My top 3 most impactful manga read this year are Witch Hat Atelier, Chihayafuru and Yona of the Dawn (I recently did a re-read of it after taking a break from it a few years ago so that I wouldn’t keep forgetting the story between volumes).
A couple series I’ve read this year that left an impression on me: -Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You - Basara - Vinland Saga - Library Wars I also re-read Assassination Classroom, which was a great time
OMG I never thought ”Housekeeping Mage in Another World” would get talked about!!! It looks so unassuming at first but the writing was definitely a step above the typical fare.
it's so darn good! I was hooked so darn quickly and found the rest of the series in my cart so fast haha. Hopefully a few folks check it out after the video :)
❗OH MY GOD IT'S MISSING PART OF MY FINAL EDIT: Uhhhh it's like 4am when I uploaded this y'all and I think this version of the edit has my honorable mentions missing omgggggg IM SO SORRY here are my honorable mentions that aren't in the video due to my dumb dumb self GAHHHH: 1. Gachiakuta - YES just yes plz read 2. Mushoku Tensei - not for everyone but I got so immersed into this world and the ending broke me 3. The Elusive Samurai - literally reading right now and it's so dang gooooood 4. Hirayasumi - please read this all my slice of life enjoyers I promise it's good
I've been meaning to check out Hirayasumi after all of my favorite manga youtube channels were raving about it. As a grad student, I feel like it might hit a bit too close to home though lol
Hii! You made me start the apothecary diaries finally XD I've been reading less, but I'm happily going through yu yu hakusho! Nice colab, and nice to see you boogie!❤
I honestly don’t think I’ve read too much new manga this year, but I did collect about 15 more volumes of Yona of the Dawn. This series has had a hold on me for so long, and the arcs that I read in those volumes were SO FREAKING GOOD! I would also like to enter the giveaway! ❤
I've surprisingly read so much more than i ever have this year and I think that's due to starting and absolutely blasting through some of my favorite series so far: Mars, Something's Wrong with Us, Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, Red River, and Chihayafuru!
Yaaay Caketinz collab! It went about as I would have expected, hehe. I read Apothecary Diaries (1-5) for the first time this year and really enjoyed it too, but I think the one that impressed me the most this year was Urasawa's Monster. I'd put off reading any of his manga for a long time even though I'd heard people raving about his works and how great they were because I wasn't keen on his art style. But I decided to read it this month for the spooky season and I was absolutely amazed. It's gotta be in my top ten manga now! I've also really been enjoying Golden Kamuy so far, though I haven't gotten even a third of the way through it yet. The plotline is exciting and really pulls you in, and the comedy is perfect and doesn't feel overdone it just feels natural. I'm really looking forward to reading more of it! Lullaby of the Dawn, a Tokyo Pop BL manga is also totally underrated, I really wish more people would give it a shot. The world building is really unique, I think.
Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You mentioned!!! 🦅🦅So so glad you keep spreading the gospel about this series, it's by far my favorite manga rn and it deserves way more attention :) Honestly, listening to the whole video, youve just got good taste in general so it's no surprise lol. Another good pick would be Blue Box, excellent romance sports manga (with an anime currently airing!) Also, I would like to enter the giveaway!
Honestly, I love how he reads such a wide variety of stuff ranging from sweet romance to action to historical, including both Shojo/Josei and Shonen/Seinen titles. It lends a certain authenticity and balance to his reviews and assessments of manga since he isn't a pure-action reader or pure-romance reader.
86 is one of my all time favorite and so glad you’ve given spotlight to this series too! Now, I’m so intrigued with Housekeeping Mage in Another World, gonna start reading it. Thanks for the recommendations.
I only started reading manga recently, and I have not finished a full series yet. But, I would say so far, Lovesickness by Junji Ito left a last impression on me. It left me thinking about my life and the world we live in. Really like your channel man! Keep it up. I would like to enter the giveaway.
Smoking Behind the Supermarket With Up has definitely deeply impacted me this year. I read it online first and then went and bought the volumes because I loved it so much I would like to enter the giveaway!
blue box is so peak, its romance that makes sense and sports that are fun to watch. both love interests have chemistry and don't make stupid random choices. most conflict gets solved very quicky. 10/10
The manga that made the biggest impact on me is actually a publishing imprint called Smudge. Smudge is headed up by longtime manga translator Ryan Holmberg, and he's using this imprint to bring over a bunch of 1970s/1980s underground horror and dark mystery titles to the states and it's the most up my alley shit ever. So far they've published Her Frankenstein and UFO Mushroom Invasion (both single volume paperbacks) and they were both bangers! The next book, Mansect, comes out in February and I'm hyped!
Omg got so many new recs witch hat atelier that manga woahhhh it's crazy i love it so much also I picked it up because of you so thanks a lot...and summer time rendering the anime it was a great time 🎉❤
I had started reading Claymore earlier this year and I was loving it, but took a break around volume 17 and haven’t finished since. I also read fire punch which was also really good imo
the manga that left a lasting impression on me was definitely Given. It was one of my first romance series and my first BL romance series. It’s a messy drama filled high school story about a few boys in a band. I followed the story throughout my own personal years of high school and just felt so attached to all the characters. I would like to enter the give away!!!!
Awesome video! I've always heard of Eighty-Six, and after hearing you talk about it, I think I'm going to start reading the light novels. Anyway, for the QOTD, the series Witch Hat Atelier left such an impression on me. I still think about the story and the art throughout the day. Reading this imversive story watching how fun and light-hearted it can be, but shows darker elements as well. I would like to enter the giveaway!
The manga which had the biggest impact on me this year was Solanin. Entering the job market after 5 years of studying was a scary change for me. Solanin gave me food for thought about what I want to be. It helped me realise how much I actually love my field of work and together with other manga shaped me into the person who I am today. Now a few months into being a psychologist and I absolutely love it. Very happy with the choices I've made. I'd like to enter the giveaway, love your videos especially the manga shopping vids :)
QOTD answer: a series that left a lasting impression on me this year was Hirayasumi. It really tugged on my heart strings and tickled my funny bone all in a very relatable tale with enough drama and spice to keep me interested in what comes next. I loved it. Other honorable mentions I found this year are Kowloon Generic Romance, Smoking behind the supermarket with you, and of course DanDaDan. Oh also, ** I would like to enter the giveaway! **
manga that left a lasting impression for me was nana, such a beautiful gut wrenching story which is so relatable for me as a girl in her 20s. I’m currently loving march comes in like a lion too! also i’d love to enter the giveaway 🩷
Love your list of favourites. Smoking behind the supermarket with you is peak. My 10/10 read this year was Tatsuki Fujimoto's "Look Back". A beautiful story about the importance of the people within our lives, the reasoning behind what we do and create, and those pivotal moments that set other events in motion. Hirayasumi is also another good one - so wholesome and relatable.
One manga that has made a lasting impression on me is Shibatarian. I didn't think I could get so invested in a short story. Its a very interesting story on friendship
I will keep commenting on every video where I see someone mention Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You. I absolutely have loved read this and this has become my comfort manga and I adore all the time I had reading it. My favorite read of this year and I absolutely recommend it to all adults who just need something nice to read and relax too.
I love both The Apothecary Diaries and Call of the Night. Waiting for all the volumes of CotN to be released before finishing it though, I think I left of at 15. My most memorable read this year might be Leviathan, could be because I just finished it but something about it tells me I’ll think about it for a while. And also, yay for Caketinz! I would like to enter the giveaway!
Finally hearing more people talk about 86. Im caught up with the light novel and omg its soo good!!! It was underrated when the anime came out. And the music during that anime was SOOO GOOD!!
I think the manga that’s most definitely made me re-realise my love for manga and had a lasting impression on me was sakamoto days. (And probably Dandadan) the anime just got announced and I really hope they do that art justice. It’s always so amazing when the story and the art come together to make this insane story that you can’t read enough of. The volumes come out too slowly…. I’d like to enter the giveaway haha thanks so much!! ^^
A lasting impression of mine would definitely be Vagabond. I have been holding off till now on reading it, but since the deluxe edition is coming next January, I have decided to already proofread it to really know if I want to go for them. The art style, fightscenes, and the ability to so intricately draw facial emotion are definitely something that came through to me. Also, I would like to enter the giveaway.❤😊❤ (Ps: Let me just say happy Halloween already everyone!!!)
QOTD: Blue Box is the only manga I read this year I don't know why I think it's because I read it the first week it came out years ago and I've been keeping up with it ever since. I'm willing to take recommendation to, but if we talk about novels I can recommend a few 1. "Project Hail Mary" by Andy Weir its a realistic sci-fi and its my favorite book of all time I highly recommend. 2. "Never let you you" by Kazuo Ishiguro about orphans trying to figure out what they will be and why they are a live (trying really hard not to spoil anything) Japanese fiction can be tough to get into but he makes it easy. Happy reading everyone! I would like to enter the give away. I haven't read a lot of manga this year like one (Blue Box) to be honest but I read a lot more way more "actual" books which is crazy because I was never a reader I was severally dyslexic growing up learning how to read at 17 (27 now) so ten years of being able to read this year was weirdly reading heavy getting a lot of my friends into reading. doing about a book a month which is something I thought was impossible for me growing up. I will look into 86 you did a good job selling it! and again I would like to enter the give away
Omgggg first time i screamed is when wistoria wand and sword is mentioned cause i literally watched the anime just today and LOVED IT!! I binged until episode 8 now and i was just thinking of investing in the manga. ALSO 86 YESYESYESSSSS!!!! Please i beg people to watch this series read it indulge in it every way cause we NEED a season 2 I BEG 😭🙏🏻 And my favourite read this year is Moriarty the patriot!! I already love the anime and bought the whole collection. And the manga is so much better!!! More details more gore it tugs your heartstrings even more. This is why u read mangas for the full fledged story of the series 🥹
I think alot of your book opinions were good one that peculiarly got to me was vagabond. I am currently reading vagabond and I just finished the first volume, and I liked your point that you thought it would end up like Vinland saga which I think is great that you compared the two series. Uhh idk like I would want to be in the giveaway because you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, and its like why not.
QOTD answer : Demon slayer manga left an undeniable mark on my heart. The characters' struggles and triumphs felt just incredible.. Koyoharu Gotoge's storytelling mastery left me no choice but to turn the page and read ahead.. This series will forever hold a special place in my heart as it was my very first manga I've ever read..❤️
A NEW UPLOAD LETS GOO 🔥 My favorite read this year was probably Sliver Spoon based off of your recommendation! I now own all of them. I would like to enter the giveaway!
the manga that left a lasting impression with me has to be I Am A Hero. I feel that it shows how someone who has mental and social struggles in a normal world would have to navigate living in a zombie apocalypse and trying to determine what is real what is not as well as trying to do things that are socially accepted even after society has fallen and a lot of people stop living life with what was socially accepted and just trying to survive. AOT was also impactful due to the amazing story line and art just beautiful.
I can't pick between rgveda, yakuza fiancé, drugndrop, bloody sweet and smoking behind the supermarket with you. All left a big impression on me for different reasons. Glad to hear you and so many here in the comments appreciate smoking behind the supermarket too. Ofcourse i'd like to enter the giveaway as well!
This year has been such a blessing for me with new manga series. Just to name a few: Steel of the Celestial Shadows, Fool Night, Dungeon Meshi (I know, I’m late😅), After God, the green yuri and oh so many more. Can’t wait to find new ones through this channel and others!!
86 - eighty six and Descending Stories mentioned !! Yes!! 🙌 These 2 series both left an impression on me when I watched the anime! The series that started it all for me is Inuyasha, which left a huge impression on me. Some of my favs this year so far: Love of Kill, Astra Lost in Space, One Room of Happiness, Seraph of the End, Tokyo Revengers, Is Love the Answer, Tegami Bachi, The Eccentric Doctor of the Moon Flower Kingdom Compared to last year, I've read more this year, which I'm proud of. I am hoping to continue like this in 2025. Truthfully speaking, I don't think it's possible due to my changes at my job, I unfortunately have less time for myself. Life is life. 🥺 I loved the Summertime Rendering anime and I would love to own the manga! I would love to enter the giveaway!
The manga that left a lasting impression on me has to be Astra lost in space. it’s a short series, but it completely surpassed my expectations, I really enjoyed it the mystery and the twists that the story took, and I ended up reading the whole series in just one day. Would definitely recommend. I would like to be entered in the giveaway!!!!!
I managed to complete Dorohedoro and Slam Dunk this year and they were great. Most of the time, long running manga don't have satisfying endings but these 2 ended very well for me. I'd also love to join the give away!
spy x family series has been the most impressive manga for me this year!! it's freaakingly awesome and fun! Anyaaa your're so cute 💗 And the second one is chainsaw maaan! it's very attractive! 🤗
For a release this year, although it didn't get a physical release, Goze Hotaru really got me in the feels. I wish it went on longer, as it really felt like they ended it too soon. However, I also did read Girls Last Tour and that one had me sobbing. It's one I'll never forget. I would like to enter the giveaway!
Apothecary diaries both the light novel and the manga UGHH it’s so good! I recently watch the anime and very excited for season 2!! ( I would like to enter the giveaway! )
The manga that left a lasting impression to me this year is definitely Sakamoto Days, even though it's just assasins killing each other, the choreogeaphy and the flow of the panels are so well done. I would like to enter the giveaway
Couple of manga I read this year that left a lasting impression were probably D.Gray-Man, and especially The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity. Love those 2 series a lot. I would like to enter the giveaway!
This year I got the Ghost in the Shell manga which I really love , and a manga that I would reccommend you It's leviathan . Leviathan is a three volume manga sci fi and it tells a story about astronauts go in a destroyed space ship where they find a diary and it tells what happened in that space ship
A manga that really stuck with me this year that is still serializing would probably be Centuria. However if we are talking about manga I have read in general Goodnight Pun Pun would be the most impactful one I have read this year. I would like to enter the giveaway also but good luck to all who enter!!
Some amazing picks! I fell in love with Apothercary diaries myself, I read about 4 volumes in a row in a plane journey 😂. ALSO so great to see caketinz! I love her and I knew she'd have Bean Counter on her list haha
I really enjoyed The Apothecary Diaries and Vagabond too (before starting Vagabond I even read the original novel by Eiji Yoshikawa). Some of my favorite reads this year were Dandadan, Boy's Abyss, The Summer Hikaru Died, Ron Kamonohashi Deranged Detective, Innocent, Origin, Bastard (the last one is an older manhwa written by Kim Carnby, same guy who wrote Sweet Home - which was made into a tv series by Netflix) and finally started Tokyo Ghoul (on vol 10 and loving it so far). Also, I would like to enter the giveaway!
The amount of Manga I've been able to read is thanks to the Los Angeles Public Library and many other libraries I borrow from; this year so far I've read 673* (as of August). With this many series I've read the series that I would physically want to collect are: Golden Kamuy, Kowloon: Generic Romance and Go with the Clouds, North by Northwest. The Yuri Series She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat is a honorable mention (but I started collecting from the get go). I Would like to enter the giveaway! Summertime Rendering left me in choke hold this entire summer I read it and I truly would love this to be in my curated collection of manga.
My favourite manga that I read this year was BL Metamorphosis. Its so original an cute. I love any manga where the main character is and old lady. I should have read more, but sometimes things dont work out as we expected, just gotta hope next year we can do better. Loved the video and your recomendatioons 😊. I would like to enter the giveaway.

The manga that had the biggest impact for me this year would be centuria because it’s kinda my first real dark fantasy series so yeah… It’s so good pls read it’s in manga plus and has currently only like 30 chapters or so. And yes I would like to enter the give away.
The manga that left the greatest impression on me this year has to be blue lock and welcome to demon school iruma kun. Blue lock for obvious reasons is a great sports manga and I love how different it is from the other soccer mangas out there. Iruma kun is also an amazing series that is hardly ever talked about for some reason in the wider anime/manga sphere and its one that I've been keeping up with weekly, which is an achievement, considering how my attention span is with weekly manga chapters. I would like to enter the giveaway.
I have too many series to list but I'll narrow it down to a few. My Happy Marriage, Library Wars, A Galaxy Next Door, and Mermaid Saga. I would like to enter the giveaway.

Smoking Behind the Supermarket With You!! Yes, such a good read this year. I'm surprised you didn't mention Blue Box. Another great read this year! I kind of read a good amount this year but the one that I finished and was so happy to do was Dorohedoro. Knew it was going to be good but was nevertheless was impressed with it. But for one that's been coming out this year at least, I would definitely recommend Daemons of the Shadow Realm. Same author as FMA and it has been such a good read. Can't wait to see what the story has to offer in the coming year. Instagram ID is different from TH-cam. Just to let you know. But I would also like to enter the giveaway.
I am a fairly new collector hence I don't have many mangas but i would say one of my favourite reads of this year was Uzumaki by Junji Ito,its a fantastic "horror" story!I would like to enter the giveaway.

Have absolutely loved vinland saga, just get so locked in and immersed on the story as soon as I start reading. Another that I've loved, and only picked up to meet a 3for2 deal, is The Way of the Househusband, so many genuine lol moments and such a easy and chill read. I would like to enter the giveaway.
That I read this year I have to say ABARA, I was hunting it religiously for 2-3 years and was so happy to get it at an amazing price and loved every second of it, released this year I gotta go with the green yuri (the guy she was interested in wasnt a guy at all) just such a fun read and brought me back to first discovering the genre and such a cute romance and i have to mention the call of cthulhu by gou tanabe, im a huge lovecraft fan so it was great to get a new release :) - I would love to enter the giveaway.

YONA OF THE DAWN!!!!!
A couple series I’ve read this year that left an impression on me:

Lets go! Someone actually talking about Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju!
I’m a sucker for manga that explore traditional Japanese art forms. This, Chihayafuru, Showa shoten and Akanebanashi all scratch a very specific itch.

What a great room! A heavenly room!
Right now I really am enjoying the fragrant flower blooms with dignity, Oshi no Ko, and Frieren
86 is one that has been on my list for a while. Great to hear you talk about it :)
rakugo shinjuu is a masterpice of studio deen
Also, I would like to enter the giveaway.❤😊❤
(Ps: Let me just say happy Halloween already everyone!!!)
I have just finished The promised Neverland....and i think it will definitely have a lasting impression on my mind....
Omgggg first time i screamed is when wistoria wand and sword is mentioned cause i literally watched the anime just today and LOVED IT!! I binged until episode 8 now and i was just thinking of investing in the manga. ALSO 86 YESYESYESSSSS!!!! Please i beg people to watch this series read it indulge in it every way cause we NEED a season 2 I BEG 😭🙏🏻
And my favourite read this year is Moriarty the patriot!! I already love the anime and bought the whole collection. And the manga is so much better!!! More details more gore it tugs your heartstrings even more. This is why u read mangas for the full fledged story of the series 🥹
Wistoria was done so well! Love it so far
I think alot of your book opinions were good one that peculiarly got to me was vagabond. I am currently reading vagabond and I just finished the first volume, and I liked your point that you thought it would end up like Vinland saga which I think is great that you compared the two series. Uhh idk like I would want to be in the giveaway because you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, and its like why not.
caketinz representing us in the UK!
A NEW UPLOAD LETS GOO 🔥
My favorite read this year was probably Sliver Spoon based off of your recommendation!
AOT was also impactful due to the amazing story line and art just beautiful.
didn’t get to read much this year but beck has been my fav read this year so far ❤
Can’t wait to find new ones through this channel and others!!
for me, this year was about Delicious in Dungeon and Not-Sew Wicked Stepmom
I love perks of a s class heroine ❤❤ I’m so happy that its being printed and others are enjoying it❤
86 - eighty six and Descending Stories mentioned !! Yes!! 🙌 These 2 series both left an impression on me when I watched the anime!
The series that started it all for me is Inuyasha, which left a huge impression on me.
Some of my favs this year so far: Love of Kill, Astra Lost in Space, One Room of Happiness, Seraph of the End, Tokyo Revengers, Is Love the Answer, Tegami Bachi, The Eccentric Doctor of the Moon Flower Kingdom
Compared to last year, I've read more this year, which I'm proud of. I am hoping to continue like this in 2025. Truthfully speaking, I don't think it's possible due to my changes at my job, I unfortunately have less time for myself. Life is life. 🥺
I loved the Summertime Rendering anime and I would love to own the manga!
My favorite read for 2024 is, surprise surprise, Mushoku Tensei. I don't think I've ever read a more detailed or complete story.

Smoking Behind the Supermarket is such good, i read first chapters online,it have recently licenced in my country, so i can´t wait to buy it.
Been loving The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity, My Love Story with Yamada-kun at level 999, and Dinosaur Sanctuary

Favorite manga of the year for me so far is Uzumaki that I just read for the first time this week ^^
