too common, and it’s a breath of fresh air refusing sponsorships.

Bought my first BEHS at the tender age of 16 in 1975 2nd hand for £60. It was a 1964 Burns Vista Sonic with 3, yes 3 pickups. I still have it and I still love it. I found it in a well renowned music shop that had been ransacked by local scmbgs. They took the Gibsons, Fenders and Rickenbackers but threw the poor old Burns in a corner. It has at least 3 coats of purple paint over the sunburst finish, it is missing the bridge cover, pickup cover (which I took off because it got in the way of my style of playing), and has more chips and scratches than I can count, but I love it. I played it in 2 bands in my teens and twenties and my son has also played it on stage. I have been offered stupid amounts of money for it. I don't believe it's worth that much but I still refused to sell.

Clearly the maker of the Strat-ish half of your newest acquisition was negligent. 😊

That bridge looks familiar. I reckon that bass might have been made in Japan in the 80's. These were actually nice basses, and are getting collectable. Shame it's been cut in half. 😆 But save that piece of door panel mate. It's now the most valuable part.
I had a Hondo II P-bass that had these with unchromed brass saddles that went through-body like this. It was pretty good in fact, not surprising as many Japanese factories were all pretty recently kitted out with cnc. Encore were rubbish though.
I think the challenge here is, can you find your best guitarist friend and possibly play BOTH at the same time. I would try to lay the thing down and play it on a table top. Or if your feelin frisky one person (maybe guitarist) straps it on up high and you can play the bass in a loving embrace
If you’re not going to go the collab route or use a looper, I’d say tune the guitar to some slack tuning and run it through a whammy pedal. Play some ringing open chords on the guitar, whammy pedal handles the chord changes, play some sweet behs lines over it.
While back I found bass for 10 gbp with combo amp, it was low end bass but fully functional and didn't sound half bad apart from combo. I gave to a friend, so he could join other bands
