Let me know in the comments below if you use the genuine speed feed 400 trimmer heads on other brands of trimmer.

I will be buying one of these heads to replace the stock one on my trimmer. Not sure if all was OK for you, but according to a video I watched on Chickanic the white adapter is for curved shaft trimmers that spin the head in the opposite direction. It's likely that you should just use the black part in the new head for the straight shaft trimmer you have.

The white core is for Right turn/clockwise trimmers. Yours should be the black core for Left turn/counter-clockwise trimmers.

I've tried the Speed feed but prefer the Husqvarna style head which also works for my Echo trimmers. They hold more trimmer line and I can string them about as fast as the Speed feed.

Ok nice. They now also have a speed feed 500 that is larger to hold more line but I prefer the smaller 400. Thanks for watching.

I replaced the crappy ryobi head on my 40v trimmer. It works way better and is well made.

Nice and Yes I agree. The Speed Feed 400 is probably the most popular trimmer head amongst professional lawn guys for those reasons. Thanks for watching.

How do I refill string on ECHO head on my STIHL weed whacker to refill string without taking off the head?

It looked like there was a gap now between the trimmer head and the dust cover, I wonder how that will affect performance down the road

I doubt it makes any difference. I installed one on my Milwaukee trimmer as well a few years ago and I had to put a spacer in between to make it work as it would not tighten down enough. It has a 1/4” gap in between and has not made any difference in the 2 - 3 years I used it as my main trimmer. Thanks for watching.

@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess Hi, I recently bought a lightly used M18 trimmer, it has Milwaukee's speed feed head, but I think there is something wrong, maybe a missing spring? I'd like to upgrade to Echo SF 400 head. Anyway, can you explain what spacer you used for the Echo SF 400 head? any other mods needed? Thanks,

@@cosmokramer8665There is actually a black plastic spacer included in the packaging of the speed feed kit. It’s not shown in this video because I forgot I had taken it out to use on the Milwaukee. Besides that the speed feed will just screw on to the Milwaukee without any of the other parts needed if I remember correctly. At least on my first gen Milwaukee trimmer.

Just an update the speed feed would make some weird noise and I discovered it was loose on the Kress and needed a spacer to be able to tighten properly. The speed feed kit included a black plastic spacer not shown in this video because I forgot I had previously used it on another trimmer, so I opened another speed feed kit I had to take the spacer for the Kress and it’s worked great ever since.

Doesn't fit Toro 13/15 brushless trimmer. None of the adapters will thread on. Found out the hard way. 😂

What size shaft is on your Toro? I have retaped the adapters to work for me: 10mm-1.25 RH. I put it on a Kobalt 80v a couple weeks ago.

Didn't fit on my Japanese trimmer

Interesting. What brand trimmer? I’ve put one on my Milwaukee trimmer a few years ago with no adapters needed and now the Kress using that green adapter. Thanks for watching.
